Costa Brava villa in Begur with private pool and sea views

Bedrooms 3
Half Baths1
Space 2,152 sq. ft.
Property type house
Minimum Stay 1 - 7 nights

About the property

3 bedrooms plus single in tower, walk to Begur, 5 mins. to beach

Villa La Veleta has classic Costa Brava architecture on two levels and a stone tower. Large French windows from the living room, dining room and kitchen allow plenty of light and panoramic sea views. A wide terrace for dining and relaxing wraps around two sides of the villa. A new kitchen to a high standard and an overall update has been completed.

Three bedrooms and three bathrooms are on the lower level. Patio doors open onto a terrace with access to the garden and private pool.

An additional single bed is in the tower.

The large and private garden has mature plants, a lawn, and a private pool with tiled surround, Roman stairs, and lounge chairs.

Our location is quiet and convenient. We are within 1 km of the beautiful and historic village of Begur and 3 km to Sa Tuna Bay. A marked hiking trail just outside the gate leads up to Begur (10 minute walk) or down to Sa Tuna Bay (20 minute walk).

Several nearby beaches and coves can be reached within a ten minute drive

We have recently completed an expansion of the villa including an en-suite bathroom on bedroom one, a sitting room with sofa bed on bedroom three, and a large expansion to the terrace which includes a shaded dining area.

Exploring the Region: Beaches: Sa Tina Bay is 5 minutes by car or 20 minutes walking on a marked trail. (This is a downhill route and will take longer coming up.)

Aiguablava, Sa Riera, and Pals are 10 minutes by car. Llafranc and Calella can be driven in 15 minutes. Several smaller coves can be reached within the same time frame. Many are linked by marked walking paths.

Town & Country: The medieval village of Begur is 1km. Several ancient villages including Pals and Peratallada are 10-15 minutes. La Bisbal is famous for ceramics and antiques (20 minutes). Figueres, home of the Dalí Museum, and historic Girona are within a one hour drive.

About Denise Germer

We love to travel. We live in New Orleans in the US, but Begur is our second home.

Denise Germer purchased this house in 2009

Why Denise Germer chose Begur

After traveling all over Spain for work and pleasure, we rented this property back in 2002 and loved it best. We came back in 2008 and found it for sale. Since then, we have made several improvements and enjoy exploring more every time we are at home in Begur.

What makes this house unique

Our villa has a quiet location, but still walking distance to the village without being on the road. We are hikers and love the trails. We also like our sunny private pool, the incredible views from all over the house, and the large and mature garden.

Many guests have told us that one of the reasons they loved the house is that it looks and feels like a real home with decoration and amenities for a proper stay rather than just another holiday rental property.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Villa La Veleta exceeded our expectations. The booking system worked well and you replied very quickly to every email I sent. You supplied loads of info before which was very helpful. You have thought of everything you could possibly need for a lovely stay. Fernie is very helpful too.

Amazing property - great location close to the town. Loved it!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our time at the Villa so much. It was just as the site described it. The patio has amazing views and the pool was enjoyed by all of our group. We had 6 adults and 1 toddler and it was perfect. The little town of Begur was amazing. Great shopping, food and amazing gelato (which we enjoyed every night). This property met all of our expectations- we would definitely go back!!

Fantastic house with stunning view

  • 4 of 5

We so enjoyed staying at this house, probably one of the nicest houses I have stayed at. The kitchen was so well equipped that we lacked for nothing. The beds were comfortable and I have found that they are usually rock hard in Spain so that was a very nice surprise. The only very minor negative point was that I had mistakenly imagined that the pool was connected to the fantastic terrace. I plainly saw what I wanted to see in the photos as the pool is barely visible from the terrace, you have to go down a small bendy path to get to the pool. This is completely OK but you have no view when at the pool. I would stay at this house again. We loved being able to easily walk into Begur in the evenings and the coastline was just fantastic for walking along and was spectacularly beautiful. Book this house!

Owner's Response: Thank you for renting our house and taking the time to write a nice review. Yes, the pool is private. We like it because you can have complete privacy and swim without a suit if you like. There is a sea view from the pool, but not as good as from the upper terrace. Another good thing about the pool is that it receives sun all day. There is an umbrella if you prefer some shade.

Amazing location for a new years break

  • 5 of 5

The house is beautiful, close to town while also being very peaceful. Having a sea view from most rooms is also a huge bonus. The nearby beaches are stunning, and Begur is a fantastic town.

The house is very comfortable and maintained to a very high standard. The grounds are very well looked after, and overall we were very very comfortable.

There really is nothing I can say except this was a perfect location for our new years holiday.

Beautiful villa in great location

  • 5 of 5

This is a really lovely and well presented villa in a quiet residential area with stunning views towards the Mediterranean sea. Also it is an easy 15 minute walk to and from the charming village of Begur which has an excellent range of restaurants and shops. It is also possible to walk ( about 30/40 minutes ) to the small coastal village of Sa Tuna which has a few restaurants in a lovely setting. However the walk back is quite steep. There are also a number of coastal walks in the area as well as beaches - our own favourite being Sa Riera. Overall this an excellent choice for anyone wishing to visit an unspoilt area of the Costa Brava.

A great stay

  • 5 of 5

The villa was very comfortable and well maintained .The area exceeded expectations with lovely coves and historic charming towns. Only very marginal downside for us , who live in the country was proximity to the road but we soon got used to it and I expect town dwellers would not have noticed it in the first place!. Wonderful views from spacious terrace . All arrangements went very easily. Highly recommend it.

Owner's Response: We thank our guests for taking the time to review their stay at our property. So pleased to have another happy guest. I think one of the reasons guests enjoy our property is that we use it ourselves as a second home and it is furnished and outfitted for real use rather than simply another sparse rental property.

Beautiful Property

  • 5 of 5

We spent a lovely week in this beautiful villa. Everything was very smoothly handled from the booking process to arriving and leaving the property. We enjoyed the 15 minute stroll down the footpath into Begur where there were bars and restaurants to be found (the torches provided are a must in the evening!) We visited Barcelona by train on one day and spent the rest of our time exploring the local area. We enjoyed coffee in the square with the locals in Begur on Wednesday morning (market day) and we bought some lovely local produce in the bakery and delicatessen to have for supper in the evening. We were two couples, in our fifties and seventies. The weather was not quite warm enough to enjoy the pool at this time of the year but I can imagine it would be lovely in the summer.

Begur is a charming Costa Brava hill town with cobbled streets and a castle on top. There are supermarkets, a variety of good restaurants, boutiques, and bars. There are also bakeries, butchers, fish mongers, and pharmacies. An excellent tourist information office provides maps, market days for the surrounding villages and information on local and regional festivals and events. In summer season there is live entertainment in the town square as well as craft markets. Wednesday is the village market day.

Begur is the gem of Costa Brava because it is unspoiled by large development and maintains natural green zones. The region retains an authentic and charming atmosphere. Each day you can explore a new village or beach. There is also boat hire, diving, golf, hiking, and horseback riding all within a short drive.

Figueres and the famous Dali museum can be reached within a one hour drive. The historic city of Girona is also within one hour.
