About Jeff Clary

I moved to New Orleans in 1993 to attend Tulane University. And the City that Care Forgot wasted no time sucking me in. As a young man, my Uptown neighborhood met my every want and need - a half block from Mardi Gras, a quick stumble to some of the best live music in the city at Tipitina's and Les Bons Temps, fine eats at Dick and Jenny's, and plenty of libations within striking distance. Now I am older, with three children, and though my needs have changed the neighborhood still provides - ice cream at Creole Creamery, snowballs at Hansen's Sno-Bliz, two playgrounds, a children's library, and pizza. And of course Mardi Gras.

Jeff Clary purchased this house in 2007

Guestbook comments from the owner

We liked staying at Jeff's place. It was clean, modern, and very well equipped. It was in a good location as you can walk to many restaurants and bars on Magazine Street. In fact there was a fantastic restaurant right across the street, Frankie and Johnny's. I liked that it was in a real neighborhood rather than a touristy area like the French Quarter. We really got the feel for some New Orleans neighborhoods, and did a lot of walking since we didn't have a car. Jeff was very responsive and even let us check out late on the last day, which was very convenient as our flight back home wasn't until early evening. I highly recommend staying here.

Great place!!

  • 5 of 5

Lovely place in a lovely part of town. We were within walking distance of a number of great coffee shops (Cherry Essprsso Bar), fine restaurants, breakfast joints (Toast and District Donut and Coffee) and shopping. The place is just as it is pictured and the owners were very helpful and responsive. I couldn't ask for more

Perfect Uptown Location

  • 5 of 5

This place was the perfect home base for our stay! Restaurants along Magazine Street were a short walk away. We hit the Whole Foods just a few blocks from the house for snacks and breakfast goodies. The owners were incredibly responsive. Audubon Park and the Audubon Zoo are just up the road, and I'm considering bringing my grandkids next time we visit.

NIce place to stay

  • 3 of 5

Overall rating 3/4 stars. It was a nice clean place. Neighborhood safe & quiet and parking not a problem. My only 2 comments/complaints 1. Dirty broken chairs on the porch. Why have chairs on porch if you can't use them. The weather was great it would have been nice to sit outside. 2. The pull out sofa was the worse pull out I have ever had to sleep on. In fact I could not sleep on the pull out sofa, I just sleep on the couch it was that bad, terrible 3 nights of sleep. If not for the sofa I would have rated the place higher.

Great space & easy check-in/out!

  • 5 of 5

The location was wonderfully convenient and we never felt tunneled towards the tourist traps. An authentic experience. Walking and riding the bus were our main methods of transportation and were easy to do. We enjoyed the space - updated and spacious. We will definitely seek this place out next time we come to town!

Great home away from home

  • 4 of 5

The sweet little house was comfortable and spacious, with thoughtful provisions throughout (a luggage rack would have been a nice touch). The neighborhood was peaceful, with a quintessential New Orleans vibe and walkable proximity to coffee shops, grocery stores, Magazine Street, and everything else I love about uptown. The owner emailed all the needed information in a timely manner. I would recommend this property to my friends and relatives.

This Uptown property is a stone's throw away from dining, drinking, shopping, merry-making, and Mardi Gras. Enjoy alligator pies washed down with Abita Amber at Frankie and Johnny's, just across the street. One block away is Dos Jefe's Cigar bar, which has a cozy patio area. Traveling with kids? Audubon Park and the Audubon Zoo are just 10 blocks away. The park also sports a par-3 golf course, a swimming pool, basketball courts, soccer fields, a jogging trail, and scenic views of the Mississippi River. If you fancy a quiet night in, there are two grocery stores within 3 blocks - Whole Foods and Winn-Dixie. Magazine Street provides ample dining and late night opportunities. Some of the best live music in the city can be found at Les Bons Temps or at Tipitinas, both less than a mile from the property. And if it's Mardi Gras you are after... Many of the Uptown parades line up along Jefferson between Tchoupitoulas St. and Magazine St. - 2 blocks from the house.
