This adorable 1-room cabin is perfect for two! Larger than most hotel rooms, but includes all the comforts of a cottage. It features a gas log fireplace, a great deck and an outdoor fire pit. It sits on a picture perfect lot with lots of space. You will also have access to the kayaks and bikes stored on the property.
This cabin has been completely renovated down to the studs by a local craftsman that specializes in restoring vintage cabins. It features Michigan maple hardwood floors as well as a maple butcher block counter top. The bedding is top quality with comfort in mind. The blankets are Hudson Bay woolens and will keep you warm and cozy during the coldest Northern Michigan nights. Plush bath linens are included. The kitchenette is small but well equipped. It contains a small refrigerator, microwave, toaster, crock pot, griddle and coffee pot. All dishes, silverware, linens, etc. are included.
The cabin is located in the Mackinaw City area near town and the Ferry Docks, shopping, restaurants, Fort Michilimackinac and the Lighthouses.
After years of spending time in the Mackinaw area, we decided to purchase this great piece of property. We have 5 children, 4 grandchildren and two more on the way! My husband is a retired Xray tech and I work in medical imaging in Ohio and Indiana.
Diane Moreno, Manager purchased this cabin in 2006
We chose it because of the proximity to everything we love to do! Great trails for biking, hiking, snow-shoeing or snow-mobiling. The ferry is within easy reach and we are in the center of some of Michigans most spectacular scenery. Where else in Michigan can you watch the sun rise over one of the Great Lakes (Huron) and set over another (Michigan) and never leave your seat?
The Bunk House is small but has everything you need plus a roomy yard and lots of outdoor space. You will also share access to 4 bikes and 3 kayaks with the residents of the Cozy Cottage.
The Bunkhouse was absolutely wonderful! Everything was perfect from the super comfy bed and fluffy towels to the beach suggestion! We had a great time all week - lots of camp fires meals... we also went to the Wilderness State Park location that you suggested - the beach and hikes were great. We spent a few nights watching the sunset at Int'l Dark Sky Park (Headlands), and went to the island for a day. Finally, we headed up to the UP for a day.
Thank you so much for providing the absolutely perfect location to spend our vacation. I would do it again in a heartbeat! So sad we couldn't say longer. :)
My husband and I stayed at the Bunk House for 3 nights in July and we absolutely loved it! So clean and cozy! The bunk beds were just fine for us. My husband and I are not small people and we fit in the bottom bunk just fine. Had all the amenities we needed. We would stay here again for sure! Location is great...even though it is not right on the water there beach is only a couple of minutes drive away as well as downtown Mackinaw City!
We loved our stay here at the Bunk House! Mackinaw City is beautiful and fun and this cabin was so charming and comfortable. I would stay here over a hotel room any day of the week!!
It is well furnished and pretty, as well as convenient to all there is to do. Thank you for the great place to stay!
Mackinaw city is a great base camp for all of your 'up north' adventures. Located on the shores of Lake Michigan and Lake Huron, graced by the mighty Mackinac Bridge, everything is so accessible. You can shop, visit the historic Fort Michilimackinac, the Mcgulpin Point lighthouse or the Old Mackinaw Point lighthouse. Take Sheplers Ferry to beautiful Mackinac Island for a step back in time. Horse-drawn buggies and bikes are the only forms of transportation there! Lots of great shopping and fine resturants. Hop on a bike or your snowmobile right from town and access the great trails. Visit Taquamenon Falls, Oswald Bear Ranch, Whitefish Point, Saulte Ste Marie, Harbor Springs, Petoskey, Indian River - all within an hour. Some of Michigans finest sandy beaches are within minutes. If you enjoy casinos, there are 3 within 45 minutes! This is a great, year 'round destination. Fishing, birdwatching, kayaking, hunting, snowmobiling, eco-tours, boating, biking...The possibilities are endless!
