About Jeff Clary

I moved to New Orleans in 1993 to attend Tulane University. And the City that Care Forgot wasted no time sucking me in. As a young man, my Uptown neighborhood met my every want and need - a half block from Mardi Gras, a quick stumble to some of the best live music in the city at Tipitina's and Les Bons Temps, fine eats at Dick and Jenny's, and plenty of libations within striking distance. Now I am older, with three children, and though my needs have changed the neighborhood still provides - ice cream at Creole Creamery, snowballs at Hansen's Sno-Bliz, two playgrounds, a children's library, and pizza. And of course Mardi Gras.

What makes this house unique

Our lovely house is located Uptown and is a laid-back residential area known for its oak trees and landmark restaurants like the late-night Camellia Grill and the iconic Jacque-Imo’s, serving Creole cuisine. Venerable live music venues include the Maple Leaf Bar, for brass bands, bayou tunes and dancing. Quirky bookstores and indie clothing boutiques line Oak Street, while Palmer Park has a popular monthly art market. Boutiques and antique shops sit alongside fine-dining restaurants, casual cafes and local bars on and around Magazine Street.

Cozy place close to everything

  • 5 of 5

Enjoyed our stay which was close to Magazine Street and Tulane. We enjoyed the walks but Uber's are also plentiful. The place has a nice charm, very comfortable and a quiet neighborhood.

Exceeds all expectations. This would be my first choice and my first recommendation to others.

The house was new, clean, well-appointed, and chic. The neighborhood was safe, quiet, and residential. The owners are a lovely family and were conveniently situated around the corner and gracious in every way. The neighborhood in general contained some of the most beautiful residences in the city and made for splendid walks to Audubon Park, the universities, Uptown, Magazine Street, and the Garden District. Cafe Luna and PJ's are a few minutes away for coffee and pastries and Domilise's and Frankie & Johnny's are down the street for authentic Nawlins cuisine. There is also a Whole Foods a few minutes away for stocking up the fridge and the pantry. The Warehouse District and the French Quarter are a quick drive up Tchoupitoulas for a nice dinner or a night on the town. Our stay here was ideal for whatever mood we were in, whether as a base of operations for forays around the city, or just a place to hang out on the front porch and keep it simple with your friends. I cannot recommend our experience highly enough and look forward to booking with this family again. Traveling should always be this pleasant.

Lovely house, lovely location

  • 5 of 5

We couldn't have been happier staying here. The house is really lovely, and everything was not only in great working order but also immaculately clean. The location was perfect for us, close to Magazine Street, a great gym (Romney's) a lovely breakfast spot (Toast) and of course literally a stone's throw from Frankie and Johnny's, a NOLA mainstay. I will most definitely stay here next time I come to NOLA.

Great place, great stay

  • 5 of 5

This was just the right place for our stay. The place is in great shape and has everything you need; the bed is comfy and the bathroom is great. Washer/dryer with detergent etc so you can pack light. Fluffy towels, strong air-conditioning (a *must* through most of the year) and the rest. It was perfect.

There's a neighbor in the other half of the house, so don't do those high-impact workout routines when jet-lag wakes you up at 5:30 am!

Location has a nice brunch place (Toast) 5 minutes' walk away, and all of Magazine Street 10 minutes away. Three minutes' walk away is a grocery store, making home cooking (totally possible with the kitchen and dishes/pots/pans here) a good option; we made ourselves breakfast every day and lunch some days to save money for New Orleans' great restaurants when we were out. Don't miss Frankie and Johnny's around the corner; we had like five visits here and we're already missing it.

It's just a stone's throw from Audubon park, which is great, except that on our visit (early August) it was far too hot to hang out in a park.

Finally, good transport links: there's a bus running downtown down Tchoupitoulas, and another down Magazine.

We will be back!

Charming little abode!

  • 5 of 5

Wonderfully convenient, tiny shotgun house in NOLA; welcoming, with all amenities. Close to shopping, bus, grocery stores, ecclectic Magazine Street, Whole Foods, and the magic that is New Orleans. Also a true neighborhood to introduce visitors to something other than standard downtown or French Quarter tourism.

Jeff, as owner, was as considerate as he could be. I am a native New Orleanian who visits my city often. I had a medical issue which forced me to leave earlier than planned, and Jeff was caring and helpful. Though on vacation, he was completely reachable, and very fair about options. (He left the number of a back-up family member who came to offer me assistance without hesitation.) Couldn't ask for a nicer family or a sweeter place.

Highly recommended rental and warm environment which makes newcomers feel like they belong!

Beautiful 1 bedroom/1 bath that came with excellent accommodations!!!

  • 5 of 5

This Uptown house is great for couples! My husband and I spent the week here and we were able to walk to a variety of local restaurants and stores. Magazine street is just a 7-10 minute walk from the house. There's even an excellent brunch restaurant that's a 3 minute walk away called "Toast." A must visit when staying here! We never had trouble with finding parking right in front of the house. You're only about a 15-20 minute drive to the French Quarter. We would definitely think of staying here again when coming through the New Orleans area.

This Uptown property is a stone's throw away from dining, drinking, shopping, merry-making, and Mardi Gras. Enjoy alligator pies washed down with Abita Amber at Frankie and Johnny's, just across the street. One block away is Dos Jefe's Cigar bar, which has a cozy patio area. Traveling with kids? Audubon Park and the Audubon Zoo are just 10 blocks away. The park also sports a par-3 golf course, a swimming pool, basketball courts, soccer fields, a jogging trail, and scenic views of the Mississippi River. If you fancy a quiet night in, there are two grocery stores within 3 blocks - Whole Foods and Winn-Dixie. Magazine Street provides ample dining and late night opportunities. Some of the best live music in the city can be found at Les Bons Temps or at Tipitinas, both less than a mile from the property. And if it's Mardi Gras you are after... Many of the Uptown parades line up along Jefferson between Tchoupitoulas St. and Magazine St. - 2 blocks from the house.
