I am a healer and use this place as my retreat for myself and workshops when guests are not there.
The magnificent sunsets over the bay yet close to the beach and room for my horses below to take them swimming in the ocean. Great for fishing and nothing is too far away on the island
Bird watchers Paridise due to the marshes before the Bay
We had a great time. Cabin had a beautiful view of sunset and sunrise. Very peaceful. Needs updating and would be just as beautiful as the view. Also was very accommodating. Would stay there again.
We had a great vacation and my boys loved the freedom of being in Grand Isle. The rental was what we expected; it is a camp in Grand Isle. The parking was a little difficult, we were in a pick-up, but we just parked on the street since the camp was the last on the block. I cannot imagine if there was a multiple car situation, would be very tight. Do not go to this location, if you are expecting a luxury vacation, not everything worked properly and there seemed to be some type of pipe leak or water damage in the bathroom. Not too much bothers us, so it was not a problem to deal with these things. My only complaint is the lack of communication from the owner. I was expecting to have more direction for check out, and tried to communicate with her, but she never responded. I went along with things I typically am asked to do in other rental situations (make sure trash is out, Dishes in washer or cleaned and put away, I pulled all of the used sheets from the beds; etc…). I am the type of person that I want to know what is expected of me before I leave a rental. Overall a great trip.
Camp was exactly what we wanted...beautiful view of the bay, and close to the beach. Camp is on the end of the street, so was very quiet. A quick walk up the street and across Highway 1 brought us to the beach...public access points were clearly marked with two palm trees and small parking areas if someone didn't want to walk.
Loved having a washer/dryer at camp and the bed was very comfortable.
This rustic camp was perfect for anyone wanting to get away for a bit, but if you're looking for a 5 star resort this isn't the place for you...it's rustic, simply laid out, and felt like home the minute we arrived. Doesn't have all the bells and whistles some camps provide, but for us, it was perfect.
We decided to visit Gran Isle at the last-minute. Michelle was very accommodating.
It was the off season, so not much going on, but we were there to meet our new Grandbaby so didn't mind at all.
Coffeemaker didn't work and had a hard time finding the toilet paper, which was stored in the kitchen. Washer didn't work quite right either.
Went for an anniversary weekend and couldn't have asked for a more perfect place to be. Lovely camp with electric fireplace in bedroom. Perfect location on the island. Close to everything. Beautiful unobstructed view of the bay. Able to watch some dolphins play while we were sitting on the back porch. Quiet and peaceful--only sounds were wind, waves and birds. Will definitely be back there. No other camp will do!
From the porch it had a great view, but other than that our stay was moderate at best. The floors are uneven. The pictures you see are the absolute high points of the house, the rest of the house was a disappointment. If you are taller than 6 foot be cautious around the ceiling fan. It hangs down at a whooping 5'11½. The kitchen did not have any knives other than one broken turkey carving knife. We had to buy forks due to only having 2 in the kitchen. So we baught a cheap set of knives from Walmart that we left at the beach house. I believe the only thing in the kitchen that was modern was the microwave, everythinh else was old. We could not see the setting on the stove due to them fading. We had to purchase a non stick pan because the enamel was burnt off of the pans at the beach house. We had to buy a two pack of aluminum trays. One to put on the charcoal grill to hold the charcoal due to the bottom being rotted out and the other I had to bend into a v shape to place over the burner of the gas grill. We had a slight Roach problem. Also the most misleading picture of all with the caption of 4 miles of water access. Inorder to get to the water you ha e to walk through ankel to knee deep swamp water and trample of bushes to get to the water. This would be ideal for an elder couple just wanting to get away, or a couple of people who will rarely be in the beach house due to fishing. I drive a Nissan titan and I could barely making down the drive way between the fence post, so if you have a big truck and a boat find somewhere else to park them, because it ain't going to happen.
