About Rob & Lisa

Hi there, I'm a native Texan, born and raised in Fort Worth. Lisa is a native North Carolinian, born in Asheville and raised in Raleigh. We've lived in NC since 1998 and have been traveling to the Black Mountain area since the early 2000's.

Living in Raleigh allows us to be close to the beach and the mountains. Of course we like the we LOVE the mountains! :) The energy of the mountains is the perfect place to explore and behold all its natural beauty. In a word, this area is transcendent.

I went to college in Austin and Asheville has a very similar eclectic vibe: great music, great food, and a laid back sensibility. There's so much to do our place is close to it all.

The house is recently remodeled and everything - from the roof to the HVAC - is only a few years old. The interior boasts hardwood floors throughout and natural wood wainscoting on both levels. We've also taken strides to make the energy in the house as comfortable/relaxing as possible. Items such as stainless appliances, a wood burning stove, rocking chairs on the back deck (and rockers in the house), and Biltmore bed linens & bath towels help create a space of laid-back-luxury. We also have discerning creature comforts such as gourmet local coffee (The Dripolator Coffeehouse in Black Mountain), a Ninja coffee maker, and a lot of great local artwork and photography throughout the house.

We love hiking, mountain biking, fishing, listening to live music, and hosting friends & family. Our hope is that you'll do the same when you stay at our place!

Why Rob & Lisa chose Black Mountain

We love the Asheville/Black Mountain area and the views of our place off the back deck are AMAZING.

We spent a lot of time here as a family when our kids were growing up so it just feel like home (away from home)!

What makes this house unique

Our home was completely updated/re-modeled from the studs up. It was done so by a master it shows. The craftsmanship and the finishes in the house are definitely those of an artisan.

Relaxing with amazing views

  • 5 of 5

The house has been nicely remodeled. Amazing long range mountain views. Furniture was very comfortable. About 20 minutes from Biltmore Estate and Asheville. My family and I would stay here again.

Great views, location and house

  • 5 of 5

We really love the Black Mountain area, and this was a wonderful stay. The house was comfy and clean, had everything we needed, and has breath taking views from the back deck.

We took the short walk up to the top of the road and were in awe of the 360 degree views.

The location of this home is perfect (at least for us). There’s two great natural food markets right in Black Mountain, good restaurants, tea houses and hiking. It’s close to Asheville should you want to explore, though we’ve done that enough, that we chose to skip Asheville and found we didn’t miss it at all.

Thank you for providing a house that allowed us to be comfortable and completely unwind. I’m sure we’ll be back.

Enjoyed the cottage. The view was breathtaking!

  • 4 of 5

The only issue we had with our stay was the lack of a few items in the kitchen. I would suggest smaller coffee mugs. The ones in the cabinet were nice but very large and did not keep coffee warm for long. We also needed dish cloths and pot holders.

On the positive side, the cottage was very clean, we had plenty linens and towels, and were comfortable throughout our stay. Thank you Rob and Lisa.

Great place for a quick getaway

  • 5 of 5

We recently stayed in this cabin for a quick getaway with friends. The location was great and the views were even better. Everyone who stayed there with us kept complimenting the amazing views from the back porch. The owner was very responsive to questions we had prior to our trip. I would definitely go back again! Thanks Rob!

Perfect Mountain Retreat

  • 5 of 5

We so enjoyed our stay at this lovely mountain property. This house has been beautifully remodeled into a stylish and comfortable vacation getaway. Everything feels new and clean, but also cozy and welcoming. We loved the interior design and general feel of the house.

We were a group of 6 women on a retreat, and it worked perfectly for us, but this house would also easily accommodate a couple of families to stay together.

The house is well stocked with linens (even extra towels) and kitchen items. The kitchen is well laid out and easy to prepare meals in while also feeling open to the rest of the house.

The views off the back deck are gorgeous. The neighborhood is quiet and gives the feeling of being away in the mountains, but not too remote. I would recommend stopping at the Ingles grocery store that you pass on your right before heading up the mountain if you need any food items.

The owners were incredibly helpful with answering emails, providing very detailed directions, and checking that everything was going well. We would all stay in this home again and wholeheartedly recommend it to others looking for a beautiful mountain vacation or weekend retreat.
