About Marie Dingfelder

We are Alan and Marie Dingfelder. We have been married for 51 years and have 2 grown children and 1 grandson. We both grew up in Corry, PA and moved to North East 40 years ago. We live next door to the property. We are calling our vacation rental a guest house because that's just what it is. We have a pretty small house and when we have company from out of town, it is hard to know where to put them. When we renovated the property, we decided it would be a good idea to no longer rent it full time but to use it for our visiting family and guests. We like the results so much that we may at some point decide to move in there ourselves. We have settled on A & M Guest House for the name of the property. We would be happy to have you as our guests.

Why Marie Dingfelder chose Great Lakes Pennsylvania

There are some beautiful properties here in North East. Although our guest house is not on the beach, we think it is in a great location. We are about 3 miles out of North East and only 15 or 20 minutes from Erie. The town of North East has a lot to offer in quaint shops and popular yearly events like the North East Cherry Festival in July, the Wine Fest, Rib Fest, and others. The property is private with off road parking. The drawback is we are located near a railroad crossing. People either love or hate the trains. If you hate them and the noise from them, you may want to avoid our place.

What makes this mobile home unique

Centrally located between North East and Erie, PA. Keep in mind North East is the name of the town, not the location. We are located in the northwest corner of Pennsylvania. This property is completely remodeled inside and out. There is always lots going on in this part of the country. Every season offers something new - summer and winter sports, entertainment, shopping, located in grape country. The property is on a large lot with lots of off road parking. You can be comfortable and assured of your privacy. Kind of like a little 'home away from home'.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Dear Marie and Allan,

We so enjoyed your beautiful guest home and got a crash course on replacing old railroad ties too. It was fun seeing all the different trains! We wish you both good health and thank you for your great hospitality. P.S. Our dog Sophie is finally adjusting to the trains and their whistles!

Clean well stock rental. We felt like we were at home

  • 5 of 5

It's was perfect. Plenty of room for 5 adults and the dog. The scenery surrounding the property was beautiful, especially with the light snow we had all weekend. We were given our privacy as well. We would definitely recommend this property to anyone. We enjoyed our stay very much!

Owner's Response: Thank you Kayce, for the nice review. We certainly enjoyed having you next door. For 5 adults and a dog, you were certainly quiet. We always like to give our guests privacy - just the way we like it when we go on vacation. Please consider staying with us any time you come this way. Thank you for your kind words and for taking such good care of the place, and thank you for doing laundry. It surely helped me get ready for the next guests. It was much appreciated. Hope to see you again some day. P.S. we will be keeping our eyes open for your key and mail it back to you if we should find it.

Beautiful, well stocked house in the country. Peaceful and very well taken care of.

  • 5 of 5

Very nice house that the owners obviously take good care of. We loved the porch and backyard. Only trouble we had was that the gps actually says the house is down the road. It's really just past the railroad tracks so we had to turn around and find it. We loved our stay and will book again if in the Erie area.

Exactly what we were looking for.

  • 5 of 5

Lovely place, very well kept. Well stocked, too. Comfortable, and in a good location. Landlords are very sweet, and other than checking in once when we got there, they didn't bother us a bit. It was just what we were looking for. Highly recommend.

Great Property if you don't mind the trains

  • 4 of 5

My wife and I and our dog stayed at the property during the third week of June. I would have given the property a 5 Star rating if no trains had run at night. I will address the train issue at the end of my review. The property itself was fantastic. It has a great floor plan, three bedrooms, two full baths, a fully applianced kitchen with an adjacent dining area, and a living room. Outside there is a covered porch and a car port. The yard area is nicely landscaped and had a fire pit and picnic table. The front lawn was like a carpet and Marie even mowed it during our stay while we were out sightseeing. Everything inside the house was in perfect order when we arrived. All the appliances that we used worked flawlessly. The satellite TV worked and the air conditioning both worked great. Alan and Marie live next door to the property and whenever we had a question about the house or about the local area, we would text Marie and she would respond to the text a short time later. The only negative about the house (besides trains running at night) was the noisy air conditioner/heater fan. It is located in a hall closet and is quite loud. In fact, the fan upset our dog more than the trains did. The fan noise is not an issue except at night. The property is located in the middle of an area with many vineyards and is conveniently located near the attractions of Erie and Lake Erie. Now to the train issue. The train tracks are quite close to the property. There is also a rail road crossing that is quite close to the house. When a train goes by the noise of the engine/cars on the track is not bad, but the engine must sound its horn (3 times I believe) when it approaches/crosses the crossing. The engines are diesel switchers and their horns are quite loud and piercing. We rented the house for 4 nights and at least 1 train used the tracks (there are 3 sets of tracks) every night ( The most I heard was 5 trains one night). If you are interested in renting the house and the trains may be an issue, I suggest you contact Marie and get the property location from her. Then you can check out the location on Google Earth. You will be able to see the rail road tracks and the crossing and will be able to see the proximity of the tracks relative to the house. We enjoyed our stay at the house a great deal despite the trains. I would rent the house again should we return to the area but I may have a difficult time getting my wife and dog to agree with me.

Owner's Response: Hi Daniel, I can't deny that it was a killer week here regarding the trains. Unfortunately, it happened to be the week that you stayed at our place. There is no way of telling when work will be done on the tracks. The ties have been replaced about every ten years since we've lived here. I, myself thought that the noise of the work trains was more annoying than the trains themselves. Since the work took place during the day, there were more trains at night. Four crossings were closed along the route which added to the Inconvenience. . I do explain about the trains in the details of my write up and also the noise of the air conditioner/furnace blower. We were told by the installer that unfortunately with mobile homes, that is just the way it is and there is nothing we can do to remedy it. I'm truly sorry that your experience wasn't more enjoyable. We did enjoy having you and Irene and Sophie as guests. Thank you for your honest review and for listing both plus and minuses.

Located in Historic North East, Pennsylvania, 1/4 mile south of Route 20, 5 minutes from downtown North East, 30 minutes from Erie Airport. Also about 5 minutes to the Moorheadville Airport: grass strip. Surrounded by grape vineyards on private, large lot. Awesome sunsets. Short distance from Lake Erie Beaches, Wineries, Presque Isle Downs Casino, Peak'n Peak Ski Resort, Lake Chautauqua, Lake Erie Speedway, Bayfront Convention Center, Tom Ridge Center, Presque Isle Peninsula, Waldameer Amusement Part, Splash Lagoon Water Park and more. Railroad tracks border the north side of the property, separated by a large field. Some days the trains are busy, some days we don't see them at all. If you are a train buff, the Lake Shore Railway Museum is just downtown. Minutes to Walmart, Giant Eagle, Bob Evans, Applebee's, Taco Bell and others. Local yearly attractions include the North East Cherry Festival and Wine Festival.
