I rented this cottage for a week-long getaway with my parents. We enjoyed the gorgeous lake views sighting a bald eagle, a cormorant, loons and other birds. The use of the two kayaks and the convenient location were much appreciated. We kayaked, took several walks on the North Central trail, fished from our boat catching enough good-sized perch for a meal, swam, sunbathed, visited Indian River and Cheboygan for sightseeing, ice cream and meals, and loved the clear view of the stars and the Milky Way from the hot tub. The cottage is well-stocked with cooking utensils (we brought most of our own food to cook). There's no AC, but once you open up the windows and set up fans, the breeze keeps you cool!
Overall we really enjoyed our trip. You really need water shoes to walk out into the water, which we quickly got from Walmart 15 min away. Some of the screens had holes in them which let in some bugs, but we were outside most of the time anyway. The hot tub was amazing for my wife and I when my 1.5 year old son went to bed. We also went to Macinac Island for an afternoon because we so close. I had good luck fishing right in front my of the cottage a little ways. We would rent here again for sure.
We wanted to take a few days and get away and found this rental. Doreen was great in answering all our questions and making the booking easy. The cottage was very cute right on the water and allowed us to bring our dogs to make it a true family vacation. The cottage was nicely updated and had most everything you would need. There were a few
small things that would've given it five stars and once it was addressed it was assured it would be taken care of. The cleaning could've been better. It was overall very clean but upon arrival I could smell mildew in one room to find a dirty mop in the closet permeating the room and dead bugs right next to our pillows in the window sill that could've easily been wiped when changing the sheets. I was surprised it wasn't noticed, which made me wonder how clean really everything was since those things were so obvious. A few replacement kitchen items would have been nice too. The master bed was a bit thin and not very comfortable and the room desperately needed darkening curtains or something because every morning on vacation we were up with the sun at 5:00 a.m. I would definitely go back but bring a few things to accommodate our stay. Those few things listed aren't terrible, it just would have made it a five star if taken care of.
There were five of us that stayed at Mullett lake and we loved the cottage! I would definitely stay here again and recommend it for anyone looking for a getaway!
The cottage was great....well equipped...everything you need is there except food! The place was spotless, bright and airy. Owner was very easy to work with and great at communicating. A wonderful little town...we will be back! A++
