We love the old architecture locally and the food markets old pubs and restaurants are what originally brought us to Camnetrbury
Matthew purchased this house in 2011
We bought this beautiful ancient listed building recentlyand carefully restored it keeping its beauty but installing luxury and design. It is right in the heart of the old city and one can walk everywhere very easily.
Designed by a well known fashion designer to be the perfect home from home. No. 32 is a stunning renovated old town house in the heart of Canterbury. The house sleeps up to 8 comfortably and is filled with beautiful modern art and 5 star comfort. The kitchen and bathroom are beautiful and stylish and the bedrooms are very comfortable
We are so central that everything is a short walk. The bedroom has a stunning view of the cathedral.
Sky satellite TV and free WiFi are fantastic
Canterbury is the most beautiful theater and cathedral city and nearby is Whitstable on the sea and the new Turner gallery at Margate.
Matthew's house is a little gem of a place that you will absolutely love. It is charming, homey and very conveniently located. It has a lovely living area with a very comfortable couch and a well equipped kitchen. Upon arrival we were met by Matthew's friend, Caroline, who was very helpful and eager to show us around the house. Beds are comfy and spacious. House was extremely clean. We enjoyed having breakfasts in the dinning area with access to the little backyard. Staying at Matthew's house will be the cherry on the cake of your visit to the lovely Canterbury.
This house was perfect for us in every way. It's beautifully decorated, quiet, and the beds were very comfortable. The kitchen was fully stocked and it was great to have the dishwasher and washing machine, too. We were lucky to have good weather and used the garden (although did not have enough time to also use the gas grill!). The house is situated within quick walking distance of the city centre, and you can see the Cathedral from the upstairs bedroom. There are great restaurants right around the corner, as well as two newsagents and a pub. It's an easy walk to Canterbury West train station, Sainsbury's, and the High Street, as well as very easy to find by car.
I think that this house might be challenging for people with mobility issues because of the steep narrow stairs. But for everyone else, this house is the perfect base for exploring Canterbury. Thank you so much to Matthew, Irma, and Caroline for a great holiday!
Very spacious house with central heating, 4 minutes walking distance to the centre of the city, lovely garden and well equipped kitchen. Me and my family were really pleased how big and bright the house was, very cozy, it almost felt like home. :)
I stayed at the house for the weekend with my family and i must say, the house was exactly like that pictures.
The house was a few minutes away from the centre of the city, which it was perfect for us since we wanted to explore this lovely city by foot. The house was complete, the kitchen was very well equipped, tv, the bathroom was huge and the rooms spacious and lovely garden.
I would definitely recommend everyone to stay here if you are visiting Canterbury.
We stayed at the house for a couple of days and I must say, the house is incredible!
The house is very well situated, next to the center (4min walk) but also within minutes to the country side roads. Parking is close by and fairly cheap.
The house is complete, Digital TV, very well equipped kitchen, wifi, heating etc..
Rooms have a nice size and the beds are great, the bathroom has all the comfort needed with even a rain showerhead.
Matthew and Caroline have been wonderful hosts, communication is polite and fast.
If you are looking to stay in Canterbury and it’s environment, stop looking! You found it!
Little ( but important) side note on this review; Canterbury is a great city! Very alive but full of history! There is also much more to do beside the cathedral..
The environment of Canterbury is great and easy to access! We visited Faversham, Withstable, Dover and the Historic Dockyard in Chatham (this museum is Awesome! Take your time for it).
Having stayed here for a week over the christmas holidays with my family. What can I say, it is perfectly situated within a minute walk from the cathedral and a 2 minute walk from the centre of the bustling city. This was perfect as we wanted to venture out and explore the different parts. I was also pleasantly surprised at for a city centre house how spacious it is with a lovely garden to enjoy if only the weather was a bit warmer!! I would highly recommend anyone visiting Canterbury to stay here.
Canterbury is one of the most beautiful historic cities in Britain, full of beautiful old English pubs, fantastic food in its many restaurants and a great theater. Close by is the Tate museum at Margate and the beautiful seaside town of Whitstable
