Overview

Mackinaw City Cottage Rental Photos and Description

3 Bedroom, sleeps 6

This cottage was beautifully renovated from top to bottom in 2013. It is spacious, will sleep 6 and features 2 bedrooms plus a sleeping porch. It also has 2 bathrooms and a laundry room. The kitchen/ dining area is roomy and has a nice island and cook top. It is large enough to accommodate your large group. Tastefully decorated with attention to every detail, the cottage exudes warmth and comfort. It comes complete with everything you need to enjoy a wonderful vacation in Mackinaw. It is located 1 block from Lake Michigan and a short walk to Mackinaw City. You can walk to the Mackinac Bridge, Fort Michillimackinac, Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse, and to the restaurant/shopping area of downtown. They say “location is everything” and you won’t find a better location to enjoy all that Northern Michigan has to offer.

If you are interested in star-gazing, the cottage is located just 3 minutes from the Headlands - recently designated as a 'DARK SKY PRESERVE' - one of only 10 locations in the USA! This is given to a few special areas that are free of artificial light. The night sky is breathtakingly beautiful!

In the winter, you can be on the slopes of Nubs Knob or Boyne Mountain in less than 30 minutes. If you prefer snow-shoeing or x-country skiing, the area offers the Headlands, Wilderness State Park or Mill Creek - all minutes away. The beautiful Mackinaw to Midland snowmobile/bike trail is easily accessed from the driveway of the cottage. Interested in a little more adventure? Try a dog-sled ride through the wilderness from a local musher! Also a great base-camp for hunters.

In the spring, birdwatchers gather from all over the country to catch a glimpse of the incredible hawk migration. You can view it from the spacious yard!

In the summer, you can be soaking up the sun on one of Lake Michigan’s most beautiful sandy beaches in 3 minutes. Lake Michigan, Lake Huron, Historic Fort Michilimackinac and the Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse are all within walking distance – as is Shepler’s Ferry dock – the ultimate transportation to Mackinac Island.

In the fall, take the color tour through the “tunnel of trees” or enjoy spectacular scenery in the Upper Peninsula, an easy drive across the mighty Mackinac Bridge. There’s nothing quite like the sound of bugling elks during mating season at Pigeon River or the mysterious call of the loon on a quiet lake. It’s all here! Hunt, fish, hike, canoe, bike – you can do it all or you can just relax by the cozy fireplace with a good book.

We are able to offer cottage accommodations to sleep up to 35 people. With 8 cottages to choose from, this is the perfect location for wedding parties, family reunions or other small gatherings. If you're planning a Mackinac Island wedding and need accommodations for your guests, we have the perfect solution. Cottages are now available. Enjoy charming cottages, all with fully equipped kitchens (some even include a washer/dryer), screened-in porch, picnic area and firepits for evening campfires with friends and family - all a stones throw from the Mackinac Island ferries. Call us for more information.

Book your perfect Northern Michigan getaway today!

Hot

  • 3 of 5

I don't like to be the first one to write a negative review and know it looks bad when others are all giving it five stars. However, we are boiling hot in this cottage and if not for the fact that we'd be out our money, we would have moved to a hotel. Mackinaw is experiencing unseasonably hot temps. This cottage isn't air conditioned. We go to the island for the day, get sweaty riding bikes and come back to a hot cottage instead of an air conditioned hotel. Miserable. Son is getting heat headaches at night. Yes, my fault for not noting that AC isn't mentioned in the property description. Yes, we are probably wimpy. Yes, fans are provided and windows are plentiful. Yes, others have told us this weather isn't typical. This doesn't change the fact that we're roasting at night. I monitored the thermostat yesterday and noted the cottage temp didn't get below 79, even at 11 PM. I feel bad writing this because the owners have obviously poured blood sweat and tears into renovating this lovely property. However, anyone with a sensitivity to heat might want to consider other options.

Owner's Response: I understand your frustration with the weather but it doesnt seem reasonable to give us a poor rating because of it. Unfortunately we can't control the weather. Perhaps you would be better suited for a hotel room. Diane

Nice family vacation cottage.

  • 4 of 5

The cottage decor was beautiful. Kitchen was well stocked. Washer and dryer came in handy. Loved the closeness of the mall and restaurants. We made good use of the patio area. Diane was amazing to work with, responding quickly to any questions we had. Living room Furniture and mattress need some updating for comfort purposes. We were glad we brought fans with us, surprised to find no heating and air conditioning. This made for a couple sticky nights, but we managed with our fans. Over all, we had a nice vacation, wouldn't trade our family's together time, in mackinaw, for anything.

Great place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

We loved this house and could not be happier with our stay! The home had everything we needed and was clean and comfortable. We went as a family and it was nice to have the extra space to spend time together. There are store and restaurants in walking distance. I would recommend it!

had a blast!

  • 5 of 5

we had a great time staying here on our first vacation as a family. We had two little girls plus my husband and myself and it was perfect. We enjoyed the quick walk to town as well as the proximity to the bridge. The house was immaculately decorated and prepared for visitors. Would definitely stay here again!
