Vacation in the middle of the rainforest with spectacular ocean views from this exquisite two-story tropical vacation home, called “Monos Locos”. It features spacious terraces and balconies, an infinity pool with a huge sun deck, outdoor living spaces, balcony, a full kitchen, satellite TV, and 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The master bedroom on the 2nd floor comes with a king bed, private ensuite bathroom, air-conditioning, and a partial ocean view. The other two bedrooms are downstairs and share a large bathroom. One bedroom has a queen bed and air-conditioning; the other has 2 bunk beds, one with a lower double bed, and air-conditioning.
Please note that a 4x4 vehicle is required to access the house due to the mountain terrain.
I have been in Real Estate most my life and and finished the home in 2011, I actually bought the land after 6 years of traveling through Costa Rica to find the right spot when my friends and my family were taking to the community and looked at several lots, after buying the land 4 years earlier.
We all pulled up to lot 25 and the looks on our face and being able to hear the waterfall and the views. We knew it was it....the rest well you see it, we had the home built to reflect what Cost Rica truly meant Pura Vida ! (pure Life)

There is no place like this read reviews!
I looked for 6 years before finding this place after traveling to 39 countries and finding this truly one of the most exciting times of my life! Portasol which is the name of the community where the house is located has a great costumer service, first quality concierge service and security 24/7. They can help you to organize your trip, tour reservations, rental cars or transfer from the airport.
Its location, location, location, this property is locate in the Southern part of the central Pacific, and it is close to all the most beautiful spots in Costa Rica, after visiting 39 countries, I fell in love with the weather and especially the People. I traveled for 15 times to Costa Rica looking for the perfect home to retire in. This place is all about being in the heart of Adventure tourism and Eco tourism.
You have Ballena Marine National park 25 minutes south to go whale watching, you have Manuel Antonio National park loaded with Monkeys and various animal Species. The beach closet to the home, is Playa Motnapalo unbelievable surfing with no crowds, It is like having a private beach.
Sport fishing heaven, the town of Quepos is one of the best places on the Pacific Coast, you barely leave the marina and you ready to wet a hook for the big bill fish etc.
The property manager, Alex, met us at the airport and took us to the home, carried our luggage in and made sure we were comfortable. The house is beautiful, with a spacious deck and dipping pool, surrounded by the natural beauty (sights and sounds) of the jungle. We felt very safe because of the 24-hour security guard at the gate. The "wildlife", however, gave us a few starts! Once we got used to the Jurassic Park sized insects and bullfrogs, we settled in and were very happy. We were close to Dominical beach and not too far from Manuel antonio Park to visit daily. We loved the zipline experience the best. This is a great place to stay if you want to be secluded from the entire world, and yet close enough to go visit places. I would recommend it for those who love nature, or just want to be away from it all!
We had a wonderful week, with amazing views. Comfortable rooms, and well equipped.
It was almost a year ago I decided to celebrate my birthday with a group of friends at Monos Locos in Portasol, best decision I could have ever make.
We went for the whole week and had a great time. The house has everything so we even had a BBQ night, watched the sunset, side of the pool, then a starry night with the jungle concert... Words can't describe.
And the service was the cherry at the top of the celebration!
Seriously thinking of going again (for the third time actually) this year at least for a weekend cause it is less than 30 minutes from Quepos airport anyway!
Strongly recommended for going with a group of friends or vacation with the whole family!
What a beautiful place in the jungle! My family of 5, (2 adults, 2 large teenage boys and 1 teenage girl) had a wonderful time with plenty of room for more. The next trip we'll bring at least 3 more friends. The house is amazing and has every amenity. Anyone looking to relax, could just stay in the pool or on the huge deck overlooking the lush green vegetation. Then there is the staff. Guillermo, Alex and most of all David, plus the cooks (If only they would come to our house to help out :). Everybody was attentive, very helpful, flexible and worked hard to make the trip perfect. The zip lines, horseback tour, scuba diving were all professionally operated and focused on safety. I travel weekly and this was the best location in the last 2 years by far. Highly recommend everyone visit and experience "Pura Vida" in person with the Tico people. Oh, and the waterfall 5 minutes away. Make the jump - we all did!
Amazing place to stay. This location was the highlight of our trip. We stayed here for eight nights with two families. Four adults and four kids (ages 8-13) fit comfortably. Guillermo and Alex, the care takers were very helpful and arranged a last minute rental car during the high peak season. They also arranged our trips such as rafting, canopy tours etc..The house felt very "Costa Rican" in comparison to the other places we stayed. The living room and dining room are outdoors and the bugs were never a problem even at night with the outdoor lights on. We did not even use bug spray. There is an amazing waterfall on the property as well that we went swimming in. Make sure you bring groceries on your way to the house! Loved the gated area so much that we considered buying. You will need four wheel drive to access the property, but that is almost a requirement if you are doing any adventuring in to the wilderness in Costa Rica.
Wow, where to start? How do you review paradise? Heaven on earth? I think the people of Costa Rica "Tico's" say it best in the phase you will hear over and over "Pura Vida" This was my sixth trip to Costa Rica having fallen in love with the country some 10 years ago. Although I have always understood the meaning of "Pura Vida" to be pure life, it took this trip and a week at Casa de Mono Locos for me to experience it. Whether it was walking out my bedroom to jump in the pool every morning before anyone else was awake, doing a few leisure laps or floating on back in silence or seeing the beautiful flowers and birds everywhere. Maybe it was sitting on a large piece of driftwood on the beach every night watching the sunset over the Pacific without another person besides us in site. I got it !! The nature in this region of Costa Rica is remarkable. I highly recommend a hike in Manual Antonio Park. Hiring a guide is the way to go, as you may miss allot. I have never since so many monkeys, iguanas and sloths in all my life. The wildlife around will not disappoint. We also went white water rafting close to Portasol and it was mind blowing. I know you should keep reviews short but I haven't even mentioned the water fall, the beauty of the house or the staff at Portasol. All of which are great. The house is beautiful. I loved the hand carved rails, custom kitchen and large deck overlooking the rainforest. I wanted to get away and recharge my mind, body and soul and I did. Some of my friends stayed plugged in with internet access available, but I choose to turn everything off. No TV ad's !!! Trust me when I tell you the deadlines, emails, voice messages and to do lists will be there when you get back. You owe it to yourself to experience "Pura Vida" for yourself. I have already booked my next trip. See you next year, my Tico friends and as always "Pura Vida"
Between two fantastic places Manuel Antionio National park, voted by Forbes as one of the most beautiful in the world, and Dominical some of the best surfing and white water rafting near by, and The best and longest Zip line in Central America know as MidWorld, so much to do here, Kayaking in the Mangroves to horse back riding on the beach and Mountains, white water rafting, sailing, ATV tours you name it, and it minutes away!
