The house sleeps 10, however it only sleeps 8 adults , which includes a master bedroom and bath that faces the ocean and has a private balcony and jacuzzi tub, a bedroom with another king bed, a kids room with bunks to sleep 4 and another room with a queen fold out bed with no springs and exceptional comfort. There are 4 bathrooms. It has a living room with a baby grand piano, sectional sofa and window seat looking out onto the ocean and a formal dining room and kitchen that also look out onto the ocean.
The owners are native to Ventura County and grew up going to the beach here. We are very knowledgeable about the area.
This is our family home and the property has been ours long before this house was built on it. This beach house was built in 1983 and is a family oriented home on the beach.
This is a unique area and beach that is a favorite among locals in Ventura County. The waves are perfect for learning to surf with more advanced waves down the beach. There are also good areas for body surfing and boogie boarding. This is a private community that is open to the public.
My family had the best time at this beach house! It has all the accommodations needed while your there just like home. The house has an outside shower and bathroom which is great, since you'll be at the beach all day.! The view is breathtaking during the day and in the evening at sunset! This is our second stay and hopefully we'll be back!
Have driven by this stretch of the 101 many times but never thought of coming here for a weekend getaway until this trip. This house is perfect for a family outing (there were nine of us) and the beachfront location & view are fantastic. Plenty of beach right outside the door and big deck so you can watch the kids and the waves while relaxing. We were very pleased.
My wife and six kids stayed comfortably at the Hertel's rental for the first weekend in April. When the tide was in the surf crashed against the sea wall spraying water on the deck while we ate breakfast, while we watched a sea-lion play in the waves within 100 yards of our breakfast table. It was fantastic. When the tide was out there was 200-300 yards of beach + tide pools to play in. The beach is shallow, making it a perfect play area for young kids. We could kayak with them and if we got tipped over they could still stand up in waist deep water.
It was great fun to use their kayak and boogie boards, surfboards and paddle board. The views from the dining and living room were beautiful--we watched sea birds in the evening for hours.
The only downside to the property is that the beach faces south, so you can't watch the sun go down over the Pacific--it sets over the homes to the west. But the beach is secluded and quiet--a perfect place for a relaxing vacation.
Parking was easy and safe. The view from the deck on the master bedroom was beautiful, overlooking the cove-shaped beach and the lights along the shore.
Thanks for sharing your home with us!
We loved the house and the location. It was all that one would want in a beach house. Our son played the piano all day. The beach and surf are great for all except experts.
We had a fabulous time at the beach! Thank you so much for sharing your home with us. The weather was unbelievable--85 degrees for the first 3 days. The house seems to be fine--although I would not be a good judge of general things.
There are a few things that need attention: One of the burners on the stove did not work. The screen door kept falling off the tracks--David says you need a new screen door.
Looking forward to seeing you at the reunion too!
This is our second consecutive year to stay at this home. It is very accommodating and relaxing. After our first stay last year, we couldn't wait to come back. We are already looking forward to next year. We highly recommend staying at this house.
Our location is between Ventura and Santa Barbara. Both cities boast California Missions, museums and oceanfronts with marinas, deep sea fishing, and nice old downtown areas to explore shops and restaurants of all kinds. Ventura is home to Patagonia and Ojai clothing makers. Other cities are Oxnard/Camarillo known for their strawberry fields, Santa Paula and Fillmore known for their citrus and avocado trees.
