This is the house were you chill out! You can't miss the good energy of the location. Everything is of the highest quality and taste. A large open kitchen invites to common cooking after having used the sauna and had a swim in the 16-meter long pool. Much effort is invested in the beds, linen and furnishing fabrics. The house gives a sense of security and exclusivity. The panorama windows contrasts beautifully with the local stone and the Scandinavian woodwork
We are swedes with great interest in international relations and the Luberon is the place for that. We have a large family, all living in Stockholm. We are proud of the house that mixes Swedish quality and design with French atmosphere.
Agneta is a interior designer and Johan is working in finance. We bought our first house in the region, build in a typical provencal style, some 15 years ago but when we sold that house we decided to build this new villa in a contemporary stiyle blended into the existing old ruins at the site. The style of the villa reflects Scandinavia and South of France in a extraordinary blend.
Agneta von Essen Ryding purchased this villa in 2011
Everyone who comes to this place will feel calm and at ease. The house is located with the courtyard to the south and a magnificent view to the north. The villa is on a slope which reinforces the sense of energy that comes down from the mountain.
Here, people have lived for hundreds of years!
The opportunity to build on this site is unique! We desired a transparent house and with the contrast of ancient walls the villa greets the past.
The house has won second price 'house of the year' 2011 and has appeared on 'Extreme Homes' HGTV (US) Feburary 2015
Anyone who is a painter or a composer would love this place.
Spent a wonderful September week in this amazing villa. Perfectly designed with the excelllent balance between style and homy feeling. The villa is full of clever details and have space for a large family. Not to forget the pool with its stunning view! Convenient distance from the airport and very nice located in an area full of beautiful towns, vineyards and markets. I would return to this paradise anyday!
The house is even better than the pictures! The views from every room are spectacular, and the exterior seating areas nearly double the amount of living space. The beds and linens are very high quality and the kitchen is very well equipped -- it's apparent that this is someone's home, and not "just" a rental property. The use of the old original walls to frame the pool area and the "guest cottage" (which is just a few steps from the main house) adds to the property's charm. The owner, Agneta, is very responsive and accommodating and the housekeeper Suzanne was very helpful. We wished we could have a second week and hope that we have the chance to visit again!
We arrived by plane to Marseille and rented a car, drove to the house in approx 1 hour (easily found with GPS). Upon entering the house a feeling of absolute calm and peacefulness emerged, helped us to go from work-mode to vacation-mode in an instant! During our stay we visited the villages nearby, found the markets and grocery stores very easily accessed from the house. Since we were here in July with sunny and hot weather, we loved the pool and used it from morning to evening, we especially enjoyed the late night swim underneath the star-filled sky! The house is designed with an exclusive and serene taste, a spectacular view of the beautiful area and a think-outside-the-box lay out with clever ways of creating privacy when needed. We can't wait to be back and enjoy the house again together with a couple of friends!
My husband and I had the most wonderful stay at this villa, along with a friend of ours who joined us from Barcelona for part of our 7 night stay. Picking up our rental car at Avignon TGV Train Station was quick and simple, and Google Maps easily navigated us the rest of the way along a pretty roadway. The villa is absolutely beautiful and serene, and well-designed. It is perfectly situated close to neighbouring towns and we had fun exploring a variety of places by car during our stay. The kitchen is open to the living space, which made it a fantastic spot to gather and cook meals together at the end of each day with the produce we had purchased during our daily outings. It was unfortunately mostly too cold and rainy during our stay to take advantage of the pool (unheated until May), but the spacious living room was a great spot to catch the gorgeous orange sunsets. We will definitely be back again!!
We thoroughly enjoyed our 10 day stay at this lovely villa. We arrived by train in Avignon and drove to the house in approx 1 hour. The house itself has beautiful open living spaces and a large and well equipped kitchen. Bedrooms are private with extremely comfortable beds. It's close enough to Apt or St Saturnin that buying provisions is easy, while it feels quite rural. Beautiful views and stunning sunsets. Suzanne who looks after the house was very helpful. We had difficulty getting the WIFI working the first evening we were there and she came right over with someone to help. We visited many towns in the Luberon each day and returned to cook dinner at home in the evening. One day we hiked the Falaise de la Lioux trail which we highly recommend. We especially enjoyed having a relaxing sauna before bed. We'd definitely go back again!
The luberon valley is the center of 'parc de luberon' which is a famous national park in france with its preserved small villages and nature. In the area there are beautiful vineyards open to the public with excellent wines which combined with the locally produced food is a sublime pleasure and a must. Interesting places to visit are: avignon: papal palaces gorde: the abby of senanque. Roussillon: ocher mines. Pont de gare: roman viaduct., ils sur sorge: the second largest antique market in france. The views, and walks in, for example, europes largest cedar forest are breathtaking. One of the best views is from the property sitting on a slope overlooking two small villages and ventoux.
