Apartment ideal for a family of 4/5.
I have an official short stay licence issued by the Amsterdam municipality.
The apartment is located in the back of a historic Canal House. It is the perfect place to relax after a busy day in town. The modern loft apartment measures 215 sqm and can accommodate up to 6 guests. It has three bedrooms, two bathrooms and a library/study corner (on the lower level), a large open living and dining space with high ceilings and huge windows overlooking the garden, open plan kitchen with diner on the upper level. With the apartment comes a private, secluded garden with day bed, table and chairs. There is an separate room downstairs with washer and dryer.
Due to the open plan space, the apartment is less suitable for small children.
As the apartment is below streetlevel, the downstairs bathrooms are equiped with pumps. These need to be handled with care and make some sound when used.

As the property is my private home, I always ask my guests for some background information, like where you are from, what do you do for a living, who are your travelling with.
I've loved Amsterdam ever since I moved there 30 years ago, and look forward to welcoming you and help you make the best of your stay. I have travelled a lot and know what makes a homestay worthwhile. As my children (24 and 22) have left home to study, I now have the opportunity to offer my apartment for rent. I work for an ICT Multinational and study Arts & Culture. I like contemporary art of which you will find a lot in the apartment. And I cannot live without books so you will be surrounded by plenty of those too.
Mrs F Brouwer purchased this apartment in 1989

Once you see the apartment you'll understand why I still love it since we bought it 26 years ago! It has the best of both worlds: whilst in the middle of Amsterdam the place is very tranquil. The loft style apartment offers plenty of space; ceilings reach 6 meters high. You'll find quiet, space and plenty of green in the garden. The popular nine streets area is around the corner. You can walk (or cycle) to all major attractions. And as you step out of the historic front door of the building, the beautiful Herengracht canal will bring a smile on your face.
The space, the height of the ceilings, the open living room with it's overcrossing 'bridge', the huge windows and the quiet garden! On top of that: location, location, location.
I spent a wonderful week in the apartment with my family in early spring. It was not quite tulip season, but daffodils had begun to flower in the back by the time we left. The photos don't do justice to the place, which is beautifully furnished, but comfortable enough to stay in with (older) kids. The natural light that pours in the huge back window enhances the artwork hung all around the apartment. We appreciated all the information provided about local attractions, shops and restaurants, as well as the excellent kitchen that allowed us to dine in when we needed a break from exploring. The place is very well situated, within walking distance of most tourist attractions, and on the edge of less touristy but equally interesting neighbourhoods. Among the things we enjoyed most were: Toos and Roos for breakfast/lunch, takeaway pizza from Pazzi, the Anne Frank huis, Verzetzmuseum, Vondelpark and Zandvoort aan Zee (beach town a 40-minute train ride away; probably too crowded in summer but lovely in March). My kids also really loved NEMO Science Museum, Het Scheepvaartmuseum and Henk (a comic book store). We wish we could have stayed longer!
We only have positive memories of our stay at FLorentine's apartment. The location is quiet, yet very convenient for walking to everywhere we went. The apartment itself is lovely, comfortable, and very spacious for Amsterdam. Highly recommended.
Well kept, clean , spacious flat. It was more spacious than we imagined. Good over view of neighbourhood from The Friendly Host. Beautiful garden.
I would stay in this flat again in a heartbeat. By the time we had been there for a week , we felt more like locals than tourists.
Close to great restaurants, shopping, canal right outside the front door & by far, the most beautiful entrance door to the building on the whole block.
It was wonderful to be able to return nightly & relax in a comfy, roomy "home"
Thank-you Florentine for allowing us to experience Amsterdam from your beautiful home :)
My Husband and I recently spent a week in Amsterdam with my Parents and our daughter to celebrate their 50th Wedding Anniversary.
Florentine Brouwer, the owner, was wonderful to work with. She was very accommodating and answered all our questions in a timely manner. On our arrival, she made us feel right at home and provided us everything we needed to start our stay in Amsterdam.
The Apartment was beautiful. There was ample space inside and in the wonderful back yard. We were centrally located and it was an easy walk to the tram and all the major sights. The Apartment was immaculate and comfortable. We had a wonderful vacation and most was due to our wonderful experience with our apartment and our host.
Stayed here for 8 days in June to enjoy Amstetdam, The location is fantastic and in what we learned was one of the best areas to stay. Plenty of great stores and restaurants.
From here we were able to walk to all the major Museums and also catch a tram to central station to catch trains out to other cities. Added bonus for us was the garden in the back where we were able to spend some of our evenings in. The weather helped with this as we were so fortunate to get 6 straight days of beautiful weather to enjoy it. We would pick up cheese and wine and enjoy the quote of the garden. Very comfortable place for our family of 5. Don't hesitate booking it!
Four of us recently spent a week at this home and were thrilled with the location and the amenities. Beautifully stocked kitchen and comfortable bedrooms and a lovely garden space. Walking distance to wonderful restaurants, coffee shop, sights and markets. Florentine was quick to fix an appliance and provided a gracious introduction to the apartment. I would go back to this location if ever in Amsterdam again. A beautiful, convenient and quiet spot!

Located in the historic center of Amsterdam, on the renown Herengracht Canal, part of the World Heritage Canal Ring. Walk to nearby museums with Rembrandt and Van Gogh, or to the Anne Frank House. Enjoy shopping in the Nine Streets area just around the corner of the apartment. Stroll along the canals and have coffee, lunch or dinner in one of the many restaurants of which you'll found plenty within walking distance.
