Welcome to The Chestnut House in the heart of the most exclusive and the safest area of New Orleans - The Garden District.

Located on the upper floor of a beautifully renovated Arts and Crafts home from the turn of the last century this 3BR, 2BA vacation rental is a beautiful blend of modern amenities and old New Orleans tradition. And, it is just 2 blocks from the main Mardi Gras parade route!

The Two Bedrooms with ensuite Baths have Queen Beds. In addition there is another room with two Twin Beds - so four people can have their own beds, or the kids can have a room of their own.

This property features 3 completely separate bedrooms; kitchen with breakfast nook for 6, dishwasher, wine cooler, refrigerator with ice/water dispenser, and laundry closet; 2 new bathrooms - one with a walk in shower and the other with a tub/shower combo; formal dining room with seating for 8; spacious living room with flat screen TV; central air and heat, secure wifi, and Direct TV with all the premium channels.

Our professionally managed Vacation Rental is licensed (NOLA STR# 17STR-07082) in accordance with with the new April 2017 city ordinance. There is plenty of safe on-street parking and we have a 24/7 exterior monitoring system to insure the security of our guests.

For larger groups please inquire about adding an additional bedroom on the floor below.

From our location on Chestnut Street and Washington we are just one block from the renowned Commander's Palace Restaurant and Lafayette Cemetery. Just another two blocks further and you're at the St. Charles Street Car which can take you to the French Quarter in under 15 minutes, or uptown to Audubon Park and the River bend.

Magazine Street, with it's many restaurants and bars, is just 2 blocks away in the other direction. There you will find lots of eateries from the finest dining to the basic burger, BBQ, and everything in between. There are galleries galore, boutiques, specialty shops, and those special local purveyors of things exclusive to New Orleans.


PLEASE NOTE: As this property is in a residential, quiet area, no loud parties are allowed. Only those booked and registered on the reservation will be allowed on the property. If you will be having guests who are not registered, we must be notified in advance. Quiet hours are 10pm to 10am in respect for other guests.

WE ARE FULLY LICENSED BY THE CITY OF NEW ORLEANS AND IN FULL COMPLIANCE WITH ALL LICENSING AND SAFETY REQUIREMENTS. There is a central station monitoring system for fire and smoke as well as video cameras throughout the property for added security.

About Roberta Facinelli

Although we are full time residents of New Orleans for the past five years, we have been coming here on a regular basis for the past 25 years. Your host Tom is in the music business, and has spent many months every year in New Orleans. Roberta spent decades as a News Reporter, and one of her first assignments was covering Mardi Gras nearly 30 years ago. As they became 'empty nesters' the family home on Long Island NY was sold, and they came to New Orleans! Roberta's family was in the hospitality business for over 40 years, and she and Tom love meeting new people and welcoming them to our wonderful city!

This property is about as centrally located as you could possibly be in New Orleans, in addition to being the safest neighborhood in the city. We are just steps from the St. Charles streetcar, which can take you directly to the French Quarter, or Uptown in the other direction towards Audubon Park and the mansions that line St. Charles. It's a quiet, residential neighborhood, yet close to all that New Orleans has to offer, including the multitude of restaurants and shops on Magazine St., the historic Lafayette Cemetery, and the world famous Commanders Palace restaurant. If you don't want to take the streetcar, Uber is usually just a few minutes away, as they hang out at Commanders. We live on the first floor of this property, and look forward to welcoming guests!

This apartment is ideal for couples, singles or families. It's light and airy, has lots of rooms, a full luxury kitchen with granite countertops and stainless appliances , two bathrooms, and a full formal dining room and living room, in addition to the three bedrooms. Beautiful Home - Perfect Location!

Fantastic home - Fantastic location - Fantastic hosts! I was in town with my 2 (adult) Sons for my 3rd and youngest Son's bachelor weekend - He was staying at a different home with other friends close by. Being my first visit to NOLA, I did not know what to expect as far as housing - but this home blew my expectations away - first of all, it looks like something out of "House & Garden" magazine - from the outside to the inside - it had everything we needed and more - beautiful furnishings, appliances, tables, chairs, wine fridge, wi-fi, and by the way, the beds were extremely comfortable. The house is located in a very safe area, in a beautiful neighborhood, surrounded by some great restaurants and bars, close to everything - but far enough away from the craziness to provide a nice sanctuary for me trying to rest up in between events with my Sons and their friends! I had the pleasure to meet Roberta and she is wonderful - super friendly, helpful, and made some great recommendations for dinners and live music. I look forward to returning , but this time with my wife!

Beautiful neighborhood and great place to stay

Roberta and Tom set you up to not fail with this place. You get the whole second floor to yourself and it has everything you need. Three rooms all with their own fan. A full size kitchen and a laundry room that was used this past visit. It’s a few blocks away from Magazine St and that’s a great place to walk up and down. It’s far enough from Bourbon St to have the peace and quiet you want. It’s also a very close uber/lyft ride away. The Garden District is a great neighborhood to stay and walk around in. Thank you Roberta and Tom for the great place and will book with them again.
