Worst VRBO Experience

  • 2 of 5

It was apparent the owner lives here fulltime and vacates when you arrive. It was dirty, smelly and had very loud rodents living under the floor. I would not call this place romantic and would proceed with caution when booking.

So much character inside and out.

  • 5 of 5

The decor inside and out so nice. The art work so beautiful. A creek, fire pit,hot tub, a fireplace and a kitchen. We felt like we didn't need to go anywhere, it was all here. So comfortable!!!!

Dirty

  • 1 of 5

Setting is great. Place was dirty beyond believe. We were afraid to even sit down. Charming my foot. We stayed one night and got the heck out of there. I will be asking for some money back. We have stayed in huts, cabins and even in the notoriously dirty Sherpa huts in Nepal. The Paradise cabin was by far the worst ever.

Not a good stay

  • 1 of 5

We booked this cabin for our late spring get-away. Let me start by stating we have rented 20+ cabins over the years. This was the worst! I will list the problems in no particular order (just has I wrote them down when they happened): Before I start ... We had to share the cabin with a squirrel that thought it was warm inside so he came in through the old fireplace that had poor mortar. My wife and dog FREAKED OUT when it ran around the cabin. Each morning I had pickup squirrel POOP off the table, chair and kitchen counter - GROSS ! Then at night it would chirp ALL NIGHT ! Not good. My wife spent most of the time while home in the bedroom with the door shut because I could not get the thing out. The listing also listed SATELLITE TV in LR & BR. I do like to keep up with news and sports. NOPE, was only Roku and most of that was "pay to watch". 1) Hot tub worked the first night but stopped heating for the rest of the stay. It foamed so bad the first night that we had to get out. Dirty, ocean-like foam that coated us and the tub. I guess it was good it stopped working. 2) The bed is AT LEAST 50 years old. Hard, NOISY and very uncomfortable. Felt like an old original spring type bed. 3) Everything in the kitchen had a greasy film on it. Some items worse than others. We had to wash the items BEFORE we used them. Decided after the first night to go out and eat as to stay away from the grease. Would have been nice to know the timer on the microwave did not work. Cooked steak and potato's and set the microwave for 8 mins thinking it would ding and turn off after 8 mins. Nope. Ruined 2 bakers after I cooked them for 16 min and realized the timer had not moved. Maybe needs a new microwave. 4) All the SMOKE DETECTORS were removed from the cabin. Just wires hanging from the ceiling. Dangerous in and old cabin with a fireplace. 5) Dryer took 3 cycles (100+ mins) to dry a couple towels and bathing suits. 6) Could not see the fire in the wood stove (ambiance) because the glass was BLACK with soot. Needs a good cleaning. You have to walk half way around the cabin to get to the hot tub (when working).

For the cost per night of a 5-star hotel I would expect a cleaner, safer cabin that had working items.

For skeptics, I took pictures of all these things (even a video of the squirrel "barking" at us while jumping from the fireplace to the couch. I don't like leaving neg ratings but this was BAD!

Owner's Response: all the smoke detectors are fully functioning. the site shows true pictures of antiques and lovely furnishings from world travels. the mattress purchased recently in fall is euro style. china crystal and French cookware and art abound here. the squirrel is part wild life here. leave doors closed and a broom usually dose the trick for birdies bats and forest creatures. hot tub will stop functioning if debris is allowed to build up. PLEASE wash off with hose that is provided. all in all this place is magical . truly in the forest with hundreds of visitors every year. thank you Teresa feel free to ask questions for any concerns. happy Travels friends!

Eclectic Treasures Everywhere!!

  • 5 of 5

Wow! What a major treat this cabin on the babbling creek is to the eye and the soul. To enjoy the richness and fullness of this experience one must wander, ponder, and wonder at every little nook and cranny of both the cabin and the surrounding landscape. The views from the hammock are incredible and the fireplace has many stories within it. Thank you so very much Ms. T.O. for sharing your creative and artistic genius!!

Cozy, romantic cabin perfect for a weekend escape

  • 5 of 5

This cabin was the perfect setting for a quiet getaway from city life. We soaked in the hot tub while we watched the river run by, read books by the fire, drove up to Paradise to play in the snow, watched movies under warm blankets, and enjoyed looking at the different art pieces displayed in the cabin. We appreciated Teresa's personal extra touches, like fresh baked cookies and a rose on the bed. :) We would love to return in warmer weather so we can try out the outdoor fire pit and bicycle-built-for-two!

The only suggestions I would make to the owner would be to make new markings on the oven knob so you know what temperature you're cooking at, and invest in a new bed.
