About Katrina

We travel back and forth to Pagosa from Albuquerque, New Mexico. Katrina works as a midwife at the University of New Mexico, and Peter is the director of a non-profit. We have one dog child (a lab-chow mix), who loves Pagosa, especially chasing deer around the property.

Katrina purchased this house in 2012

Why Katrina chose Southwestern Colorado

We enjoyed our frequent trips to Pagosa to ski, soak in the springs, and listen to music at the festivals that we decided to buy a home here. We fell in love with this house the moment we saw it. During the day, the peaceful views of the meadow can be enjoyed from the expansive porch. At night, we often watch the shooting stars flare across the sky, and enjoy dinners, laughter, and making music with friends we host at the house. We love to cook and grill, so the kitchen reflects our desire to have everything needed for the perfect meal.

What makes this house unique

The location is perfect - it feels remote, yet town is right around the bend, hidden out of site. There are so many fun things to do in Pagosa - skiing, hiking, fishing, hunting, playing in the river, cross-country skiing, mountain biking, golfing, soaking in the hot springs, music festivals, and more!

Guestbook comments from the owner

“We spent three nights at the Split Pine Cabin over Christmas and had a wonderful time! Thanks to El Nino, the San Juan Mountains experienced historic snowfall. The skiing/boarding at Wolf Creek was epic. Everything about the cabin was great-- comfortable, well equipped, clean, great views, close to town, skiing and hot springs. The driveway was plowed twice for us over the three days. It snowed 20 inches on Christmas day alone!! Katrina and Peter were very responsive to our questions and needs. They stayed in touch with us throughout our stay and made numerous calls to find a back up snow plow driver to dig us out on the morning we left. We couldn't have asked for a more wonderful white Christmas in Colorado. ”

Family Pagosa Trip July

  • 5 of 5

The Split Pine property was extraordinary. The mornings were filled with deer passing through the property to the pasture down below and a large kitchen filled with too many chefs. The days were filled with multiple splashes at the hot springs and many fish brought to the hand on the fly. Every evening was spent outside at the large table on the covered deck reminiscing about childhood and past adventures over perfectly grilled Porterhouse Steaks and hamburgers. Everyone raved about the comfort of each bed, my youngest son has trouble sleeping and said "this was the first full nights sleep I've had in months".

The house was well kept and every thing was clean and easy to find or use. Well done to Katrina and her husband on providing such a remarkable place and being accessible and responsive to any and all questions.

On the morning of our departure as we loaded the cars, everyone was standing around saying their goodbye's, my grandson asked if we could come back next year. All the adults at the same time answered "YES"

See you next year !

The house was great! Lots of room to spread out. Deck was excellent for grilling. Beautiful views. Great location, not far from stores, or schools. Would definitely want to stay here again. The owners were very helpful and accommodating and they responded quickly to questions.

Splendid Retreat

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely time staying at the cabin. It is charming and excellent place for large families or a group to stay. It is very clean and well stocked with all the kitchen gadgets and amenities you need.

We loved the location. It has a remote feel yet is so close to town. We even walked to town a couple of days. We thoroughly enjoyed the views from the windows looking out to the horses grazing on the neighboring property and the meadow behind the cabin.

The homeowners were very accommodating and easy to communicate with via email and text. We look forward to staying at this property again.

Great Stay

  • 5 of 5

We were a group of friends who went up to Pagosa Springs to ski/board at nearby Wolff Creek. Unfortunately, the snow was not great so not the best of skiing. Split Pine cabin, however, was wonderful. The set up with so many beds and baths worked really well for our group of friends. We really enjoyed the large dining table which allowed all of us to sit together and eat or play games. We took advantage of the unseasonably warm weather to grill out on the deck and enjoyed the beautiful view. We even saw some deer near the cabin. As advertised, the driveway is a bit steep but we had no problem in the beautiful weather. It was also nice that the cabin was so close to town for ease of access to restaurants, grocery stores and the Springs. I would highly recommend this cabin as a great place to stay!

Best Cabin in Pagosa Springs

  • 5 of 5

Our experience with Split Pine Cabin was amazing! The accommodations were perfect for our large group. Spacious, clean, lots of room for kids and many common areas to sit and catch up with friends. Close to town, market, restaurants, hot springs and Wolf Creek ski area but still felt like a private retreat. Many great amenities. We cooked many meals in the spacious kitchen, sipped wine by the fire and enjoyed coffee on the deck overlooking the mountains and foothills of Pagosa Springs. Lots of memories were made for us here and we will definitely be back!
