When we saw Halwin Lane Farm we instantly fell in love with it's location. Set down a private lane away from traffic it is the perfect place for our young family to grow up. Although in a quiet position we love that you can drive in any direction and be at local towns or leisure facilities within 10 to 20 minutes. We particularly enjoy walks and horse riding around the local area including Stithians Lake. There are also numerous cycle rotes which as the children are growing up enjoy a great deal. The people of Porkellis are particularly welcoming and the local pub is a warm and friendly place to visit and has now got the added bonus of them selling groceries and even running a small community library.
We enjoyed a super break in this lovely little cottage. We received a very warm welcome on arrival and the owners had provided a super welcome pack. The cottage is well equipped and comfortably furnished and maintained to a high standard. Porkellis is quiet, peaceful and very attractive, an ideal location for exploring The Lizard and further west. We enjoyed super meals at both the Star Inn in the village and the Golden Lion beside the Stithians Lake in nearby Menherion. A thoroughly enjoyable holiday and we're planning another visit later this year.
The cottage was very clean and welcoming. The fresh eggs were a lovely touch and the welcome biscuits and daffodils were lovely.
The only issue we had was the lack of cooking utensils and the utensils that were there needed replacing, that being said, we did get by
All in all a great holiday
We had a great time in the cottage. Everything was as the descrition said, the place was very clean and also provided a lot of privacy. We travelled there as a couple in our early 30s, but the place is perfect for anybody who is ok with one bedroom upstairs and a living room/open kitchen downstairs. Sue and her family were very welcoming and provided us with all the information (and a great Cornish pasty) we needed to get set up for our stay. We would recommend the place to our friends/relatives any time. Helston is quite near (including a Tesco superstore) and the village is located perfectly for day trips to all the sites you want to visit in Cornwall.
All in all we can say that we were quite sad when we had to leave but are happy to come back one day!
My Wife, myself and our 3 year old boy recently stayed at this wonderful cosy little cottage and had a fantastic time. we were greeted by some beautiful flowers for my wife's birthday as well as a little welcome pack to help us settle in. A fantastic out of the way, quiet location, ideal for exploring Cornwall. The owners were really charming and very helpful, nothing seemed too much trouble. We ate several times in the local pub, The Star Inn, food was really good and again very hospitable people running the place, very child friendly too!, i would absolutely have no problems recommending anyone spending time at Little Halwin, it is perfect for young families (childrens books games and some toys available in the cottage), couples and even single people wanting to get away from it all. we are hoping to go back later this year, we had forgotten just how special Cornwall really is!, see you soon!
Thanks for making our stay so nice. The cottage was much nicer than staying in a hotel room. The cottage is tucked away in a perfect, private, setting but central for viewing so, much of beautiful Cornwall.
Had a great week in this lovely cottage. Sue & Andy made us feel very welcome and we lacked nothing - even the weather was good! The cottage is well-equipped, clean and well-maintained. The welcome basket on arrival helped a lot after a long car journey. We do hope to return for another relaxing break!
Porkellis is a small village surrounded by countryside, the village has a good pub serving food on most days and the same pub operates a local store for essentials such as bread and milk. Only a 10 minute drive away is Helston known as the gateway to the Lizard peninsula with its famous scenery and beaches. Helston itself is a small town full of history and of course famous for the Flora Dance held in May each year, you will find a good selection of supermarkets, local shops and other amenities such as a leisure centre and cinema.
Little Halwin is Ideally placed for touring either West Cornwall or head to central Cornwall where the Eden project is only a 60 minute drive away. Falmouth and its National Maritime Museum is only 20 minutes away. Slightly further away but still an easy drive are Penzance, Newlyn and Mousehole with their many art galleries. Lands End with its breathtaking scenery and Porthcurno where The Minack Theatre is situated are again all within easy reach. Water sports and fishing are also all available locally.
