This cozy Adirondack Cabin has everything that you need to enjoy your summer or winter vacation. The large deck overlooks the 135 feet of waterfront, with its own dock, which is perfect for boating and swimming in the summer. The fire pit is the place to gather round and enjoy the pleasant summer evenings, or the screened porch is ideal for reading a book and enjoying the sounds of the natural surroundings. The cabin is ideally located for all of winter attractions that the Adirondacks have to offer, just off South Shore Road which leads to all Old Forge snowmobile trails. There's plenty of area to snow shoe or cross country ski and it's just three miles from the McCauly Mountain ski area. When the day is done relax and enjoy the flat screen TV.
We are a family where the adult siblings try to get together annually during the summer months for a week. Since we have a brother who lives in Old Forge, we have often vacationed here and this is our third time renting a cottage in this area in the last 7 years. We know what to look for, we know what we need, we know what we want and what we expect in a rental and this house delivered completely.
Understanding up front this was only 800 square feet, we had four adult sleeping here plus other family coming over to spend the days and evenings with us, we knew we would be spending most of our time outside and that it would most likely be a tight fit, but it was lakefront with a nice setting......we're pleased to say that this rental ended up exceeding our expectations! The gathering areas, including the porch, the dock, the dining area and the living room are very roomy and gorgeously decorated. There is even an enclosed porch with extra seating.
With kayaks and a canoe available for use, quiet setting on the channel, minutes from Old Forge, a gas grill, laundry and the roomy gathering areas - this had absolutely everything we needed for four adults (plus multiple visitors) to enjoy our annual vacation. We would definitely recommend!!! Even though it is only two small bedrooms, we had enough room for 7 around the dinner table for eating and games and more than enough space for that many on the outdoor porch with great views.
The owner replied to emails quickly and was very helpful - notes and instructions were left for us to make things easier.
We all would recommend this highly and we all enjoyed our time here!
I would definitely. Rent again and recommend to other people. Thank you to the Franks.
A very nice Adirondack themed cabin with plenty of living space and adequate bedroom space. The decor inside was beautiful, warm and welcoming. The property was very nice for relaxing and remarkably quiet considering it's proximity to other cabins and houses. The boaters on the inlet that the cabin is on were very respectful of the 5mph 'no-wake' zone and almost all smiled and waved. There was nice fishing available right off the included dock and plenty more if you venture out into the chain of lakes. The property was nice and clean and the owners were very friendly when I called with questions ahead of our stay. This place is wonderful for anyone who wants to stay in a peaceful and quiet Adirondack cabin while still being just a few minutes from Old Forge proper and all it's attractions. We love this place and would recommend this property to anyone wanting to get away and enjoy the wide range of things to do, see and visit in the Old Forge area while still having most of the amenities of home.
The property is conveniently located to Old Forge (quite touristy) and in a nice setting. Its small, even for 4 (2 children included) but well kept. There was a lack of airflow/cooling, which made the nights of our stay almost unbearable, even with windows open, the airflow was not very good and we had to use small provided fan to cool the "master" enough to sleep. The "king" bed was a king frame with 2 separate twin mattresses on it, and separate twin sheets for each (that we had to make ourselves) and very uncomfortable. The listing says "no pets" but the owners must have a pet because we found pet hair all over the "master bedroom" and it triggered my asthma. The furnishings in the house were nice and we spent a couple nights playing family games on the long dining table, after we enjoyed the fire pit outside. The kitchen was small, as was the stove/oven. We found a dirty frying pan in the oven and a mug of water in the microwave, and the refrigerator was about 1/3 full of condiments/beer/other fixins left over from the owner or other renters. Be careful not to bring too much at one time of refrigerated products because there may not be enough room. We suggest the owner go through some of the condiments in the fridge because many appear to have some age on them. Just small little things, here and there, that detracted from the home just a bit, but all in all we had a good time and would recommend the home to a couple.
My family enjoyed this cabin very much. Superb location and all the comforts of home.
The cabin's location is great. If you rent at any cabin in the ADK, you have to take your garbage to a site that is only 5 minutes away from this cabin. During a stay in Inlet, we still had to drive to that trash sight. So, this cabin's location was much easier. It was also close to the restaurants. We also loved the decorations and antiques. It was spotless!
