Centro House Rental Photos and Description

3br/2ba - Sleeps 6

Welcome to Casa Noel, tucked in the heart of historic Merida Centro. This beautiful colonial home is perfectly located less than two blocks from the many attractions of the Paseo Montejo and the Plaza Grande is an easy ten minute walk away. Three blocks from the house, enjoy the daily market at Santa Ana park. Every day, merchants serve up favorite local foods, souvenirs and services. Santa Ana is also home to numerous art galleries, featuring art in many forms from around the world with a focus on Mexican and Latin American artists.

Hiding behind the simple colonial facade, Casa Noel will quickly become your refuge from the busy city life. The tall entry doors reveal a view through the house to the central courtyard and from there to the rear garden. Traditional high ceilings and pasta tile floors combine with modern touches in a perfect blend of comfort and old Mexico.

The comfortable living room includes a flat screen HD television with cable and dvd player. The cable service includes English language news, sports and movie channels, along with extensive Spanish language selections. Casa Noel is also equipped with high speed wireless internet access.

A second living space is adjacent to the central courtyard, opening through the original wood archway to this bright and airy space. In the center of the house, this covered and screened center courtyard brings light and breezes to the living spaces. Sit here in the morning at the café table with your coffee and enjoy breakfast to the sounds of birds in the nearby trees.

The all new, much larger and modern kitchen opens off the central courtyard as well. Broad doors and windows bring in cooling breezes and light filtered through the courtyard plantings.

The dining room with seating for eight and fully equipped kitchen open onto a covered outdoor terrace leading to the gardens featuring a pool set amidst beautiful tropical plantings. A refreshing outdoor shower is located near the pool. Enjoy the sun in the garden surrounding the pool, or rest in the shade of the terrace.

The home includes three stunning bedrooms with 17 foot ceilings featuring the original pasta tile floors. New queen size beds, ceiling fans and air conditioning in each bedroom assure your comfort. The all new master bedroom features an en-suite bathroom with a delightful rainfall shower and dual sinks. The bedroom opens onto the quiet rear courtyard through high doors with a view of the pool and gardens, and offers complete privacy from the rest of the house.

Within a block of Casa Noel you will find multiple options for dining out, from a traditional cocina economica to various ethnic cuisines. Just two blocks away on Paseo Montejo you will find many restaurant and shopping options, along with several interesting museums. The daily Santa Ana market has a broad selection of meats, fresh fruits and vegetables, and a small supermarket is nearby as well.

Our local property manager speaks excellent English. She and her staff can arrange nearly any additional service you may need, including transportation, child care, travel information, shopping, massage or a cook. You may want the unique experience of a private cooking lesson for your party focused on local Yucatecan cuisine.

We invite your family to make our home your home in the beautiful colonial heart of Merida and the Yucatan peninsula.

Why Rex Noel chose Merida

Merida is truly authentic Mexico. The city itself and the surrounding countryside take us back to a more tranquil time when friends and family are more important than.... well, anything. The local people are warm, friendly and welcoming. We wander the streets at all hours in complete safety. And our time here leaves us relaxed and ready to face our busy lives again.

What makes this house unique

The location of Casa Noel is nearly perfect. On a quiet, bus free street, yet very close to so much of the city life that attracted us to Merida. The Paseo Montejo is just two blocks away with numerous restaurants and shops. Our local Santa Ana market offers a true Mexican shopping experience along with many of the services we have needed as homeowners and is just three blocks away. And we are within an easy 15 minute walk of the Plaza Grande yet discreetly removed from the noise and bustle of that area.

And when you choose to remain home and relax, the quiet comfort of our home, gardens and outdoor living spaces will allow you to rest, refresh and recharge.

Great house in a good area

  • 5 of 5

We loved this house the first time we stayed here in 2012. It is even better now following extensive layout changes and renovations. It accommodates 6 people in absolute comfort and true colonial style. Like many Merida colonials, it doesn't look much from the street, but inside you will find a spacious, classy gem, fully reflecting Merida's heyday in the late 19th / early 20th century when, due to the henequen (sisal) trade, it reputedly had more millionaires per square mile than anywhere else in the world!! The majestic villas on the Paseo Montejo, just two blocks away, bear full testament to this fascinating history. 3 roomy bedrooms have ceiling fans and AC ensuring a good sleep on warm Yucatan nights. The 2 bathrooms (one en-suite to the master bedroom) are modern with powerful showers. The kitchen is well stocked for home cooking, supplemented by a gas BBQ on the patio. The house is large and airy with 2 comfortably furnished living spaces, a large dining area and a covered terrace area indoors and a large mosquito proof patio adjoining the outdoor pool area. The wi-fi and cable TV work well and the owner provides considerable information about things to do and see in Merida and its surrounds. We rented a car, but the house is central so this might not be necessary for everyone. All-in-all a wonderful house which is highly recommended.

Exceeded high expectations!

  • 5 of 5

When you see the pictures and reviews of Casa Noel, you fall in love with this house, but when you arrive and open the door, you simply can't believe such beauty and space! The entrance hall with nice flowers, the tiled floors and high ceilings, screened patio, etc. The material on Mérida and surroundings helped us refine our travel plans. My 3 kids loved the pool. Has everything you can need, and Andrea was always prompt to answer our questions and help us out when needed. Yucatán has so much to offer and to have a place like Casa Noel makes any vacation a dream come true.

Warm, cozy...feels like Mexico! Beautiful Casa

  • 5 of 5

Our first impression when entering Casa Noel was, wow! this is gorgeous, this is exactly what we were looking for. It is one of the few times when the description and pictures really match what you see when you get there. The high ceilings, beautiful big doors and windows made out of old wood take you back in time when the colonial period, yet the house has all the commodities of a modern life style. My husband and I visited with our three children in our first trip to Merida. Although we had a car, we did not used it for the most part since a lot of places are within a walking distance (restaurants, museums, Paseo Montejo, etc). The house is very spacious, the beds are comfortable, bathrooms are very nice and big, the water pressure is perfect and we always had hot water. The house has an interior garden or "patio area" between one of the living rooms and the dining room that gives you the opportunity of enjoying a lovely outdoor patio without the mosquitoes...besides the fact that provides lots of light to the house. In a nutshell, we had a wonderful stay where in visiting Merida, the experience of staying at Casa Noel completed our memories in a beautiful way.

Lovely stay!

  • 5 of 5

Our multigenerational family group were all thrilled with our stay at Casa Noel! The house is gorgeous, more stunning than can be reflected in photos. We were extremely comfortable throughout our stay with spacious bedrooms, well stocked kitchen, amazing common spaces including a lovely (and well used) pool and outdoor areas. Once behind the the humble front door, one feels like royalty.

The location can't be surpassed, a few blocks from Paseo Montejo (do not miss the Sunday morning BiciRuta!) and easy stroll into el centro with all of it's vibrant pulse of activities with many art galleries found en route. Food is amazing with many great restaurants. Local buses are easy, and rather thrilling, to figure out. Day trips abound for those who can tear themselves away from lovely Merida! We did not have a car, and never had difficulty getting around.

We were very happy with Casa Noel---We inadvertently caused some damage (teenagers!), and the property manager was gracious in letting us cover the cost and let it go. We had all of our needs well met.

I would recommend this home to anyone, and hope our family can return to enjoy it again in the future!

A great casa for our whole family

  • 5 of 5

We spend over 30 days at the Casa Noel and in Merida. It was a wonderful winter retreat. The casa is large enough to have guests and family with 3 bedrooms and lots of common space. As a remodel of an older property, things do go wrong, but I think Andrea is always watching her email and anything not working was fixed immediately. She was also helpful with suggestions for excursions and general information. She also booked cab companies when we were sending people to the airport or bus stations. The pool was great and our family used it extensively. Wow, do we now know a lot about the Yucatan, the Mayan culture, and Merida. We went everywhere and enjoyed our extensive walks. Being close to the Paseo de Montejo is a real plus factor for this rental. Thanks to both Rex and Andrea. We just love using VRBO and have never had a bad experience.

Great Location in a Historic City

  • 5 of 5

Our family loved our stay at Casa Noel. You really feel like a local living in the area and spent many hours wandering the streets soaking up the experience. The house has all the conveniences you need and walking distance to shops and restaurants. Whilst we didn't use the pool it was quite relaxing sitting there in the evening. Would definitely stay there again.
