This cottage had everything we needed to enjoy our weekend stay in Topinabee. It was so nice to come back and relax in the hot tub after a long day of skiing. The kitchen was well equipped to prepare our own meals and there is a market/convienence store just up the road to pick up odds and ends.
Dorene made herself available if we needed anything (not that we did). We will definitely be back!
We stayed here in October for a romantic getaway and just loved this place. We were able to kayak right from the cottage and it is also right on a bike path so we brought our bikes and biked every day. Having the hot tub on the deck was wonderful to end the day and look at the stars and water. The kitchen had all the amenities you need with a BBQ to cook your steaks. Dorene was wonderful to talk to and deal with. For two people, a girls getaway or small family, it is just right. Dorene has other cottages and I am looking forward to renting one of them next summer with a group of people.
its a wonderful cozy cabin with a great view of the sunrise and a large deck to relax on.
We had a great and relaxing time, a very nice place in a very nice area.
My husband and I love this cottage. We came back for a second time! This time we brought our boat. It's really convenient to have a dock right out your front door!! The launch is just down the road. Literally. We really enjoyed the hot tub after a day out fishing. There's barely anyone on Mullet Lake. The sunrise is breathtaking. As always, Doreen is a pleasure to deal with. Thanks so much! We made many wonderful memories!
I rented this cottage for a week-long getaway with my parents. We enjoyed the gorgeous lake views sighting a bald eagle, a cormorant, loons and other birds. The use of the two kayaks and the convenient location were much appreciated. We kayaked, took several walks on the North Central trail, fished from our boat catching enough good-sized perch for a meal, swam, sunbathed, visited Indian River and Cheboygan for sightseeing, ice cream and meals, and loved the clear view of the stars and the Milky Way from the hot tub. The cottage is well-stocked with cooking utensils (we brought most of our own food to cook). There's no AC, but once you open up the windows and set up fans, the breeze keeps you cool!
Overall we really enjoyed our trip. You really need water shoes to walk out into the water, which we quickly got from Walmart 15 min away. Some of the screens had holes in them which let in some bugs, but we were outside most of the time anyway. The hot tub was amazing for my wife and I when my 1.5 year old son went to bed. We also went to Macinac Island for an afternoon because we so close. I had good luck fishing right in front my of the cottage a little ways. We would rent here again for sure.
Topinabee/Indian River area is the heart of the finest outdoor recreational opportunities that Northern michigan has to offer such as lakes and rivers for boating and fishing, forests for hunting wildlife and mushroom hunting, bird watching and recreational trails for snowmobiling, biking, hiking, cross country skiing and ORV riding converge on Indian River. You can come to Topinabee and Indian River and go fast-water kayaking, ORV riding and sea kayaking all in the same summer weekend. If you'd rather do something more passive, substitute reading a book by the lakeshore or riverfront having lunch while watching boats pass by on the waterway and sitting by a campfire in the evening! Indian River is located between Burt and Mullett Lakes, two of Michigan's largest inland lakes and are part of the Inland Water Route, a 38 mile chain of lakes and rivers that begins in Conway and empties into Lake Huron at Cheboygan. The lakes and connecting rivers are enjoyed by boaters, kayakers, sailboaters and a wide variety of powerboats! Indian River is a prime fishing destination for both professionals and amateur fishermen but the professionals don't enjoy their catch any more than the five-year-old who catches his or her first fish while fishing with grandpa! Indian River is also at the middle of the North Central State Recreational Trail, a 62 mile trail from Gaylord to Machinaw City. The Indian River Golf Club has a beautiful 18 hole course and wthin an hour's drive there are dozens of other 9 and 18 hole courses. The Cross in the Woods is the Worlds largest crucifix.
