Duluth Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Immaculate cabin on a spectacular and * 'woodsy' lake setting.

The Red Cabin is booked from May 1, 2016 through October 31, 2016! (We still have some late winter, early spring dates available-contact me with your dates….)

Is your summer vacation on your mind? What about you contracted workers looking for the dream home away from home for extended time? Look no further, a beautiful retreat is yours as you enjoy clean and complete accommodations in the Red Cabin on Caribou Lake. Contact me today to work out the details of your stay! The morning sun will peek in the east windows to awaken your adventurous spirit. In the summer, perhaps start the day with a morning walk or kayak amidst the calling Loons of the Caribou Bay. If you are visiting in the winter, this northern wonderland is smack dab right out your front door so bring your gear and join the ice fisherman, snowshoers and cross country ski enthusiasts on the lake. Don't forget to load your bikes and explore the Munger Trail or the North Shore areas. You can choose between the Duluth nightlife in Canal Park (keep an eye out for the big ships slipping under the lift bridge) or a quiet evening around the fire as every sunset is a vibrant and new display to behold.

You will not be disappointed with all the amenities including a full kitchen, large screen tv, wi-fi and a sunroom off the deck. While there is one bedroom, the other living areas hold futons to sleep a total of 4. Two adults and kids are a comfortable fit for The Red Cabin. Kayaks and a canoe available for your enjoyment as well as yard games...just watch out for the deer, rabbits, chipmunks, ducks, otters, birds and other wildlife as you boche, croquet or just watch the snowflakes fall and the stars twinkle...slip your way to utter relaxation!

About Jill Brown

I am a Registered Nurse with a passion for Quality Management. I embrace the principles of the Malcolm Baldrige Criteria for Performance Excellence after seeing first hand the value brought to an organization after assessing the critical aspects of work against the criteria. I have enjoyed learning how to continually try to exceed the expectations of all guests of honor as my quality journey continues and I keep my mission alive; making the Red Cabin your Duluth Destination Delight!

Why Jill Brown chose Minnesota

The first moment I set sight on the Red Cabin, I knew it was one of the most perfect places in the world. I immediately took to the special details so well thought out inside the cabin while promptly falling in love with the surrounding woods, rocks, the lake and peninsula.

It is amazing how each season is unique and to be celebrated. While swinging near the shore with a refreshment in the summer, it is mezmerizing to imagine ice and snow across the expanse of the bay settling in, in but a few short months; and the reverse as you sit in the same swing bundled up in your winter gear imagining summer, the lake being a body of open water; always moving, never the same. When the ice comes and goes it is a treasure of sights and mysterious sounds that can't be properly described in word. Some early winters, the lake freezes hard before the snow and allows for ice skating; everywhere! A rare experience only few will ever know.

The Red Cabin location is superb. To be so close to the edge of town (and what an exciting, unique and cool town Duluth/Hermantown is!) while yet being out in the woods; it is hard to find anything like it left in this world.

The Red Cabin is just an experience in itself. I am honored to share it with people that are good stewards of God's world and will uphold and respect my Red Cabin and her grounds. It is expecially delightful for me to hear the shrieks of joy from young children out in the yard, feeding a fish or making a snowman.

I look forward to visiting with you as you plan your vacation; I believe you will find unparalleled excellence at The Red Cabin.

Awesome!

  • 5 of 5

One of the best stays we've ever had anywhere. The cabin is a beautiful spot, immaculately kept, peaceful and quiet even with neighbors nearby. And Jill is a fantastic host, full of helpful info and just a really nice lady. She'll even make you cookies and monkey bread.

The only problem with this place is that it's already booked for next year. :(

Owner's Response: Hi Lorinda...Thank you for your kind words. I am sorry The Red Cabin is booked but the way time flies-it will be the blink of an eye and I can have you back. I am super excited to see what creative juices The Red Cabin inspires from your visit. I am LOVING your current book, "Children of Earth"...being a sci-fi adventure fan I am lapping it up. Plus I am excited to dive into your hubbie's first book of the "The Dragon's Treasure" trilogy. I have hosted artists, meditation experts and similar creative souls-but you are my first real authors! The Red Cabin just keeps getting cooler. Cheers!

Unbeatable Northwoods Relaxation!

  • 5 of 5

This place is instantly relaxing...the view from the deck across the lake is like something out of a commercial. For a mellow northwoods getaway, I cannot imagine anything better. I took my parents up to visit some relatives around Duluth for a long weekend. My mother, who herself ran a successful Bed and Breakfast for over 15 years, kept describing the Little Red Cabin as "perfect," and on almost as many occasions said, "Boy, she thought of EVERYTHING!" You could not ask for a more considerate, positive, or helpful hostess than Jill. Do yourself a favor and stay here and chill out for a while.

Owner's Response: Awe shucks....THANK YOU! How very kind! I am humbled though-your mother had a B&B for all those years-and so very honored to hear her words. I am so glad you enjoyed your stay and was delighted to meet you all. You were wonderful guests and The Red Cabin's door is ALWAYS open to you and yours. Cheers!

Last Minute Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We wanted a quick escape to celebrate our recent engagement...Jill greeted us with cookies in the oven and wine in the fridge...we wanted to see the fall colors and it didn't disappoint...the location is perfect, the cabin is beyond fantastic and we wish we could have stayed longer!! We made the quick drive into Duluth for dinner and then came back to sit on blankets by the fire pit and stare at the stars which were the most incredible we've ever seen!! Jill asked us when we arrived what time we'd like our homemade monkey bread delivered the next morning and at 7:30am on the nose she arrived with a plate of steaming hot delicious monkey bread!! We then ventured out in the canoe and were delighted to see and hear loons, American eagles and a bald eagle that we caught on video actually taking flight!! We will absolutely be back...and much sooner rather than later...we've already told our friends about this little magic hideaway...we aim to go back this winter to see it as a winter wonderland...we can't thank you enough Jill!!

Owner's Response: It was so great to meet you both and I am thrilled I could make your quick get-a-way a reality! I am glad you enjoyed the little "extras". I want everyone to know just how special The Red Cabin experience is and I give it my all-the thanks go back to you though; for being great guests and great stewards of my little piece of heaven here. Perhaps on a future visit the swans, herons and our busy little otter will peek out to say hello. Thanks so much for the kind words-I look forward to your next visit! Cheers!

Absolutely wonderful experience!!!

  • 5 of 5

We saw the little red cabin on the website. It was adorable and we couldn't wait to get inside. Once we arrived we realize this place is just magical. Beautiful Decour, beautiful property, and even more magnificent sunset. My parents stay there for two months. They couldn't have had a better time if they tried. Being only 15 minutes from Duluth, and everything that you could possibly need at your fingertips. It was a place to call home For the two months they were there. The owners are absolutely wonderful! I have nothing but the highest regard for this listing, the owners and our experience.

Owner's Response: Kelly, I am so thankful you found "The Red Cabin"-having your folks was absolutely a treat. Wonderful people and THE MOST AMAZING STEWARDS OF THE RED CABIN AND HER SURROUNDINGS. Wow, they get the trophy for leaving her more sparkly than when they arrived!! Having the grandkids come was the icing on the cake for us-we think the sunsets were even more wonderful reflecting off D and T's red hair! I am so excited to hang out next summer again with your family. Cheers to you all!

Let me start by saying i have never had a host like Jill! She is absolutely AMAZING!!! She drove accross the state to get the house ready early fornus, so we could check in a day earlier then expected. We were greeted with a plate full of hot chocolate chip cookies, which were bomb!!! Fyi...im a Chef, and very picky, Jill has bomb cookies! She also baked us fresh cinamon rolls, rice crispy treats and peanutbutter bars!!! She was always right there if we needed anything, such an amazing host!!! Now for the cabin, super cool, amazing and cozy little cabin, beautiful inside and out! Has everything you need to cook all week, fish on the lake, or just hang out and enjoy the view of the lake. I wish i could give this review 20 stars because thats how i felt about our experience! Thank you so much Jill, you and the cabin wrte amazing and we cant wait to see you next summer!!!

Owner's Response: Hello to Devin and the boys...You failed to mention we enjoyed the absolute best fish tacos we have ever had in our lives thanks to you Chef! I am not exaggerating...crazy good. Perhaps you need to drive the Q UP Barbeque Truck from down south and make a Duluth run-there are lots of hungry Minnesotan's in our neck of the woods. I am delighted you all had a great time. I will start experimenting on some new baking recipes and see what I can come up with for your next visit. Cheers and Bon Appetit.

Rest & Relaxation

  • 5 of 5

We arrived at the Little Red Cabin and were welcomed by warm chocolate chip cookies that everyone mentions. Mmmm.. Great treat after long drive. The cabin was just as portrayed on the website. It was so beautiful and relaxing and those sunsets over the lake are just beautiful. (we were treated to some brilliant red sunsets as the smoke from Canadian fires was moving south). And those wonderful carmel rolls!...another treat from Jill. We used the canoe in the peaceful calm morning. The cabin is about 20-25 minutes from Duluth so we were able to take day excursions and come back and relax. We happened to be there over Independence Day and what a firework display by the Duluth harbor. There is so much to do in Duluth and the surrounding area...lighthouses, train trips, hiking, watching the ships, biking...the list goes on. Didn't get everything on our list done as we did want to enjoy the Little Red Cabin on Caribou Lake and we certainly did. Jill has thought of so many details for the cabin....binoculars and even weather radio. Only have 1 bad thing to say....the week ended and vacation was over. Hope to be back. Thanks for opening your cabin for us to enjoy a week at the lake!

Owner's Response: Oh hello Margaret...it was so fun to meet you and your husband. I give you the prize for being the most excited about your day's pending adventures; every time we spoke you were just bursting with joy. Your enthusiasm absolutely brightened my days and I was honestly sad to see you journey back home.....and I couldn't even tell you had been there-wow, I have some fantastic stewards as guests of honor. Thank you. I look forward to your next visit-we will exchange more notes so we can fill up your itinerary again! Enjoy the rest of summer-and again....the Laura Ingalls Wilder magnet on my fridge is ABSOLUTELY THE BEST. How thoughtful!! Being probably the biggest fan ever-I was so touched. Even my mom was in awe when she heard it. As Laura said...."It is the sweet, simple things of life which are the real ones after all." Thank you again.
