We spent together with our 5 children (2 daughters and 3 sons, age 11 to 18) a wonderful time (two weeks) in Kalamos. The house is very comfortable and clean with a fantastic view. Vivienne and Peter are very nice people who provided us with all the information and help needed. The 10 minutes’ walk to the beach on old donkey ways through olive groves gave the children (and us) the chance to observe Greek/Mediterranean nature very closely. We loved it! People living in Kalamos and in the close mountain-village Argalasti welcomed us very warmly. We know Greece quite well, but were for the first time in Pillion. The region is definitively a place to visit. We'll come back!
What is promised in the description really came true for us in this beautiful, comfortable and clean house among the olive trees. The Villa Moss was spacious enough for our group (some days up to 5 adults and 2 teenagers) with this three comfortable bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. We enjoyed cooking together in the big kitchen where we found all things we needed, had dinner on the large terrace with an amazing view and beautiful sunsets every evening.
Vivienne and Peter are very nice, hospitable, uncomplicated and helpful hosts. Thank you very much again. We loved this place and we really recommend your Villa Moss
Kalamos is the most perfect family holiday destination we have found yet. We have four children aged 3 to 16 and without exception we all loved the pristine beach offering fabulous safe snorkelling, swimming, rockpooling and lazing. The 4 tavernas in this quaint, unspoilt coastal village all offer delicious, cheap local food and hospitality. We did explore some of the Pelion - it is a stunning part of Greece offering a remarkable variety of landscape in such a small area. However, we couldn't get enough of tranquility and beauty on our doorstep. The villa is very well equipped, clean, with stunning views and a 10-15 minute walk to the beach. Vivienne and Peter were very hospitable hosts and are very well acquainted with the area. I would highly recommend this property.
Villa Moss is very beautiful place to stay in Greece, Pelion. When you prefer privacy, quiet and peace, this is ideal place! We visited Greece many times and I can say that Pelion is the best for peaceful vacation in mainland Greece. We like little greek villiges, old towns, little no-organized beaches, fresh and very good vegetables and fruits from open-air market in Argalasti, little tavernas, honey and olives. All neighbourhood of villa Moss - all Pelion - is full of olive trees and view to sea is magnificent. We like this place. We love this place. In this place You need only swimsuit and car - and everything will be ok!
Btw. owners, Peter and Vivienne, are very nice people.
We stayed in Villa Moss at the end of February this year and had a wonderful time. For us the holiday was the first time away with 5 month old Finn and a chance to relax and get away from London life which we certainly did! Despite being essentially winter the weather was for the most part lovely, including two days of sitting out in the sunshine to have lunch and Finn being able to play on a mat on the patio all afternoon - not what we expected for so early in the year!
The villa itself was great and really well set up with three bathrooms, plentiful hot water, a fully equipped kitchen and a fantastic real log fire. The bedrooms are light and bright and benefit from beautiful views, a balcony and very comfy beds; we slept as soundly as is possible with a baby on board! The hosts also provided a baby cot and changing mat which made life even easier. The downstairs boasts an open kitchen and lounge which is really cosy yet has plenty of space to cook, relax and eat together. There's TV and DVDs too although we never got round to either!
During the days we pottered around Kalamos, visiting the beach, walking the calderimi paths and olive groves and lunching at a local taverna (arranged by the hosts as most tavernas in Kalamos are shut during the off peak season). We also drove up to the local village of Argalasti a number of times and once walked back (which took about 45mins and had some marvelous views). For trips further afield we went to Papa Nero to see the Agean sea and to Hania for a day of skiing. There are even more places to visit it you can drag yourself away from the sun drenched patio!
For meals we did a mixture of eating out at local tavernas and cooking ourselves in the villa using supplies bought in Argalasti. Doing the shopping is an experience in itself, especially if you try to avoid the mini supermarket and buy most things from the little butcher, bakery and green grocers. Our hosts helped us out with some handy phrases, recommended good value shops and prepped us on how much things should cost.
If you want a holiday that's good for the soul and away from it all, Villa Moss is perfect. It's equally elegant and comfortable and works perfectly for a family group as I imagine it would for a group of friends. In summary, we ate well, drank wine on the patio most days, enjoyed endless beautiful views and dabbled in a spot of local culture. What's not to like?
If you want to escape the bright lights and are not looking for English pubs and discos this is for you. What a wonderful place! The house has been built to a very high standard and tastefully decorated with plenty of space for families/friends including 3 bathrooms and 2 balconies. Sitting on the balcony overlooking the sea and the amazing sunsets; London seems a lifetime away. The quiet and non commercialised beaches and restaurants are idyllic and even during the peak season there is plenty of space on the beach. If you're lucky you'll see dolphins swimming by or catch a starfish in the clear blue sea. Stay put and relax or drive up the mountain roads to discover unspoilt villages where you can explore tiny churches or sit in the village square drinking the local wines/spirits and tasting home cooked dishes. The beaches are a short drive or 10 minute walk through olive groves and the nearest village with local shops and several tavernas just 5 minutes by car.Enjoy!
Koutsourodeika is a hamlet set in Olive groves just above the fabulous beach of Kalamos, Quiet and unspoiled by mass tourism. Along the beach there are five tavernas and a summer time bar set in a beautiful garden. There is also a mini market in the summer.
Argalasti has a lively square with six Tavernas. Here also there are shops to provide all you need for self catering if you don't fancy the Tavernas.
You can learn to sail, dive and horse ride all in the local area. If you tire of the calm, warm waters of the Pagasitic gulf the fantastic beaches on the Aegean side are only a short drive away.
Walking the local donkey trails (calderimi) is a favourite spring and Autumn pastime for groups or individuals and guides can be hired to help guide you. Find out more on facebook through www.facebook.com/southpelion or www.friendsofthekalderimi.org.
Just sitting relaxing, with a glass of wine, watching the fantastic sunsets will probably be your favourite evening occupation before finding your favourite taverna for enjoyable evening meal.
