Four minutes drive into Spain (across the toll free unmanned border bridge crossing), on the big beautiful border River Minho / Mino, on the outskirts of the ancient fortified Portuguese town of Monção. Six bedrooms, four bathrooms, large modern kitchen, large dining room, large granite outdoor dining table, swimming pool, large TV lounge, large family lounge, breakfast room, study, office, guest lounge, balconies, adega (cellar), laundry room, utility room, WiFi, phone, HD British TV (Freesat Sky - quality excellent - we have a large parabola). Rentals good for 8 adults (lower if fewer). Discounts for longer stays.
The huge grounds are walled and fenced (2 meters). Entry phone / clicker (commander) access via electric vehicle and pedestrian gates (for added security, though w are in one of the lowest crime rate areas of Europe). Security system with 24 hour support. Code entry principle access doors. You can not see into most of the grounds from outside (so you are free to be as liberated as you like, within reason). Access is via a road that goes through the village and we are at the end. You and your family are very safe and secure.
The grounds have a large vineyard (with eating grapes and kiwis as well), a large orchard (cherries, plums, apples, pears, oranges, limes, lemons, tangerines, nectarines, nectarines, peaches, pomegranates, apricots, blueberries and more), a fenced swimming pool area, a family garden with traditional stone Portuguese BBQ, the shade of a large cork oak tree and stunning river views. Plus more grounds below; the property is built high over the river with lower grounds. There is a driveway from the front gates, past the property and down to double river access gates. We even have a spring and stream! Plenty of trees and plants including chestnuts, hazelnuts and more.
Two minutes to Monção town centre (plenty of cafes, restaurants, banks, large post office, bespoke shopping, etc.). Monção has some very good and large supermarkets, a library, Hertz agent car rental, museum, and an authentic weekly country market. And plenty more on the Spanish side, including a train station with services to Madrid and Vigo. With us, you literally get the best of both worlds; Portugal and Spain.
Plenty to do. Local operators provide kayaking, boating, white water rafting (we are at the end of the white water section in front of a wide section of the river suitable for fishing and boating; probably the best fishing to be had along the entire river). Biking, rambling, hot air ballooning, golfing, small plane charters; pretty much everything is available nearby.
20 Minutes drive from Vigo Airport, 70 minutes drive from Porto airport (superb motorway and views). The best seafood going (in Spain). Plenty of shopping, especially in Vigo and Porto. Around 45 minutes from the Atlantic Coast (there is a river beach directly opposite us if you prefer not to drive too far).
Please note: The swimming pool is only filled / operational from 1st June to 16th September. Also, please be aware of our bedroom types / limits;

NB. We use fans and leave the windows open (there are screens) at night (you can open only certain windows for security); aircon is not needed as we get cool river breezes after dusk. There is a big aircon in the downstairs lounge / dining room if you want to be an ice cube. During the day, we keep the south facing shutters closed to keep the property cool; the views over the river are Northerly.
