About Mrs F Brouwer

I've loved Amsterdam ever since I moved there 30 years ago, and look forward to welcoming you and help you make the best of your stay. I have travelled a lot and know what makes a homestay worthwhile. As my children (24 and 22) have left home to study, I now have the opportunity to offer my apartment for rent. I work for an ICT Multinational and study Arts & Culture. I like contemporary art of which you will find a lot in the apartment. And I cannot live without books so you will be surrounded by plenty of those too.

Mrs F Brouwer purchased this apartment in 1989

Why Mrs F Brouwer chose Amsterdam

Once you see the apartment you'll understand why I still love it since we moved in 30 years ago! It has the best of both worlds: whilst in the middle of Amsterdam the place is very tranquil. The loft style apartment offers plenty of space; ceilings reach 6 meters high. You'll find quiet, space and plenty of green in the garden. The popular nine streets area is around the corner. You can walk (or cycle) to all major attractions. And as you step out of the historic front door of the building, the beautiful Herengracht canal will bring a smile on your face.

What makes this apartment unique

The space, the height of the ceilings, the open living room with it's overcrossing 'bridge', the huge windows and the quiet garden! On top of that: location, location, location.

Simply Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely week in this incredible apartment! It is so centrally located that we hardly used the trams and walked easily to absolutely everything. It was well appointed and everything was there that we need to cook. When we needed to rest, having the lovely green garden and enormous picture window was a relief to the busy city and the "killer" bicylists! :). I wouldn't ever stay anywhere else. Florentine is the consummate host and we feel like we now have a great homebase whenever we return.

Best apartment, best location, best everything!

  • 5 of 5

We have experienced vacation rentals from Saint-Remy to San Miguel de Allende, from Maine to Morocco, and this apartment is definitely at the top of the list.

1) Location!!: right in the 9 Streets, within walking distance to Centrum, Jordaan, Anne Frank House, Westerkerk, the Palace, grocery stores, and hip boutiques. The tram to Rijksmuseum, Stedelijk, and Van Gogh Museum is just a few blocks away.

2) Apartment!!: Wonderful, comfortable, spacious, with touches of a five-star hotel. Great gourmet kitchen with everything you need. The garden--and the huge window overlooking the garden--is a huge plus. Very quiet, too. Perfect for our family of five.

3) Owner!!: Florentine was so helpful, from recommending taxi service to working with us to extend our stay. We're only sorry we didn"t get to meet her.

Can't recommend highly enough!

Wonderful Loft House in the Center of Amsterdam

  • 5 of 5

We were so lucky to stay in this 19th century canal house set on the Herrengracht at Centrum, in the area of 9 Straatjes - named after the nine side streets connecting the main canals, all of which are known for their trendy shops and restaurants. Not only did we have an enormous apartment (4 BR, 2 1/2 Baths) with eat-in kitchen, dining room, huge living room, library, and a private inner garden that was perfect for enjoying a morning coffee) but also LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION! We were a few blocks from the Palace and Dam Square, close to the restaurants and squares of Spuistraat, and in easy walking distance (even for me) from the Amsterdam Museum as well as several smaller museums, the Nieuw Kerk, Westerkerk and the Ann Frank house and, of course the infamous Red Light District

The apartment was beautifully furnished, scrupulously clean and comfortable - with lots of room for all of us and lots of extras. The owner, Florentine, was very helpful, going out of her way to make us feel at home and arrange for extra assistance with changing linens mid week when I had a change of guests even though she was on an Asian vacation. All in all, I think this was the best VRBO rental I have ever enjoyed. If I came back to Amsterdam, I would not stay anywhere els

Fantastic apartment, great location

  • 5 of 5

I spent a wonderful week in the apartment with my family in early spring. It was not quite tulip season, but daffodils had begun to flower in the back by the time we left. The photos don't do justice to the place, which is beautifully furnished, but comfortable enough to stay in with (older) kids. The natural light that pours in the huge back window enhances the artwork hung all around the apartment. We appreciated all the information provided about local attractions, shops and restaurants, as well as the excellent kitchen that allowed us to dine in when we needed a break from exploring. The place is very well situated, within walking distance of most tourist attractions, and on the edge of less touristy but equally interesting neighbourhoods. Among the things we enjoyed most were: Toos and Roos for breakfast/lunch, takeaway pizza from Pazzi, the Anne Frank huis, Verzetzmuseum, Vondelpark and Zandvoort aan Zee (beach town a 40-minute train ride away; probably too crowded in summer but lovely in March). My kids also really loved NEMO Science Museum, Het Scheepvaartmuseum and Henk (a comic book store). We wish we could have stayed longer!

Beautiful apartment in a great location

  • 5 of 5

We only have positive memories of our stay at FLorentine's apartment. The location is quiet, yet very convenient for walking to everywhere we went. The apartment itself is lovely, comfortable, and very spacious for Amsterdam. Highly recommended.

wonderful neighbourhood flat in heart of Amsterdam

  • 5 of 5

Well kept, clean , spacious flat. It was more spacious than we imagined. Good over view of neighbourhood from The Friendly Host. Beautiful garden.

I would stay in this flat again in a heartbeat. By the time we had been there for a week , we felt more like locals than tourists.

Close to great restaurants, shopping, canal right outside the front door & by far, the most beautiful entrance door to the building on the whole block.

It was wonderful to be able to return nightly & relax in a comfy, roomy "home"

Thank-you Florentine for allowing us to experience Amsterdam from your beautiful home :)
