About Peter

We are a family with 3 children and love coming to Bend. We have been coming to Bend for years and finally decided to buy a place of our own.

Peter purchased this condo in 2012

When we first walked in, we had nothing bad to say about the place! Modern, updated, nice amenities.

However, it would be nice if there was a washer/ dryer in the unit. That was one thing I overlooked because I assumed there was one in the unit. I'm assuming there was one at the community house. We were in Bend during record snowfall so our back porch was not accessible and neither was the bbq. Everything was solid ice and snow but this unit had a nice forest view. The highway was barely noticeable through the trees. Very peaceful and quiet on a Sunday- Wednesday. The nearest grocery store was only 6-8 minutes away. Same with downtown Bend and many restaurants and bars. Bachelor was only a 25 min drive in the snow. Parking lot was getting pretty snowed in, though. If you didn't have a 4x4 vehicle, it could easily get stuck. No plow had come through while we were there. The bed and pillows in the downstairs room were fine, the gas fireplace in the living room was great. The upstairs room has a futon and a bunk bed. I was told the bunk bed was more comfy, actually. The futon was stiff. There is a pool and hot tub at the community center that is accessible but if we hadn't brought extra towels, there may not have been enough left in the house for personal use. So keep that in mind for winter tub sessions or summer pool time. MAY WANT TO BRING EXTRA TOWELS. Same with wash cloths, wish there were extra available. The body wash/ shampoo/ conditioner offered was nice! Pantene and Dove. Other than those few things, great place for a short stay! and very affordable. Would definitely come here again in a pinch.

Wonderful condo for family vacation/getaway!

  • 4 of 5

We loved our stay very much! It was a great place for our family to vacation. Our young daughter loved having a play structure so close too. Our only suggestion would be to have a larger bed in the downstairs bedroom and more comfortable couches in the living area. Other than that, the condo was wonderful for our family vacation!

Perspective on staying here with young children part 2

  • 5 of 5

See the beginning of my review in Part 1

There is a large section of landscaping right in front of the condo, so there are no parking spaces immediately convenient to the condo like some of the other units have. We either had to park several units to the left or the right. But on the other hand, a cute, chubby gray squirrel frolicked right below our front door almost every time we came in or out.

The pool was our favorite part of this place. The main pool has a large 3 foot deep section with portions of it in the shade after noon and portions in the sun. I loved it! Grandma came to visit and sat on a lawn chair on the grass in the shade right by the pool with the baby. We were able to move from the sun to the shade depending on whether we were getting too warm or too cool. The rest of the main pool is 6 feet deep. Adjacent to the 3 foot section is a toddler pool that is 1.5 feet deep. They were so close together that my 8-year-old and 5-year-old were able to toss a beach ball back and forth between the pools. There are two hot tubs: one is hotter than the other. We loved playing at the pools! The shower in the Women's restroom was out of order while we were there but it didn't matter because it was such a short walk back to the condo where we could shower in privacy and then let our things dry on the back deck. If you are a mom of young kids, you know the stress of wrestling them to and from the swimming pool! I think this is as easy as it could possibly be, short of having a pool inside my house!

The kids enjoyed playing at the playground too.

Peter was very helpful. At one point the dishwasher wouldn't start (turns out the outlet breaker had tripped and I just needed to press the button on the outlet). I emailed Peter, thinking to hear back in a few hours but an answer came back within minutes! One of the ACs stopped working at one point too and he explained that the water probably needed to be drained from it and offered to have his cleaning staff come do it for us and apologized for the inconvenience. I mention these things, not because they were an inconvenience, but because things WILL go wrong no matter where you stay and I appreciated that Peter was willing to respond so quickly and cheerfully.

Overall, a fun and nice place to stay and very workable for families with young children.

Perspective on staying here with young children part 1

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed here with our 4 young children. The three oldest were upstairs with the bunk beds and futon and the baby was in with us. I wish I'd known that there was already a portable crib/packnplay there because it would have saved me having to pack it. Very nice! There were a few games for the kids, like Chinese checkers, Hi Ho Cheerio, etc. We stayed in June and were glad to make use of the portable air conditioners in the main room and each of the bedrooms. Just so you know, because the hose of the AC sticks in the window, you can't shut the blinds so you get a lot of light in the morning. Perhaps curtains would help with that? If you are staying in the winter you will want to know that each of the rooms is controlled on a separate thermostat. Even though we had the heat off, the upstairs room got very warm because heat was rising from the condo below us. Again, thankful for those ACs!

The kitchen is very small so there is not a lot of room to store any food you buy that isn't refrigerated. You basically have to leave it on the counter. On the plus side, the small size of the kitchen is charming and makes it easy to keep clean! It took me a few minutes to find the pans for the oven because they were stored IN the oven. Even so, the only pans were two broiler pans and a pizza pan with lots of openings, like a grid. I would have given almost anything for a cookie sheet or something flat to bake on! It was nice to have a toaster, microwave, fridge and freezer and dishwasher. There were a few staples in the fridge and cupboard, like pancake syrup and cooking oil. The silver metal bar stools (not the black ones pictured) are high enough that my two children who are usually in booster seats at the table were able to eat at the breakfast bar without a problem. And yet, it wasn't too high for adults. I'm not sure how that happened, but it was magical.

The laundromat is not very far from this unit. The washer costs $1.25 per load and the dryer is $1.50, which was enough to get our things dry on one cycle. I would recommend packing some laundry detergent with you in a sandwich baggie so you don't have to pay $1.25 for one load-worth of soap. I was very glad I'd brought some because things come up with little kids! When you get to the Laundromat it appears locked but you can open the door by inserting any key into the keyhole or even turning it with a penny.

See the rest of my review in part 2 if it lets me post it

Appreciated the flexibility to check in early! very kind. Everything was great...except the couches! My only complaint is the living area furniture, very uncomfortable. You can't sit up on it! Truly everything else was wonderful kitchen well supplied.
