About David Hahn

We are spending more time away from our western Washington base these days, part of the year in Arizona and summers in Alaska.

David Hahn purchased this house in 2010

Why David Hahn chose Anthem

We chose Anthem because it is north of Phoenix in the desert foothills away from the city w/clean air, in a safe, secure, well planned family oriented community with activities to suit anyone's taste. Our home is within a 30 minute commute of most of the attractions that a city the size of Phoenix has to offer, and less than an hour from the Sky Harbor Int'l Airport.

What makes this house unique

Very clean, newer home

Spring Break Vacation

  • 5 of 5

Home is well kept, roomy for the 4 of us and a child. Beds are very comfortable. Was a good get away and a comfort, after long days of spring trainning and visiting the surrounding sites. My family and I have deen doing this 7 years and found this to be one of the nicer places we have stayed in the Phoenix area.

We came to Phoenix to see the Fiesta Bowl. Had 3 adults and 2 small children staying at the home. It was very comfortable and worked out great.

Only draw back was the cable did not have ESPN so we had to leave to watch other bowl games.

Home was very clean, quiet area.

Uncomfortable Experience

  • 1 of 5

We had a very negative experience with the owner of this property. Partway through our stay, we learned that he intended to charge us for items that we thought were included when we booked the property (electricity, WiFi, and credit card processing fees). We did not feel that he communicated these extra charges to us clearly when we booked the property. After we checked out, he failed to return any portion of our security deposit to us until we requested it many days after checkout. Two weeks after our checkout, he refunded only a portion of our security deposit, withholding the rest to pay for WiFi and electricity during our stay, as well as to reimburse him for HomeAway's credit card processing fees. After we contacted HomeAway for help, he eventually refunded the entire security deposit, but we did not enjoy having to go through that process after checking out.

The house itself had some issues as well. It was advertised as "allergically clean" when we booked it, but we did not feel that it lived up to that description. The carpet had some type of small white hairs on it that appeared like pet hair, and there was food on the floor under the bed in two of the bedrooms. The air filters in the house were also visibly dirty, which is not conducive to clean indoor air. Also, the door of the fridge was full of half-used condiments.

After the first week of staying in the house, the number of available channels on the DirecTV was drastically reduced. Many of the channels we would like to have watched were suddenly unavailable, when we had watched them the previous week.

We also felt somewhat uncomfortable with the fact that the master bathroom had a window next to the toilet (at eye-level for a man) with no curtain on it. The window looked directly into a window of the house next door. Also, we could have used some more hand towels, as we found only 4 hand towels in the house, for 2 bathrooms.

One of the bedrooms is decorated with two twin beds, rainbow polka-dots, and butterflies. In our opinion it is very feminine, which is lovely for girls but may not be so for boys.

Overall, the experience would have been fine if we had not felt so uncomfortable with the owner. We did not feel that he communicated clearly all of the fees that we would be charged until we were already staying in the house. We had to continue to deal with the return of the security deposit after checking out, which was an unnecessary headache for us.

Owner's Response: Thank you Holly for taking the time to review. Again, I am sorry that your experience was uncomfortable. None of our previous guests have had any of the issues that you cited but in a continuing effort to improve our property we will take them into account. You stayed almost the full month before calling attention to the posted online rental agreement policies that you disagreed with. Our attempts to explain those policies to you were unsuccessful. We have revised our rental agreement so that this will never happen again.

What a nice home on the north side of Phoenix. Several of us attended an event nearby and stayed at the house for a long weekend. Nice, comfortable, clean, easy access etc. Perfect for our needs.

Quiet and Relaxing Spring Break

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 5 stayed at the Bridlewood property during our Spring Break, 2015. The house was clean, well equipped, and offered plenty of space for our family. We especially enjoyed the patio swing, BBQ, and proximity to walking trails where we spotted lots of desert wildlife. The house is conveniently located in a quiet neighborhood near beautiful parks and shopping. The owners were responsive and attentive to our needs. Overall, we had a wonderful time and can't wait to visit again soon!
