Florida Panhandle House Rental Photos and Description

4 Bedroom, 4 Bath, 4000sqft 50 ft from Bay with Beach access & Boat/fishing Dock

This year scalloping may be put on hold. That's the word circulating. Check with the Florida Fish and Game Website to get the scoop. Hal, the Charter Captain on site has been limiting out on trout so far this spring. If scallop season gets cancelled there is still fish in the bay to be had. Given a choice between sea trout and grouper, trout comes out top on my list. ( Before I get carried away if you want to book with me send me an email first as I don't keep the calendar online. ) Last year Ryan and his group win the crown of Scalloping King. He and his group gathered 170 gallons of scallops and were even selective throwing out scallops of insufficient size to harvest later. He donated a quart bag to the author and they taste like fried butter. Enough said. They are goooood!!!!! Another group came equipped with several small tools made from 3/4" electrical conduit. They proceeded to harvest any stingrays in site. This is where the tool comes in. It was used to punch out the meat from the back of the stingray. They fried the round stingray meat up with the skin on and after cooking this skin fell away from the meat. If I was eating stingray mixed in with some store bought scallops I would not have known the difference. This was plain good eating and much easier than collecting scallops. So if you like spears, gigs, harpoons and fishing arrows stingrays are a fun target to go for and they aren't regulated. These critters compete for the scallops anyhow. The next best kept secret to stingray is shark. Besides the stingray it is the cleanest fish to catch and clean. Personally I go out with a hack saw. When not If I get one, I hold it by the tail belly up off the side of the boat and cut the body in half just behind the anus. This tail section is all meat with center cartilage. I continue cutting one - 1.5 inch steaks off the tail section and these go on ice. No messing with fillet knives, blood or guts. No need to remove the skin it falls off once cooked. Put these on the grill brushed with olive oil along with lemon and your favorite seasoning and in no time you will have a real delicacy. Even people who don't like fish would like this. Eats like a real tender pork chop. If you are taking Chondroitin for Arthritis, the shark cartilage in the shark steak is the very same thing ground up inside the Chondroitin pill that costs me $25 a bottle.

Last year 2 redfish and 10 trout were caught from the dock during a week in April and 2 sightings of eagles swooping down to pick up trout have been witnessed by guests sitting on the back porch outside of the summer season. One report of a 6' tarpon swimming under dock occurred in May. (Note: I do not keep up with the calender so inquire about a period you are interested in.)

The home is 50 feet from the edge of the bay with a beach access park directly across the street 500 yards from the home. Inside are new furnishing including tournament quality billiard table, internet streaming for viewing netflix and other internet services on upstairs and downstairs TVs, patio furniture seating for 8 persons on the screened porch, new living area sofa, wicker recliner, and an elevated game table with four raised chairs ideal for cards and board games. Play pool, ping pong, bumper pool, basketball, bike ride, fish from the dock, play cards, board games, enjoy surround sound stereo using your Iphone connected to stereo, connect to wireless internet. The home has central heat and air and plenty of room to spread out. Most people comment on how cool the home is when they first enter. 500 yards from the home is the sugar white sands of Cape San Blas Beach. Enjoy the sunrise over the bay and watch the sunset on the beach. The stars are exceptionally bright when viewed from the back deck of the home. My favorite nightscape is the full moon rising over the bay. Linens and towels are provided as an option so send an email to book the home and arrange for the linen and towel option.

The bay is viewable from each bed in the house. A 500 ft dock is a few steps from the home. A managed pristine environment of live oaks, palms, sea oats and sago palms surround the home.

2 upstairs bedrooms have king size beds. and 2 bedrooms downstairs one with 2 double beds, a single and optional trundle. The other has the walk in shower, king bed, single bed and optional trundle for extra guests. Each bedroom has a private bathroom with shower. To see more video of the home and the surrounding area visit bobzio com.

The main floor living area has TV and DVD player. Attached to the main floor living room is a large kitchen with stove, oven, counter top oven, full size frig with ice maker, microwave, dishwasher, blender, toaster, coffee maker, pots, pans, cups silverware and cooking utensils. Off of the kitchen is a screened porch with patio table and 8 chairs. The washer and dryer are hidden away on the screened porch. Each room has cable TV and WiFi access. Bring your IPod and plug into the stereo. A large handicap accessible shower is located on the main floor. The home is unique in that there are no steps from your car into the home. The Grandparents can stay on the ground floor and not have to navigate any steps.

There is parking for 3 vehicles. Boat trailers can be parked close to the property entrance on a private paved road set aside for trailer parking.

The home is a monolithic concrete dome. The concrete adds extra protection and energy efficiency. Amenities include wifi, tv, dvd player, stereo, central heat and air conditioning. Upstairs has the entertainment area with CD stereo, Cable TV and billiard table. On the back porch overlooking the bay is a ping pong table, weight lifting bench with weights, bumper pool table and patio table with seating for 4. A propane fireplace is located on the main floor great for long winter nights.

Bring a boat or kayak for scalloping, fishing and recreation. If no boat plenty of fish can still be caught from the dock. Try throwing a cast netting for mullet from the dock. A favorite activity is spear or bow fishing for mullet as they swim under the dock. Floundering at night is an activity for those seeking some adventure. Depending on time of year an eagle or bobcat may be spotted close to the home. Want to learn to fish the bay? Captain Hal Tarpley will pick you up from the bayrock 1 dock and take you out for a day fishing or scalloping.

The Bayrock experience is serene, peaceful and private. Here birds are singing, bikes can be ridden on the 12 mile bike path, snorkeling in the bay for scallops, windsurf in the bay and shelling on the beaches.

Golf and tennis are a short 12 minute drive away at St Joe Country Club . Horseback riding on the beach starts at the beginning of the cape Road. Freshwater fishing is a 30 minute drive at Lake Wimico via depot creek or white city.

The cape bike path runs into the St Joseph State Park from the beginning of the cape road about 12 miles.

Inquire about para-sailing, waverunner and pontoon boat rental. Kayaks and bikes can be rented just a short distance away. The owner will deliver to the home for your convenience.

About Michael Bobzien

My dream was to build a futuristic indestructible earth friendly home. The dream was acted on in 1995 and completed in 1998. The home uses half the energy of a conventional home of similar size. The interior space is open and inviting. The surrounding area has been managed in a manner keeping the natural and pristine qualities in tact.

Michael Bobzien purchased this house in 1996

Why Michael Bobzien chose Florida Panhandle

The location of this home is the most ideal among all Cape San Blas Properties. The bay access is the deepest for boating from the dock. The beach access park is directly across the street with a large state property park that goes some 2000 feet making the beach very secluded. The water is clear and pristine with plenty of wildlife. If you want to be surrounded by natural beauty and solitude then this is the best choice and still be able to visit all the modern restaurants, stores and beaches.

What makes this house unique

Most unique benefit of vacationing at Bayrock is the serenity, abundance of birdlife and opportunity to spot an eagle, see a bobcat walk by, fish from the dock, see porpoises at the beach, catch tarpin in the bay or do nothing at all. The Cape is a sanctuary for wildlife. Oh yes the Cape Palms Park beach access park is directly across the street.

Amazing bay front location

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I absolutely loved this unusual property. Beautifully situated on St. Joseph bay this place offers amazing value, privacy, and tranquility. When we arrived our place was clean and welcoming, quite a gift for a place this grand. Our host was very gracious and took care of our every need. He had a great knowledge of the area and gave great advice. Though our winter weather was less than stellar, the tranquility of our location made up for that. This place is custom made for a good size group. For couples plus some kids could easily be accommodated here. The dock just outside the back door is so awesome and goes about 400 feet out into the bay. We also liked the very short walk up the driveway to the ocean side, with a public park just across the road . This cool free-form house is just a couple of miles from the state park up the road. That whole area being beautiful and low-key was just what the doctor ordered. We were really quite impressed and plan to go back for a stay during the summer or fall next year.

This has Tranquility and Privacy

  • 5 of 5

If you want to get away from the traffic Cape San BLas is the place to be in September. The beaches are sparsely populated with people and the Bays are serene. We liked rising early in the morning and having coffee on the porches and deck. The sunrise is terrific.

In the evenings we walked over to the beach and sat on the covered boardwalk and watched the sun set. There is a paved bike path running in front of the home. We pedaled this to the park and to a couple of stores down the road. Several days we saw bald eagles fly overhead. Mick pointed out to us what their call sounded like and we would try to find where they were perched whenever we heard them. At night we walked on along the beach searching for turtles but did not have a full moon while we visited which is what I later read was needed.

We like the roominess of the home. It was hard to adjust when we got home to a house with hallways since Bayrock was so open and spacious. Our vacation was what we were hoping for. Comfortable, relaxing and pleasant. Thanks Mick for sharing your local intel in the eateries. We plan on returning next year in May. This sounds like the best time to visit the Cape to avoid the tourist season.

We love Bayrock.

  • 5 of 5

My family and friends have stayed at Bayrock about 10 times. I've been there with as few as 2 people and as many as 15. The house seems to adjust to however many people walk through the door. It is comfortable, clean and spacious. The bedrooms are private and the common spaces are made for gatherings. Our group plays music and the living room is a perfect place to set up instruments and has plenty of room for the dancers! The owner is welcoming and always helpful. The home is well-stocked with everything you need in the kitchen. It is a unique home in a beautiful setting. The deck offers the most amazing sunrises and views of the night sky.

One of the best things about the house is the access to the bay. It is so nice to put the boat in the water when we get there on Saturday and take it out the next Saturday. Our fishermen and scallopers both love that. The beach is a short walk across the street. We try not to miss a sunset.

Like other reviewers have said...Bayrock is not for everyone. But, we love the house, the setting, the uniqueness of it.

Wonderful Vacation at Bayrock

  • 5 of 5

We had the pleasure of staying at Mick’s Bayrock during the month of June in 2015. Perfectly situated on St. Joseph’s Bay, it was roomy enough for 4 couples with space to spare. We especially enjoyed the upper level, with it’s massive living area overlooking the bay, wonderful for just hanging out, listening to music, watching Netflix, or shooting billiards. The bedrooms are massive, with king sized beds and private bathrooms, and are situated at the far corners, adding to their privacy. The kitchen was adequate for several cooks preparing meals and we were happy we had an extra refrigerator on the screened in porch and an extra portable oven in the kitchen. The dining table on the screened porch easily accommodated all 8 of us.

The house is located right on the bay, with a private dock that extends out to the water. The sunrises were beautiful and could be viewed from the upstairs bedrooms. Strolling the dock, it was common to see a variety of marine life including hermit crabs, rays, blue crabs and many kinds of fish. Egrets frequent this area and we also saw (and heard) a great horned owl in the trees nearby and a bald eagle.

We love to spending time on the Cape with the beautiful scenery and sugar sand beaches. The public access beach is situated right across the street from Mick’s place, a very short walk for beach and sunset views. And I can’t think of a better place to ride a bicycle than Cape San Blas Road.

Mick was the perfect host, very helpful and friendly. We would recommend his place to anyone wanting a bayside retreat, plenty big for large family groups. The building is definitely unique and eco friendly and a great place to spend your time on the cape, especially if you have a large group. Thanks, Mick!

Our stay at Bayrock was FUN!!! And RELAXING!!! exactly what a vacation is meant to be. We came home rejuvenated. Mick the owner told us stories about some of the requests he has gotten over the years. Now we understand what the requesters were feeling. He described how 3 persons diagnosed with terminal diseases with only months to live had contacted him with one last request. Before they died they wanted one more week with their families together at Bayrock and Cape San Blas. Ever since we left all we talk about is the fun we had while staying in Bayrock. Our group consisted of young kids, teenagers, their parents and us oldies but goodies and we all found something fun to do in Bayrock, on the porches, on the dock, along the shoreline in the back, out in the bay or across the street at the beach. If I had one last vacation to take I would try and recapture the magic we had at Bayrock too. Now to be honest Bayrock is not for everyone. Those persons who want perfection will not appreciate what Bayrock has to offer. I compare Bayrock to a Vincent Van Gogh piece of work. It's not angular or straight but it is symmetrical, balanced and alive. One member of our group is an architect and she was in awe of the structure and amount of detailed craftsmanship. So persons who don't like nature , serenity ,privacy , crowd less beaches , birding and native landscaping will not appreciate Bayrock 1. I would advise persons to find a high rise condo with all the amenities along with the faceless crowds who share these places.

Bayrock does appeal to groups who like to gather on the porch, share stories, music and throw some shrimp on the barbi. The home was clean, very comfortable inside, is spacious, with ample area to accommodate large groups. For recreation the home has billiards, ping pong, board games,Netflix, internet and beach supplies. There was ample parking outside basketball court , kayak and gigs for harpooning dinner. The house was well maintained and everything worked. All in all our vacation was what we hoped it would be and will definely be returning in the future.

Bayrock a really neat place to stay

  • 5 of 5

If you are looking for a place that has great boating access, a wonderful beach within walking distance, a quiet and peaceful location along with a very cool home you have landed on the perfect home. There were several of us searching and each of us had our priorities. We always kept coming back to Bayrock as the one place which satisfied all our needs.

Several of us wanted to enjoy the beach. Others wanted a roomy place with separate bedrooms and bathrooms, others wanted to chill and we all wanted to be on the Cape. We had always seen Bayrock from the water and thought how unique it looked, now we know.

Bayrock is much bigger than it appears from the outside. Inside has 4000 square feet of space not counting the porches. Upstairs is a full size billiard table and entertainment zone. Three of the bedrooms are master type bedrooms with full bathrooms. The fourth bedroom can sleep 6 people comfortably.

Outside had everything we wanted. Room to park, a hose to rinse off with, a kayak for use, and some beach items for our use including boogie boards and sand toys.

Inside Bayrock was clean and the kitchen well stocked. The other nice thing about Bayrock was the frig on the porch. The guys spent a lot of time on the porch and put the outside frig to use. Some of the kids played inside enjoying the upstairs entertainment area.

The kitchen was spacious with seating for 8 persons around the built in bar. Overall we enjoyed a fantastic time together and made good memories. We can recommend Bayrock to anyone wishing to enjoy a relaxing family getaway.

We plan to return in the future. Thanks for everything Mick.

Owner's Response: Thanks Julie I am glad you enjoyed yourself while staying at Bayrock. I am sorry you didn't get to see any Eagles or Ospreys. They did show up around the beginning of September. They tend to disappear along with the pelicans and sea gulls during the tourist season and magically reappear after August. I will try to capture a video of one swooping down pulling fish out of the water. I can't promise anything but I will try. Again I am glad everyone had a good time and you got home safely. I hope to see you soon. Best Regards, Mick

Best location on Cape San Blas to take advantage of the Bay and the Beach. Vacationers using Bayrock can walk to the beach 500 meters, fish on the private dock, snorkel in the bay, have a boat tied to the dock, ride a bike to the stores and restaurants or enjoy the wonderful bay view from the porches. The location is private, serene and beautiful. There is not another property with the same logistical advantages.
