About Owner/Property Manager

My wife Anne and I have lived in Grand Isle, Vermont for Twenty one years. Now we are raising our three year old son MAX here. Anne takes the ferry to work across the lake in Plattsburgh, NY. When I am not looking after MAX, I work as a Cabinet Maker out of our home here in Grand Isle. We both love to sail and spend a lot of our free time racing sailboats.

Owner/Property Manager purchased this cottage in 2009

Why Owner/Property Manager chose Lake Champlain Islands

We found this property seven years ago. it is just down the street from where we first lived in Grand Isle. We had been looking for a property to invest in for years. when this one became available we jumped on it. We are so glad we did. It is a special place and I hope you will enjoy it.

What makes this cottage unique

There are a few things that makes our cottage so wonderful. First, It sits only 30 feet from the lake so you feel like you are right there. There is a screened in porch where you can spend long evenings drinking wine and talking about your day or relaxing with a book. One of my favorite things to do is to sit on the lawn in an Adirondack Chair on a nice summer afternoon and watch the sailboats go by. The cottage is a quiet place. It sits 300 feet from a road that is not busy in the first place. If you want to venture out for the day or evening there are great choices. First, there are some great restaurants locally. Burlington is only 30 minutes away and if you have never been to Burlington you need to go. Burlington is a wonderful small city with fantastic restaurants, shops, music, and more. Montreal is a 90 minute drive north. just don't forget your passport.

Grand Isle is a wonderful place to bike, paddle, fish, swim, or just hang out and relax with your favorite drink. I hope you come and enjoy our cottage.

a classic lakeside cottage

  • 4 of 5

Sometimes almost TOO classic, but it's great to be right on the lake; the screen porch and the yard offer fantastic views of Champlain and the Adirondacks across the water. The 'beach' was a rocky one but you could enter the water with swim-shoes, or travel a short distance to a public sandy beach. It was November after all... so we weren't swimming anyway. The cottage itself was worn but okay: a decent and fairly well stocked kitchen, bedroom's small (access to the bed is tough being against the wall) but the bed is comfy, and the living-room offers a warm stove when needed and typical cottage seating. The wiring is in rough shape with too few outlets and plugs with bare wires pulling loose. We had a problem with brown water in the kitchen sink but that may have been caused by neighborhood line flushing. Bringing bottled water is always a good idea at lake cottages anyway.

All in all we had a nice stay.... though it was cold and we couldn't enjoy the outdoors fully. Burlington is close by, and a visit to Hero's Welcome General Store (N. Hero - 6 miles away) is a weird and wonderful shopping experience... food's good too. The scenery all around is fantastic, as always.

Owner's Response: The water at our cottage is excellent. The town flushed the lines the day before this guest arrived. That is why the water was brown when they first turned it on. The wiring at the cottage is fine. There is a lamp that could use a new cord which I will do promptly. I wish there were more outlets too, with all the charging of devices that we do. I will make sure I add two more outlets in the living room before the 2017 season starts.

Gorgeous views; Great family get-away

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend - gorgeous Fall foliage, incredible sunset and sunrises over Lake Champlain, bonfire on the beach. Only half hour from Burlington meant that our UVM student felt like she "got away". The weather was turning colder but the gas stove heated the whole place up nicely. Dave was great - easy to communicate with and very welcoming. We're going to make it an annual thing!

A Pleasant And Quiet Stay

  • 5 of 5

A comfortable little cabin with terrific views. Nice location close to the ferry to Plattsburgh and a short drive to Canada. All you will need is at the cabin, fully stocked kitchen, and a great screened in porch to eat meals and watch the activity on the lake. The beach is stony, but an old pair of sneakers will ease your walk along the shore and in the water, which was surprising warm for late September. A couple of mornings were a bit chilly, but 10 minutes of the gas fireplace soon took care of that. A peaceful and quiet setting.

Had a wonderful time at this cabin!

  • 5 of 5

This place has a lot to offer: peace and quiet, great views, spectacular sunsets, and tons of outdoor activities that are relatively close by. We stayed for 7 nights and felt at home. In fact, we didn't want to leave! The cabin is a little rustic but very quaint and cozy. Has all the amenities you could need. There's no cable but, David does provide a few movies and if you're nice to Kathy down at the library, she may just let you borrow a movie. The neighbors are close by but very quiet and quite friendly and they won't bother you. We plan on making this an annual trip. The owner is very helpful and easy to communicate with. Thanks again David!!

We had an awesome time here. Cottage was clean, well equipped, and comfortable. The owner was a pleasure to work with and kept in touch throughout the entire rental process. We enjoyed the Sunsets which were amazing and also swimming in the lake. The neighbors were friendly and quiet. We even had nightly fires down next to the lake to make the day complete! We will be back!

So lovely!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in this awesome little space this summer with our two kids. The pictures reflect it perfectly- it was sweet, very clean in a really special location. Beautiful sunsets, awesome beach access, a spacious yard to play in, a breezy screened in porch and comfy living spaces. We had a hard time leaving! We keep trying to figure out another time to get back and stay here again!
