Nihilani is located on the North Shore in Princeville. Beautiful plantation style town homes set in paradise. Located within walking distance of six beaches, golfing, dining, sunsets, snorkeling, swimming (ocean or pool), and shopping. You will find this location perfect for all your adventures.

This 2-story, 3 bedroom (3rd bedroom/family room is not private), 2.5 bath, is 1,567 square feet, set in the quiet interior of the complex with a garden setting. Unique in character, it offers custom paint throughout, crown molding and high baseboards, granite slab counters, cream colored kitchen cabinets, upgraded lighting, and plantation shutters. With a split entry, upstairs level has the master suite with a California King bed, flat screen TV, soaking tub, double lavs, glass enclosed shower room, and large walk-in closet. Kitchen is fully equipped for the chef/baker, right down to the rolling pin. Dining area will seat six and has a slider door out to the lanai. Living room with flat screen TV, DVD/CD player and a selection of DVD"s, books, and map of the island for your viewing pleasure. There is a half bath in hallway off living room.

Downstairs has a private second bedroom with a queen-sized bed, flat screen TV and slider with lanai. The third bedroom/family room that is not private, has a queen sized bed, Day bed, desk, and laundry closet with full sized washer and dryer perfect for the children in your group. The downstairs bedrooms share a full bathroom with a tub/shower combination. Hallway to access the large 2-car garage for parking your vehicle. Ceiling fans in all rooms, upper and lower levels, combined with portable fans and tropical breezes provide for a comfortable stay. We have a central air conditioning system that is available upon request at an additional flat rate.

We also provide all the outdoor necessities such as cooler, sand umbrella, two sand chairs, boogie boards, snorkel gear, sand pails and a linen closet with beach towels.

Free wireless internet & phone for local, mainland, Canada & Puerto Rico calls.

Nihilani's amenities include pool with waterfall, jacuzzi, covered BBQ rec area for your food prep with sink, large granite counter top, table & chairs. All in a lush tropical setting.

We backpacked Kauai 32 years ago on our honeymoon and have visited from time to time. The incredible beauty of the island of Kauai compelled us to eventually want to retire here. Combined with the wonderful church families and friends we've met there, the weather, beautiful beaches, hiking and the locally grown fruits & vegetables @ the farmers markets, we are looking forward to that day.

Very clean and spotless

This was my first time using VRBO and so a bit uncertain as to what to expect. I was not disappointed. The townhouse was definitely upscale and very well kept! It was very clean and spotless. The kitchen was well stocked with plenty of cookware and dining ware that we used several times across our short stay there with the grocery store being only a 5 min drive away. I felt that it was a great location to see/do all that we wanted on the North Shore. The only thing that surprised me and perhaps I did not read the description well enough was that while there are 3 separate sleeping areas, one of the beds (queen) is in the downstairs den/living area that one has to walk thru in order to access the second bedroom of the townhouse. The townhouse has only 2 bedrooms. We managed but it would have been nice to know this in advance. Again possibly that I didnt read the description carefully enough. We took advantage of the beach chairs/umbrella and boogie boards that were available for use. Thank you Gail for a great stay!

We do mention in our description of our home that the 3rd bedroom/family room has a queen bed and that it is not private. It is perfect for children/single adult that do not need the exclusive privacy. The downstairs story of our home is like a separate living space that our guests enjoy. Good stay overall with minor issue

The property was very clean, well maintained, and is even better/more spacious in person than the pictures suggest. The owner is friendly and was responsive to questions/requests. My only issue was with the disclosure of the air conditioning - AC is an extra $20/day if you want it turned on for your stay but was not disclosed until I had already booked the place and got the rental agreement. It was misleading in my view and would have been more transparent to have this disclosed in the listing. They don't explicitly state that the AC is included free of charge in the listing although I've never booked a place on Homeaway or Airbnb that charged for it separately. It's a minor issue and $20 isn't gonna kill the budget but something to note if this matters to you.

We provide all our guests a well equipped home with quality bedding, linens, furniture and more. Our rates are low for this accommodation and so it does not include the added expense of the air conditioning. For our guests who come in the cooler times, and do not need or want air conditioning, we feel they shouldn't have to pay for it. We do have it on our website that we charge extra for it so we are not misleading anyone. We find that guests don't always read everything on our site. We appreciate your review and clarification. Be wary of the deposit..

My family and I had a decent time at this unit. A few things were strange for us but we assumed the host was just very energy conscious. A lot of the lights shut off automatically in a minute or two, so you will be taking a shower or sitting on the toilet.. Then you will then be in complete darkness until you are done. Air conditioning costs extra every day. Internet shuts off from time to time but as long as you know how to reset a router you are fine.

So the worst part of our experience. Our damage deposit was not returned to us. The owner claims we broke a chair. We are 5 tiny asian people.. We did not break a chair. We were charged for two chairs that one could easily pick up at a garage sale for $20 each. They were not fancy chairs... She admittedly stated they were worth $50 but she wanted a nice new set of 2 chairs. I had to really search for chairs to find ones worth $250 each or more. No invoice was sent, no proof of purchase, and VRBO is not an intermediary for your damage deposit so the owner can choose whether to give you your deposit back or fabricate a story.

I host as well and have had over 150 guests at my rental. Even if one were to break a chair (again, we did not break a chair), I would file that under wear and tear and move on unless they deliberately damaged something. Can you imagine that if Gail owned a fridge for 20 years and it broke down during your stay, she would charge you for it?

I hope we are just the outliers and the only ones whom have had this experience with Gail. It does seem that way after reading other reviews. Perhaps her perspective is really different and she actually thinks we broke a chair. My perspective is that we were taken advantage of which is sad: now this will be what I remember from a family vacation.

Sorry for the long rant, I hope people read this and find another place to book. The deposit was not the end of the world but what a way to end a trip intended to celebrate my mom's retirement.

Owner's Response: Aloha Reza - We are saddened that you and your family had only a "decent time" during your stay in our home. It is our hope that all our guest have a blessed experience during their stay. Our other reviews attest that this is the case. In reference to the vacancy sensors and the additional cost for A/C, we do our best to keep electricity cost under control in order to keep our rental rates lower than the average for a home of our quality (Electricity costs are double that of the mainland). As for the broken chair, nothing like this has ever happened in our home, and we are very sorry that this damage occurred as I am sure this whole matter put a damper on your trip. Perhaps in the future you may wish to consider travel insurance so as to protect your deposit from unfortunate accidents such as this. Our house cleaner attests to the fact that the chair was not broken prior to your stay. They move each chair during each out-clean for the purposes of vacuuming and dusting and the blown out back of the dining room chair would never have been missed. As our reviews and pictures will attest, our home is decorated with high quality furnishings. These chairs have only 4 1/2 years of use and cost close to $300 each (including shipping to Hawaii) when purchased. They are well made and should endure 10 years of normal use. As it is no longer possible to find the identical replacement chair, it was necessary to replace at a minimum 2 of the 4 dining room chairs. The replacement chairs are not as nice as those being replaced, but they are as close a match in quality and style as we could find. Their cost of $269 each (including shipping to Hawaii) is less than we paid for the original chairs. Unfortunately, a broken chair is not wear and tear. The damage and the missing piece of the chair are clear indications of abuse or neglect. Our representative sifted through the garbage bags left in the garage with a fine tooth comb hoping to find the missing piece of the chair in hope that we could pay to have the chair repaired in order to minimize the cost. Unfortunately, without the missing piece, the chair is a complete loss. This was not a 20 year old appliance that had served it's useful life and failed due to no abuse or neglect, it was a high quality chair with only 4 ½ years of use. Once again, we are very sorry that this occurred and hope this explanation allows you to reflect on your stay in our home in a more positive light. - Mahalo, Gail Locati

The owner Gail was so wonderful to work with! The home was very clean, beautiful and comfortable! It was close to beautiful relaxing beaches and we loved having the beautiful pool and hot tub to use as well! Wonderful bonus! Thank you Gail! We'll be back!
