About Raliegh Grantham

After innkeeping for 13 years, the birth of twin boys in 2011 meant big changes for the Grantham Family. At the end of the 2012, we moved into the main part of the house and quit serving breakfast at Ashland's Tudor House B&B.

Why Raliegh Grantham chose Ashland

Easy access to downtown and groceries make this private and quiet unit a great place to stay while you visit Ashland and the Oregon Shakespeare Festival.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We were able to secure this charming accommodation at the last minute and were very pleased. The decor and furnishings were very lovely and comfortable, lots of towels and good linens, plus the owners were very helpful. Dogwood is handicapped accessible, which was good for us on this visit. I would highly recommend Tudor House to anyone and will probably be returning.

Centrally located yet off the beaten path, a wonderful retreat in Ashland.

Fun, cabin-like quarters and outdoor environment. The quaint kitchen was perfect, and having a bathroom on both floors was a nice amenity. The bed was very firm but otherwise comfortable with handmade quilts and soft pillows.

Great location

  • 4 of 5

This is a beautiful property, well furnished but not stocked well. This showplace needs 12 matched dishes, unchipped. What few wine glasses there were are mismatched. We went to thrift store to add to the mishmash.

Blender and ice maker not working. Call to owner promised quick repair but he was unable to get service. We survived.

A little TLC would earn this place a better rating.

Owner's Response: I think the reviewer has me slightly confused with another property. This unit doesn't have an ice maker, and the blender is working just fine. I'll admit to the mishmash of cups and plates, though. :)

Convenient but not too comfortable

  • 2 of 5

Good location. Bathrooms nice. Beds not terribly comfy and house rather crowded. For a family of three, including two adults and one child, not enough room for all to sit down in living room. Two of the dining chairs too low for the table. Kitchen not stocked with any basics at all (e.g., salt). Cooking utensils minimal. Queen bed mattress uncomfortable. Neighborhood construction before 8:00 a.m. and neighborhood barking dogs made for poor sleep.

Owner's Response: I was quite concerned about this review and the state of the mattresses in this unit, since we certainly try to maintain the property to a high level. After asking all of the recent guests about their comfort, and I was quite surprised at the range of comments that I received, as I got both "it was fine, but a little too soft for me" and also, "it was fine, but a little too firm for me." For the record, the queen mattress upstairs is a plush pillowtop innerspring mattress that we flip over a couple of times a year to avoid wear. It may not be perfect for you, but the vast majority of my guests seem to be quite comfortable on it. I live on site, so if there are staples missing I am happy to replenish them if I know about the lack of salt, for example. (the next guest mentioned it, and I refilled it right away) The neighbor is indeed doing a major remodel on his home, but I don't ever notice the contractors starting too early, also, they're nearly done with major construction at this point.

It was so perfect!

I don't want to share how much our kids and grandson loved their stay because we hope to rent it during the holidays!! Immaculate and sweet little cottage...we want to rent it many times for our family.

Thank you to the owners for such a special place for our family.

Fit our family well!

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed the Dogwood Suite. We were quite the full house, with the grandparents and the toddler in a pack and play upstairs, and parents on the pull out couch downstairs. It worked out well, especially with the great play area and the park nearby. We appreciated the air conditioning and the two bathrooms. Most of all, we appreciated leaving our car and being able to walk everywhere. I wouldn't recommend this place for a person who loves to cook, as the kitchenette is appointed as a true rental kitchen, but we were able to make most of our meals and pick up some tasty treats at the local coop. The hosts are great. Would recommend!
