About Adam

Adam and Kathrin both attended and obtained degrees from Texas A&M University. We have lived and worked in the area for more than ten years. Adam owns a solar business and teaches at the university, and Kathrin is a veterinarian and doing research at Texas A&M.

Adam purchased this cottage in 2001

Why Adam chose Bryan - College Station

This property offers the best of both worlds: It is a peaceful, country-like setting on 2.5 acres, away from busy town life, town lights, and town noise -- yet it is only seven minutes away (by car) to the university or downtown Bryan!

What makes this cottage unique

The New England style construction is cozy and somewhat unique in this area. The wooded setting and large area of natural landscape offers more privacy than typical neighborhoods. The neighbors are friendly, helpful, and many are often out walking on the main road.

Great get away

  • 4 of 5

Overall great experience, newer property with all the essentials! Away from it all, quick 10min drive to downtown! We stayed with another couple, sofa had pull out queen, not too bad, plenty of pillows/blankets. Downside would be no AC in bedroom. Also would recommend keyless entry, more convenient. Overall clean, new, and just what we needed!

Very cozy and relaxing!

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay! My friend got married in Bryan tx, so my girlfriend and I decided to stay here. It was perfect! It was a really short drive to downtown Bryan Tx. It was nice having breakfast on the balcony looking over to the wooded backyard. Everything was really nice, after a long night at the weeding we slept like babies in that comfortable bed! Very cozy house! If we decide to come back to college station or Bryan tx, this is our place to stay! Thank you for having us!!

Me and my daughter spend one week in College Station and we loved the place we stayed. Very clean, cozy and convenient location. I would definitely stay here again if I visit College station in the future.

Oasis in College Station

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property.

This property was situated over a garage and initially I had my doubts about climate control as my visit was in the summer. I could not have been more wrong. The environment was very well controlled and we remained cool and very comfortable.

Everything in this property was immaculate.

The kitchen was well appointed and certain staples were even provided for our stay. The owner spontaneously provided some self-roasted coffee during our stay that was superb.

The bedroom at this property was like heaven. The bedding was very comfortable and the room felt crisp and clean. There was plenty of extra bedding available for the pull out sofa sleeper.

We ate our breakfasts out on the deck which overlooked the wooded property. A grill was available if we desired to grill out.

There was a cozy area to watch a little television that suited us very well.

The owner has provided laundry equipment which was very useful to us as we were midway through a twelve day motorcycle ride.

The owner was very agreeable to us using the hose on the property to wash our bikes after our 1,000 mile ride from Wisconsin. Chatting with the owner was very pleasant.

I would certainly recommend this property for a couple or small family.

Near perfection

  • 5 of 5

The property is advertised and well maintained. The deck overlooking the woods provides a nice way to relax. The entire weekend was great except for one minor negative that I hate to mention but in the spirit of providing feedback will. I had to pay close attention when driving a mid size truck (RAM 1500) onto the property due to high shrubs extending over the drive way. I'm sure it was due to the heavy rains that we have had for the last month and will be rectified. However, someone driving a large truck would not have made it. Thanks again for a wonderful weekend.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. If the only complaint is a little vegetation overgrowth over the driveway, then I think the "minor negative" actually makes quite a positive statement about the guest house overall. The native trees and shrubs make the peaceful atmosphere here, and one small price we pay for that is the endless chore of keeping them out of the driveway. To clarify one point for anyone reading this who is unfamiliar with the property, large trucks - in fact U-Haul - sized box trucks - can physically fit through the driveway. The reviewer means that, prior to trimming, a larger truck might not have "made it" through without touching a bit of the shrubbery's most recent exploratory new-growth.

Situated on 2.5 acres in a quiet and friendly neighborhood, our guest house includes a large, upper-level deck that overlooks the peaceful oak forest. The wonderful country setting feels miles away from busy city life, which is why our guests find it hard to believe that downtown is only a seven-minute drive. You're just five miles from the Northgate area, five miles to some great, local restaurants, and only five miles to Kyle Field!

While you're here, be sure to visit the newly-restored, picaresque, historical downtown Bryan area as well. You'll find many local specialty shops and unique restaurants, including a popular German restaurant modeled after the owner's original restaurant in his home country. (The elaborate bar woodwork, which stretches from the first to the top of the second floor, was imported from Germany.)

If you enjoy golf, there are at least four courses to choose from around town. The closest (about three miles) is Traditions Gold Club, a Jack Nicklaus Design Championship course - considered one of the best courses in Texas.

Texas A&M Aggie football games are probably the biggest local attraction. Hotel rooms and other accommodations are usually booked to 100% occupancy many _months_ in advance. The Piper Place Guest House is perfect for home games because it offers a quiet getaway just minutes from town, and it INCLUDES FREE PARKING just two blocks from Kyle Field! We have reserved a great, convenient parking space for you in the historic neighborhood across the street (south) from Kyle field.

INTERNET: Free, fast Wi-Fi service is included.
