FLORENCE ITALY PERFECT MEDICI APARTMENT
This beautiful Florence vacation rental apartment will make you think you stepped onto a picturesque Italian movie set when you enter the neighborhood behind the Boboli Gardens known as the 'Bobolino', or little Boboli Gardens. The tranquil Boboli Gardens were the private grounds of the Medici family's Pitti Palace, when this powerful family reigned supreme during the Renaissance. The 15th century wall that encloses these gardens, Florence's only central public gardens, runs directly behind the apartment. It is about an 10-minute walk down to Piazzale Porta Romana where there is a public entrance to the Boboli Gardens. To the east is the glorious walk up Viale Niccolo Macchiavelli to the million dollar view of Florence from the Piazzale Michelangelo.
Set among a few small quiet streets are two-story residences that were built in the 1920's. This is a very elegant, quiet neighborhood unknown to most tourists.
The Medici apartment is located on a picturesque lane off a small quiet street. As you walk down the lane you'll see the 15th century stone walls of the Boboli Gardens directly in front of you. The street is less then one block long and dead-ends at the ancient wall. It's a 15- minute walk to the Pitti Palace or the lively Piazza Santo Spirito which has many excellent restaurants and a daily outdoor produce market. The Ponte Vecchio is a 25 minute walk. This is an ideal location if you want to be outside the crowded historic center and don't mind walking. During daylight hours there is a shortcut through the grounds of the nearby Art Academy which shaves a few minutes off the walk. At night, after dinner out, you might want to take a taxi back to the apartment if your feet are crying for mercy after a long day of sightseeing!
For families with young children there is the playground for toddlers on the art academy grounds, something that you won't find in the historic center.
The Medici apartment is in a small building containing only two apartments. The Medici apartment is the lower of the two units but is one up from street level. Enjoy meals on the terrace and scenic views of the Tuscan hills from the living room windows. There is ample on-street metered parking in the neighborhood which is very reasonably priced when compared to the high price to park a car within the downtown area of Florence.
A terrace is a 'must have' for some of our guests and the Medici apartment has a lovely outdoor space. It's an ideal place to enjoy summer meals. There is a patio table with umbrella. It is accessed thru French doors off the kitchen.
The living room has a very large window that overlooks the lane. In the spring and summer enjoy seeing the neighbor's mature wisteria vine in bloom. In the distance are views of the gentle hills that surround the outskirts of Florence, dotted with stately villas. The lush vegetation and bucolic setting will make you feel like you're in the countryside even though you're a reasonable walk away to the famous sites like the Duomo, the David and the Ponte Vecchio! The living room has two small sofas. If you want to just sit and relax at home, there is plenty of reading light from the lamps next to the sofas. In the corner of the living room is a dining table and four chairs. Gaze out the living room window and you'll see the ancient walls of the Boboli Gardens immediately to your right.
The apartment was upgraded with air conditioning in 2013.
The master bedroom has windows opening onto the back garden and patio. The second bedroom has a large window that overlooks the lane. Both bedrooms have large armoires with ample clothing storage space. For a fifth person an extra twin bed can be set up in the living room, upon request.
The eat-in kitchen has French doors that open onto the terrace. Throughout the floors are handsome original polished terracotta tiles. You'll find this kitchen to be a delight to cook in. On the other hand, you're in Florence and on vacation, so chances are you'll be eating out at the many nearby excellent restaurants most days. However, the wonderful selection of fresh seasonal ingredients might tempt you to cook at home. Just at the edge of the neighborhood in the Piazza Porta Romana are a few daily produce stands that sell fresh fruits and vegetables, so handy if you need a few last-minute items. There's even one of Florence's few remaining tripe vendors at this location, if you care try this Florentine speciality!
The bathroom has a fully enclosed shower, sink, toilet and bidet. There is a second bathroom outside in a small building on the terrace, it has a sink, shower and toilet. The second bathroom is accessed out the kitchen doors.

Property manager/Owner purchased this apartment in 2004
From the first time we saw this apartment, while it was still being remodeled, we fell in love with it and the dreamy location which is a small slice of the Tuscan countryside in a city location: peaceful and quiet yet walkable to hustle and bustle of the city center and the historic sites.
The patio is a wonderful retreat from busy days spend sightseeing in Florence. Enjoy long walks uphill for stunning views of Florence from famed Piazzale Michelangelo. The apartment is very comfortable and nicely furnished.
The Medici Apartment was amazing! It was decorated perfectly and very homey and comfortable. Everywhere I turned I found another perk of the apartment to make our stay even more comfortable. The location was perfect. The area was very neigborhood like. Really felt like a place I would want to live. Close to restaurants, grocery stores, etc. We rented a car for Tuscany day trips and there was ample parking at night. It was very close to the Piazzo de Michaelangelo so we could park all day there and go into Florence by bus without having to worry about the daytime meters (no charge at night). I would highly recommend Italy perfect and I would highly recommend the Medici. We will even go back and stay there again in the future. Loved it!*****
This comfortable apartment is located in a pretty neighborhood behind the Boboli Gardens in the Oltranto section of Florence. That location is part of the "plus" because it's very, very quiet, and a welcome respite from the crowds of so much of Florence. The location is a bit of a "minus" though, because it does take awhile to get to the art galleries and churches over the river. There is a handy shortcut through a park that's available during the day, and there are a couple of bus lines that run near or fairly near the apartment. We bought a bus pass and made a lot of use of the buses. They run frequently. The apartment is well-equipped, with a small but entirely functional kitchen. There was some coffee, olive oil, and a few of the other basics available for us. Outside on the patio is a nice table and chairs, but it was a bit too cool for us to eat out there in the morning, sad to say. Outside, there's also a washing machine, stocked with detergent that was available for us to use. The living room has a TV, but we can't say much about it because we never used it. The WIFI is reliable and pretty strong. The bedroom that we used has a very comfortable bed, plenty of storage space and - that rarity - good lighting next to the bed for reading. The bathroom was small but very adequate. There was plenty of hot water, and everything worked fine. The arrangements for checking in were smooth, and the owner gave us a very thorough tour of the apartment. All in all, very satisfactory.
The apartment was absolutely great! After spending long days visiting Florence and all the sights, We really enjoyed the terrace in the backyard. It is located in a very beautiful area with a park you can walk through everyday to start your journey to downtown Florence. The neighbors were very nice and the neighborhood was very authentic.
The owners were extremely accommodating and very easy to deal with.
Truly enjoyed our trip and we would stay here again on our next visit to Florence. We would definitely recommend Italy Perfect to our friends.
We had a wonderful stay at the Medici apartment. It was clean, spacious with all the amenities we required and was on a quiet street. It was also only a short (15 to 20 minute) walk to the Florence centre. I would highly recommend staying there!
The Medici apartment is the perfect place to begin and end a day in Florence. We walked everywhere and loved the neighbourhood. Shops were convenient and the parks and green spaces were an extra treat. We were able to stroll to the city centre in just 20 minutes. The apartment itself is charming and has everything you could possibly need. By the end of our stay, we felt we had learned what it is like to live in Florence and not just pass through as visitors. This is what makes the Medici apartment truly special.
Close enough to Florence's main attractions and far enough from the noise of the city to wind down after a day in this magical city.
The experience at Medici was perfect from the inquiry, the reservation process, the meeting with our greeter Andrea and throughout our 4 days stay. The apartment was immaculate and fully equiped with everything we needed to prepare breakfast and a few dinners. There is a grocery store and a great little meat store within a 10 minutes walk through a very nice park. There are a couple of fantastic "pasticceria" where you will be able to enjoy homemade pastries and "dito".
The patio adds a local flavor to the entire experience.
The apartment is also very well located if you wish to travel to and from other cities (Siena, San Gimignano) without having to cross Florence's city center.
We highly recommend the Medici apartment to anyone who wish to get immersed in the Florentian culture and enjoy a real taste of Italy.
The Medici apartment is a perfect retreat for anyone who wants to live like a real Fiorentini for a week or a long weekend. Its location, behind and in sight of the Boboli Garden walls, is a 15-20 minute walk to the Ponte Vecchio. The feel of the residential neighborhood with its green parks and gardens is a peaceful world away from the tourist hustle and bustle. If you want to experience a classic Italian apartment this place is for you. The kitchen is fully equipped; the two bedrooms are comfy and charming; the living room has a pretty view and the back, open air terrace is the perfect place to share aperitifs with friends and family. We found good groceries and bakeries close by and enjoyed the open air vegetable and fruit market (and the taxi stand) by the Porta Romana -- as well as several small cafés. We ate at excellent neighborhood trattorias all within easy walking distance. Each day we enjoyed the walk down Via Romana and across the Ponte Vecchio to the big tourist sites but we loved coming home to relax in our little corner of paradise. BTW the apartment was very clean, the wifi was good and Italy Perfect was easy to deal with. Great place for a family with older children and/or a group of friends who enjoy walking and/or running.
Directly behind the Pitti Palace and Boboli Gardens.
