Comfortable stay in this cute cottage

  • 5 of 5

Had a great time staying in this cottage. Communication with the owner was very easy and she was super quick to respond to questions. The cottage is very well equipped and cozy. We loved the well supplied kitchen. Mullet Lake sunrises are beautiful and we had a couple of nights with clear enough skies to star gaze. The hot tub was a great bonus - we really enjoyed it during our stay. So close and convenient to many neat attractions: Jordan River Valley hiking, Ocqueoc Falls, Mackinac Island, Petoskey, Charlevoix, North Central State Trail. Enjoyed bringing our bikes to use on the trail and biking Mackinac Island. Fall colors were spectacular! Would definitely recommend a stay here.

Owner's Response: This cottage is truly in a remarkable area, so close to so many different type of day trips, you have to come back to do the rest of the activities which you didn't have time for If you plan on going to Mackinac Island, bring your bikes and take them on the ferry and you won't have to rent any bikes thereby saving$$$$! Everyone must check out Ocqueoc Falls, the largest waterfall in lower northern Michigan-you will be amazed with these waterfalls, very secluded too-great place to get engaged.....hint hint!!!!

Great Place Overall

  • 4 of 5

My husband and I recently stayed here for just a quick 3 night getaway. The weather wasn't the best but that is what the hot tub is forOverall we really liked the place, it was perfect for us and our 2 dogs. We went zip lining in Boyne highlands, drove the tunnel of trees, and visited Mackinaw Island. Also, we went to the local bar "Breakers" which we enjoyed as well. The only reason we didn't give this place 5 stars was because upon arrival it seemed our sheets wern't changed because there was sand and some grass in them and the mattresses were not very comfortable. We still really enjoyed our stay. The manager of the property was very helpful and upbeat as well.

Owner's Response: I'm glad overall these guests had a wonderful stay. Where else would allow guests to bring two dogs with you and share their piece of paradise as there are not many rental homes which are pet friendly...not to mention having an outdoor hot tub, wi-fi internet, satellite dish TV, Kayaks to use, North Central trail behind home.and are centrally located in prime hot spot vacation areas. I'm sorry these guests thought sheets were dirty when in fact the sheets were clean ....i would have eased their concern had they had had called me while they were staying and would have let them know at that time that those sheets were not supposed to have been used as those sheets were a cheap microfiber set that were being used but were supposed to have been disposed of, which after a few washes, the fabric formed rough piling. Pilling occurs when the fibers in a fabric or garment rub together, causing them to break off and accumulate in small piles. Pilling usually occurs from extended wear and washing, and could have felt like sand as these piles were rough a bit and these microfiber sheets also were magnets, which explains the piece of grass as everything stuck to them even after washing. i would have informed them due to their concern to put the clean fresh sheets which are neatly folded in the closet in second bedroom on the bed in place of. Also cottage has a washer and dryer with detergent and fabric softener which they could have used if need be so an easy fix and could have been remedied in a two minute conversation over the phone but owner/manager did not get the opportunity to assist in their concern. I sincerely apologize for these faulty sheets but no more worries to any future guests as these sheets are now disposed of and will pay more close attention to the fabrics wear and tear level.

Color Tour

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I rented this cottage for our 2015 color tour. The cottage was cute, clean and the location was perfect! 20-30 minutes from a lot of great things to do and places to see. The weather cooperated and we sat outside on the deck and enjoyed the view, had a fire, used the hot tub and walked our dog daily on the wonderful trail right behind the cottage. I highly recommend Cafe Noka right down the road, Breakers had great apps and Old Fashions were fab! Wilson's in Indian River, which is just a short drive had an awesome burger. We were within 20-30 minutes of Makinaw City, The Tunnell of Trees, Ocqueoc Falls and fun, got to see restaurants like Dam Site Inn, Etta's (5*), Hak-Ma-Tak (food $$$ and just ok) but a must see. An area rich with history and a lovely, homey cottage to come home to! Dorene is the property manager and answered any and all questions immediately! Just an all around great trip!
