Don't forget to load your bikes and explore the Munger Trail or the North Shore areas. I am a Registered Nurse with a passion for Quality Management. I embrace the principles of the Malcolm Baldrige Criteria for Performance Excellence after seeing first hand the value brought to an organization after assessing the critical aspects of work against the criteria. I have enjoyed learning how to continually try to exceed the expectations of all guests of honor as my quality journey continues and I keep my mission alive; making the Red Cabin your Duluth Destination Delight!
The first moment I set sight on the Red Cabin, I knew it was one of the most perfect places in the world. I immediately took to the special details so well thought out inside the cabin while promptly falling in love with the surrounding woods, rocks, the lake and peninsula.
It is amazing how each season is unique and to be celebrated. While swinging near the shore with a refreshment in the summer, it is mezmerizing to imagine ice and snow across the expanse of the bay settling in, in but a few short months; and the reverse as you sit in the same swing bundled up in your winter gear imagining summer, the lake being a body of open water; always moving, never the same. When the ice comes and goes it is a treasure of sights and mysterious sounds that can't be properly described in word. Some early winters, the lake freezes hard before the snow and allows for ice skating; everywhere! A rare experience only few will ever know.
The Red Cabin location is superb. To be so close to the edge of town (and what an exciting, unique and cool town Duluth/Hermantown is!) while yet being out in the woods; it is hard to find anything like it left in this world.
The Red Cabin is just an experience in itself. I am honored to share it with people that are good stewards of God's world and will uphold and respect my Red Cabin and her grounds. It is expecially delightful for me to hear the shrieks of joy from young children out in the yard, feeding a fish or making a snowman.
I look forward to visiting with you as you plan your vacation; I believe you will find unparalleled excellence at The Red Cabin.
We originally stayed in the Red Cabin for two months in 2015 after a major life change (sold our home and husband’s heart attack). We found the cabin exactly as described welcoming, clean, warm and totally enchanting. Everything you need is provided and if there is something not there, that you need, just ask, it will magically appear. We enjoyed our stay so much that we came back for the summer of 2016. Jill and Robert are wonderful landlords. Jill spoiled us with homemade delights. (Her caramel/nut covered grapes are wonderful). She even brought over warm monkey bread at 7:00 in the morning when she knew our grand-kids were spending the night. We spent the summer kayaking and canoeing using the boats provided. We floated on the lake on noodles watching the eagles soar over head. We listened to the loons and felt almost one with nature. The fishing is also great on Caribou Lake. You can catch them right off the pier. While at the red cabin we were totally relaxed, but it is also close to wonderful events like the tall ships festival and Canel Park, or near awesome restaurants like La’s and The Duluth Grill. We were also fortunate that it was only 20 minutes from our daughter and her family so we were also able to spend quality time with them. Our grandchildren, ages 7 and 5 wanted us to stay in the red cabin forever!! Thank you Jill and Robert for one of the besBEST summers we have ever had.
One of the best stays we've ever had anywhere. The cabin is a beautiful spot, immaculately kept, peaceful and quiet even with neighbors nearby. And Jill is a fantastic host, full of helpful info and just a really nice lady. She'll even make you cookies and monkey bread.
The only problem with this place is that it's already booked for next year. :(
This place is instantly relaxing...the view from the deck across the lake is like something out of a commercial. For a mellow northwoods getaway, I cannot imagine anything better. I took my parents up to visit some relatives around Duluth for a long weekend. My mother, who herself ran a successful Bed and Breakfast for over 15 years, kept describing the Little Red Cabin as "perfect," and on almost as many occasions said, "Boy, she thought of EVERYTHING!" You could not ask for a more considerate, positive, or helpful hostess than Jill. Do yourself a favor and stay here and chill out for a while.
We wanted a quick escape to celebrate our recent engagement...Jill greeted us with cookies in the oven and wine in the fridge...we wanted to see the fall colors and it didn't disappoint...the location is perfect, the cabin is beyond fantastic and we wish we could have stayed longer!! We made the quick drive into Duluth for dinner and then came back to sit on blankets by the fire pit and stare at the stars which were the most incredible we've ever seen!! Jill asked us when we arrived what time we'd like our homemade monkey bread delivered the next morning and at 7:30am on the nose she arrived with a plate of steaming hot delicious monkey bread!! We then ventured out in the canoe and were delighted to see and hear loons, American eagles and a bald eagle that we caught on video actually taking flight!! We will absolutely be back...and much sooner rather than later...we've already told our friends about this little magic hideaway...we aim to go back this winter to see it as a winter wonderland...we can't thank you enough Jill!!
We saw the little red cabin on the website. It was adorable and we couldn't wait to get inside. Once we arrived we realize this place is just magical. Beautiful Decour, beautiful property, and even more magnificent sunset. My parents stay there for two months. They couldn't have had a better time if they tried. Being only 15 minutes from Duluth, and everything that you could possibly need at your fingertips. It was a place to call home For the two months they were there. The owners are absolutely wonderful! I have nothing but the highest regard for this listing, the owners and our experience.
Let me start by saying i have never had a host like Jill! She is absolutely AMAZING!!! She drove accross the state to get the house ready early fornus, so we could check in a day earlier then expected. We were greeted with a plate full of hot chocolate chip cookies, which were bomb!!! Fyi...im a Chef, and very picky, Jill has bomb cookies! She also baked us fresh cinamon rolls, rice crispy treats and peanutbutter bars!!! She was always right there if we needed anything, such an amazing host!!! Now for the cabin, super cool, amazing and cozy little cabin, beautiful inside and out! Has everything you need to cook all week, fish on the lake, or just hang out and enjoy the view of the lake. I wish i could give this review 20 stars because thats how i felt about our experience! Thank you so much Jill, you and the cabin wrte amazing and we cant wait to see you next summer!!!
