YUM! Quiet evenings, great neighbors, and only 9 miles from Alexandria makes our cabin the perfect vacation spot. We know you will feel the love here! PLEASE NOTE:
This is a real cabin getaway....much different than any experience you will find in a "hotel". The main cabin is all original wood from the early 1900s, with additions (huge front room overlooking the lake and 2 additional bedrooms) added in later years. It is clean and comfortable, with a view and location that can't be beat for the price. If you plan to bring a boat, PLEASE let us know so we can give you all the information about the lake you need to know. We do NOT have a boat lift and waves can occur suddenly. One calm days having a boat along is no problem but you will have to be willing to remove the boat in inclement weather should it occur (public launch is very close).
Our family would pack up and head to the cabin on the last day of school each year, and not return home until the day before school started in the Fall. It is here that my fondest memories of growing up are. Just a short 2 hour drive from the Twin Cities of Minnesota, it is a place that will melt away the ordinary stresses of life with it's quiet 'up North' country atmosphere. The lake is clean and refreshing on a hot summer day, and weekends bring the local cabin-eers up for relaxing, boating, grilling and entertaining family and friends. The sunsets are beautiful, the storms are intense, the evening skies are filled with bright stars and there is an 'up North' quiet not found anywhere near a city for sleeping and relaxation.
Mary Waste purchased this cabin in 1950
Our family cabin was passed down through the generations. The lakefront is known as the 'Gold Coast' by area residents, due to it's sandy beach that offers safe, rock and weed-free swimming, with Beautiful sunsets and the Lake Miltona Golf Course.
The views overlooking the lake are incredible! Living room opens up to a large wrap around patio with lots of seating. Two bedrooms offer partial lake views, and if you get an evening with waves on the lake, the sound of the waves are reminiscent of the Ocean. Awaken to the sounds of loons and birds with the peaceful quiet of the North-woods.
My family of 8 (6 adults, 2 kids) enjoyed a week at the cabin on Lake Miltona. The weather was beautiful and the sandy beach and lake bottom were excellent for kids and just lounging. The yard was perfect with lots of shade and a great deck. The ceiling and window fans made it quite comfortable. The kitchen and bathroom were well stocked - didn't need to go get anything extra. Plenty of cabin space and lawn chairs for everyone. We rented a pontoon from a close by resort for a day. It was quiet and very pretty, great for the family. We all had new experiences and lots of time in the kayaks!
Cabin owner was responsive and made sure we had all necessary information.
Our family, 6 adults and a 2 1/2 year old all enjoyed our stay------ fishing, nice dock, beautiful lake, kayaks, grilling, relaxing, a trip to the winery very close by,playing games in the spacious living room when it was raining. Nice clean, comfortable beds, great stock of dishes, utensils, and the "extras" not usually provided most places. Great quiet, peaceful place to get away from it all and make some memories with family.
Very clean, spacious and very well stocked with everything you might need to enjoy your time at the cabin! Our only regret was that the time went too fast! Wonderful! Would recommend to anyone!
My family of 6 adults from California enjoyed a 6 night stay at this lake cabin. It was clean and comfortable. We enjoyed sitting on the deck and watching the beautiful sunsets, which you can also see clearly from inside the cabin. It feels like home to stay in someone's family cabin with all their furniture and decorations rather than to stay in a hotel. It might be a small thing, but it was great to have all the household paper products, dish soap, etc. The kitchen is fully stocked with dishes, utensils, and pots/pans. We enjoyed the paddle boat, the kayaks, the new dock, and the sandy bottom lake. The weather was sunny and beautiful most of the time, but 2 days were cold and windy. On the "bad" weather days there was plenty of room for everyone (plus guests) to be inside, play games, visit, and enjoy watching the weather/wind on the lake. We rented a pontoon boat for 1 day at a local resort. We would rent again!
Very nice cabin, clean and comfy beds, perfect for kids. Lake has sandy bottom, good swimming and fishing! We'll be back next summer!
Best multi-species fishing in the Midwest. Paved central lakes trail for nature lovers. Beautiful sunsets. Pizza to steak, breakfast to late night snacking and everything in between. Museums, Theater, Carlos Creek Winery, parks, large shopping center, strip malls, specialty shops, cinemas, Historic Downtown Alexandria shops and numerous antiques. Inspiration Peak Overlook, Casey's Amusement Park to keep the kids entertained! There are six 18-hole courses within 20 miles of downtown Alexandria along with numerous other 9-hole courses. Or spend your day soaking up the sun on the beach, sit on a boat or dock fishing or pull up chair for a cold beverage on the patio.
