Great Experience

  • 5 of 5

Mullett Lake is a great lake for boating, fishing and just cruising. Green cottage was very comfortable and had everything we needed, with the lake just outside our front door. Topinabee is well situated just off I-75 and close to Indian River and Cheboygan. The weather was great, except for two nasty days of rain. Dorene was great to work with and made our stay special. We really enjoyed our stay on Mullett Lake and hope to return sometime in the future. Thanks so much.

Owner's Response: These guests are 100% correct as Mullett Lake is the lake for any type of activity it's salt free, shark free and. most chance for a hurricaine! Plus cottage is in a highly desirable area close to tons of day trips in every direction....or just stay put at the cottage and let the surrounding area do its job of giving you 100% relaxation and the views will be unforgettable! End the day soaking in the hot tub after a long day of excursions!

Very well kept. Clean and you have everything you need.

Had a very nice time. Cottage was very nice and the view from the deck was beautiful. Hot tub was nice right outside the slider. The only negative thing was bed wasn't the best but I have slept on worse otherwise I would definitely recommend this place and we hope to come back again next year. Thank you so much for a great place for our vacation.

Owner's Response: Thanks! This home gets lots of repeat guests all the time.....owners can barely stay there and most repeat guests have stayed there more nights in a row than the owners have ever in their whole time of!!!! Actually, I have 3 cottages with this same exact view and homes are all updated with amenities guests don't have at their own home, no doubt:-)

Beautiful sunrises, warm beach, easy access to walking/running/biking trails

  • 4 of 5

Nice beach and unbeatable sunrises. We rented a boat and enjoyed watching the sun come up from both the patio and the boat. Loved that the protected nature path was just behind the house. Water was nice right off the house -- water shoes recommended which is common for most mullet lake properties.

House was cute and bright, but could use a deep clean (sills, under furniture, top of fridge and crawl space -- big dust bunnies) and a few repairs (screen of sliding door off main bedroom is broken). Overall a very good time and a good deal for the price.

Bonus: washer and dryer in house is great for anyone, especially families with kids. Also, TV and DVD player and games helpful for any rainy days. Close proximity to a playground in topinabee was nice too.

Owner's Response: I'm glad overall guests enjoyed their stay, everyone always does and home gets repeat guests all the time. We will tend to the screen, didn't know it was broken and is a minor fix. Thanks for alerting me on the one thing (few?) that needed fixing, consider it done but would have been done earlier, no doubt...We like to hear of these things at the time it's discovered so that we can remedy the screen ASAP. All the homes get the hard clean in spring and fall before and right after the super busy summer season which always starts in May for all the homes as this home turns over well into September and then the hard clean happens from the homeowners as you can't do hard cleans when guests are ready to check in on same day when guests are leaving and the home is always clean for the next guests. My own personal home has the same procedure. The dust bunnies occurred due to the washer and dryer being attached to each other must of shaked, rattled and rolled with a laundry load from the guest so the lint dryer hose came detached from the vent so of course there will be lint forming dust bunnies here and there especially if all the ceiling fans and floor fans area going.....we simply reattached the vent, all good:-) The crawl is up in the cathedral ceiling probably 10-15' high! on top of the kitchen cabinets and you would need a ladder to get to that area or have to stand on the kitchen counters or even fridge! to get to the crawl!!??!!. Not sure why guest went way up there? or why....Everyone always enjoys their stay though with these minor things which again, could have been remedied immediately which I always do and I have excellent communication to my guests but am just hearing about it now but will be remedied:-) The guests are correct on the beach, sunrises, nature path, water, TV, movies, & washer and dryer!

  • 5 of 5

We love Mullet lake. Clean, cold, refreshing water. This cottage was perfect for two adults and three kids. Kayaks were an added bonus and a lot of fun. Hot tub was great. This cottage had everything you could think of and was very reasonable. We will definitely return.

Topinabee/Indian River area is the heart of the finest outdoor recreational opportunities that Northern michigan has to offer such as lakes and rivers for boating and fishing, forests for hunting wildlife and mushroom hunting, bird watching and recreational trails for snowmobiling, biking, hiking, cross country skiing and ORV riding converge on Indian River. You can come to Topinabee and Indian River and go fast-water kayaking, ORV riding and sea kayaking all in the same summer weekend. If you'd rather do something more passive, substitute reading a book by the lakeshore or riverfront having lunch while watching boats pass by on the waterway and sitting by a campfire in the evening! Indian River is located between Burt and Mullett Lakes, two of Michigan's largest inland lakes and are part of the Inland Water Route, a 38 mile chain of lakes and rivers that begins in Conway and empties into Lake Huron at Cheboygan. The lakes and connecting rivers are enjoyed by boaters, kayakers, sailboaters and a wide variety of powerboats! Indian River is a prime fishing destination for both professionals and amateur fishermen but the professionals don't enjoy their catch any more than the five-year-old who catches his or her first fish while fishing with grandpa! Indian River is also at the middle of the North Central State Recreational Trail, a 62 mile trail from Gaylord to Machinaw City. The Indian River Golf Club has a beautiful 18 hole course and wthin an hour's drive there are dozens of other 9 and 18 hole courses. The Cross in the Woods is the Worlds largest crucifix. It is one of Michigan's top tourist destinations and draws hundreds of thousands of people to Indian River each year.Indian River is at the northern edge of the Pigeon River Country State Forest, home of the nationals largest wild elk herd east of the Mississippi. The state forest also has miles and miles of forestland for hunting, fishing, mushroom & berry picking, camping and hiking.
