I am the property manager. I manage this property for my parents. They own a second unit at Ocean Reef for personal use. We are from New Bern, just a short drive to Emerald Isle. I grew up going to Emerald Isle and now I enjoy taking my kids to Emerald Isle and staying at Ocean Reef Condos. We also love visiting the Aquarium and riding our bikes down the walking/biking trails in Emerald Isle. After a nice bike ride we stop in the Dairy Queen or Sweet Spot for a treat.
Renee English purchased this condo in 2012
This property was purchased because the owners already owned a unit at Ocean Reef. They loved their unit so much they bought a second one to rent out to you!
We love Ocean Reef because the condos themselves are unique and beautiful. The covered porches on the second level units allow you to rock on the porch in the shade and enjoy watching and listening to the ocean. It's a wonderful private community. It's location is just a short drive to all the great restaurants and the aquarium. Now just 3 short miles to a brand new awesome playground!
We were very pleased with this home. Everything fully functioning; close to beach and pool. Onsite security was a bit too "in your face" otherwise a welcome first try in Emerald Isle!
We had a great time. It's a nice community of renters with nice kids. The weather was wonderful and the rental was a perfect size for my family. We will definately go back next year!!
From the moment we stepped in we felt comfortable. Was an amazing stay and would recommend this to anyone!
My family and I spent a long weekend at this great town house. It was exactly as described and the owner was very accomidating. It has a great location, close to everything. The unit itself was very clean and tidy, and it was very comfortable. We really enjoyed our stay and hope to return again some day soon for a longer stay.
The gated community was nice and the condo was one row over from the beach access, which was wonderful. The beds were comfortable and the linens were clean. Overall, it was a good stay but there were some cleanliness issues that need to be addressed. There were crumbs in the cabinets and the dishes had to be rewashed. I was afraid to use the toaster oven because it was very unclean as well. The large jacuzzi tub in the master bath had brown resin in the jet areas so I did not use it and the shower did not close completely because the bottom of the shower door looked a little rotted out. There were also multiple light fixtures that had burnt out bulbs. It was a nice condo but it needs to be better maintained.
We haven't been to Emerald Isle in 11 years, previously we have rented homes (beachfront or 2nd row) several times with larger family groups. This was our first trip with just our immediate family with 3 children (11, 14, 17). The condo was the perfect size for our family. Rather than needing to setup/teardown the sleeper sofa daily, we brought a twin-sized air mattress which fit perfectly along side the buffet (we moved the recliner into the 'circle' of seating).
The unit was very clean and access to the pool and beach couldn't have been easier. Having the security guards patrol the community was quite a nice upgrade as well. My only very minor complaint is there needs to be some sort of builtin drying rack available for beachwear and towels (along the side porch? back porch?) as you are not allowed to hang towels/suits over the railings. Maybe we should have just setup a drying rack in the extra large Jacuzzi.
I'm sure we'll be back sometime in the future. I excluded the 55+ group due to the stairs. If you fine walking up/down a flight of stairs (and the single step between the family room and the kitchen) it would be an excellent place for 55+.
North Carolina Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores is a must see for all ages!
