Our condo is located in the Historic El Cortez Hotel on the 5th floor with amazing views of Coronado and the San Diego Bay. The condo has been recently upgraded for those with discerning tastes. Beautiful and Cozy Luxury Condo In The Historic El Cortez

The El Cortez - graceful, grand lobby with its heritage feel, yet speedy elevator and peaceful hallways is

centrally located between downtown and the expansive & very beautiful Balboa park with its lush greenery, Zoo, gardens

The garage staff were graciously & kindly always ready to assist. The Little Yoga studio is right downstairs - quality teachers of vinyasa with a peaceful Buddha statue watching over classes is a must do! And the Sole Luna right downstairs too, is a regular casual stop for brunch or cuppa longing.

Owner Art was kindly flexible with my start date, very supportive when needed, and very invisible when not. The perfect host for my beautiful month long stay here. My highest recommendations to future SD journeyers - Enjoy!

Very enjoyable month

If you are familiar with the downtown area, you undoubtedly know where the El Cortez is located. It sits atop Cortez Hill, and before all the high-rises, it could be seen from just about anywhere in the city. Being 90 years old has its attractions and distractions: it is within walking distance of much of downtown, but it's noisy (street noise, not neighbors). Also, the windows could stand a good washing. Although sitting atop a hill offers a relatively good view, and you can walk many places, just remember: what walks down must walk up. If you aren't in good walking shape when you arrive, you should be when you leave. In my case, that wasn't all bad. Public transportation around San Diego is very good; it just doesn't come up Cortez Hill.

As to the unit itself: look at the pictures. What you see is what you get. It is tastefully decorated, though somewhat cluttered. Because of how things are laid out, there is more stuff than space. I think if I owned it, I would try reversing the dining and the living areas, but that didn't look like an ideal solution either. The sofa and chair are very uncomfortable (both are futons) for sitting any period of time, and watching TV while sitting on the sofa means that you always have to turn your head 90 degrees to the right. The most comfortable item in the unit is the bed—it's excellent.

Even though I may seem to be overly critical, I don't intend to be. San Diego is one of our favorite cities to visit, and I certainly would not hesitate to come back here.

Beautiful condo with great breezes and more....

The huge windows allow a wonderful breeze and lots of light to come in the living area and bedroom. A well-supplied kitchen and great lay-out. The owner is very easy to work with. I enjoyed walking our chihuahua, Bella to Tweet Park a few blocks up the street every morning and evening. The security guys in the garage are incredible - so friendly and helpful. A popular donut shop, Christine's coffee cart an Starbucks are just down the hill. A good Vietnamese restaurant is over on 6th Avenue. A great stay that we really enjoyed.

Awesome luxury condo for vacation

We stay at this condo for one month. My wife, me, and our dog are very enjoy our vacation during our stay. The people are friendly and very helpful, especially the valents were always nice to provide their assistances in our requests. The owner was very thoughtful in very details. This place also located in a very great location, which is close to gas lamp by walking and to other attractions by driving, both are within 15 mins. Anyway, this is an awesome place for vacation in downtown San Diego. We will suggest it to all of our friends when they would like to have their vacation in San Diego.

Great place

My husband, dog and I stayed in this very nice condo for two months while renovating our own condo. The owner was readily available and very responsive to any questions. Cool downtown location; outstanding valets who were a tremendous help to my husband, who has mobility issues. The garage is kind of crazy (tandem parking and lots of obstructions) but they took care of us very well. Helpful little convenience store in the building and a decent Italian place at the corner. If you have more than one car, there is street parking usually available and you can also park across the street tat the Holiday Inn - we got a very reasonable monthly rate. The condo is very well equipped and very elegantly decorated, though not very large - for our long stay, we had to temporarily remove a lot of stuff and store it offsite to have room for our own stuff. That would not be necessary for a shorter stay. and you would definitely enjoy the decoration as is. Enjoy!
