We’re frequent VRBO users, and we’ve rented homes all over the country. We stayed at this home for a week in early May for our son’s graduation from law school at Cal-Berkeley. Our stay at this home was fabulous; perhaps the best home we’ve ever rented. The owners are easy to work with in every aspect of the rental process. What we liked best is that homeowners are friendly and low-key while at the same time easy to contact and accountable. The rental contract is very straightforward, and we did everything by email in just a few correspondences, plus mailing in our payments. The home is absolutely amazing. It is even better than the pictures online. The home is spacious, clean, and bright. The views are stunning and the outdoor spaces are enchanting. The bedrooms are spacious, the beds are comfortable, and several bedrooms have private bathrooms. It’s hard to pick a favorite room in the house because they all have wonderful views, but the kitchen/dining room space was so inviting. The kitchen is beyond a foodies dream with everything you need to cook or grill. The outdoor spaces and the views off the kitchen made us want to dine in every night despite the abundance of dining out options nearby. Plus, the owners left us with a basket of goodies for breakfast and snacking, and allowed us to use anything we needed from their pantry and to pick from their fresh vegetables and herbs growing in their container box nearby. It’s a wonderful home to entertain in, and the owners encouraged us to hold a reception, which was the highlight of our trip. The location of the home couldn’t be better; we were just minutes from the campus, shopping, entertainment and outdoor activities. We did sneak out for ice cream at a couple of must “go to” Berkeley spots – Icee and Cream, but otherwise we were content just to walk around the neighborhood and to hang out around the house. We’ll remember our trip for years to come. Thank you to the homeowners for sharing your amazing home with us for the week. We only wish we had a reason to come back.
I have stayed in this gracious and sunny Berkeley house several times, and always look forward to a return visit. Amazing kitchen with top notch amenities and space, clean bathrooms on every floor, awesome exercise room, two car garage, and a truly beautiful private backyard. A tremendous view from the dining room. There is a new hot tub outside, as well as a hammock for a mid-day snooze. Burglar alarm for safety assurance, great fireplace that works remotely, really comfortable beds. Almost no street noise, as the house is located on a cul-de-sac.
The house is close to College Ave, which offers a great diversity of dining and shopping options. The Rockridge BART station is only a mile away, giving access to downtown Oakland and San Francisco.
I would recommend this property whole heartedly! One thing it is NOT, is handicap or wheelchair friendly- there are plenty of stairs to keep your legs in shape!
This was a find! Our seven person, multi generation family was really impressed by the east bay location. Fantastic dining and shops within walking distance, cocktails at the Claremont one evening, sightseeing at Angel Island, Alcatraz, and Union Square kept us all busy. The house was a modern design with a great cook's kitchen, two outdoor patios/living areas and we loved the hot tub. The house was spotless and fully stocked with everything needed. The owners went out of their way to be helpful and accommodating, even left a rawhide chew toy as a welcome gift for our dog!
My family and I hosted Thanksgiving at this house. In short, our stay was perfect. The kitchen is phenomenal and has everything you could possibly need. The house is very peaceful and there are so many elements that made the stay very relaxing (hottub, comfy beds, etc.). Any visitor to the Bay Area should consider this oasis. The next time we are in town, we know where we'll want to stay!
