Hi...my name is Sylvia Fountaine and I'm happy and excited to share my Charming Southhill Bungalow with you. It's bright and sunny and sits on a very quiet, parklike double lot. I lived in this house for almost 20 years before moving to my current home, nearby. Im originally from Los Angeles, and moved here in the early nineties. I started a vegetarian restaurant in downtown Spokane called Mizuna and currently operate my catering business called FEAST. I hope you enjoy the home as much as I have...it"s a pretty special place.
sylvia fountaine purchased this house in 1994
We really enjoyed the area that the house is in. It's just a couple of blocks from a community and school playground and a coffee shop called "The Shop" that we frequented. I appreciated that everything you would need to stay in the house was provided (dish soap, paper towel, toilet paper, laundry soap, etc.) It was also a short drive to places like Target and grocery stores. My only complaint would be that things could use a deep cleaning (kitchen cupboards, etc). This house worked great for our young family!
We really enjoyed our 5-night stay here. It was almost as good as being at home!
We were three adults in town for a project that required somewhere we could spread out and work, with good internet access. The house was a nice size to accommodate all of us and allow everyone enough space.
The kitchen was amazing. It was so nice to have access to a full kitchen with everything we could have possibly needed. The fact that it had a professional stove was a bonus!
The interior is nicely decorated and was tidy and clean. It is an older home, though, so if you are someone who prefers perfectly new and sterile, this may not be the best choice for you. If, on the other hand, you're looking for a tastefully decorated, conveniently located bungalow, with all the conveniences of home, then this is a perfect choice!
Sylvia was very accommodating, and responded quickly to all our questions. Would definitely stay here again!
The house was in a good location for us with mountain biking being our main focus of the trip. The Bluffs and Beacon Hill were both very close. As well, great restaurants and a fantastic Huckleberry's grocery store are near by. The house itself had a lot of character and was fairly quiet. I would recommend giving the kitchen a good clean, dishes, stove and remove or clean the espresso machine and grinder. We did have problems with the toilet plugging but the owners were on top of it and had a plumber come over right away to fix it.
This vacation home had it all. Conveniently located minutes away from the convention center and Gonzaga and easy access to the freeway. The house is as described an the interior is neat and clean. The focal point is the kitchen. Some vacation homes or time shares have one pot and one pan. This place had every pot and pan and spice you ever needed. Being from Hawaii, the outdoor fireplace was a novelty that was used every night. Whether it be s'mores for the girls or drinks for the adults, it was a favorite gathering place.
There were so many good things to say about this place I have to be really knit picky to think of any criticisms. The only thing was the lack of curtains. The pictures had curtains in the living room. This didn't matter though because the house sits high above the road. All in all fantastic little home I would defintely stay at again and recommend to friends. Thanks Sylvia :)
My husband, our 1 year old son and I stayed at this adorable bungalow while on a trip to Spokane. It was so nice to have all the comforts of home. It was nice having a refrigerator to fill up and a washer and dryer to use whenever we needed it. The home is comfortable and nicely decorated. Sylvia was very accommodating!!
We stayed here with 3 teenage boys. The neighborhood is quiet and the location is convenient to the valley, the south hill and downtown. The kitchen is wonderful and the yard is perfect for a bbq. We would definitely stay here again.
House is located on the lower South hill, close to the Providence Sacred Heart Hospital, St Johns Cathedral Deaconess Hospital, with very easy access to downtown, Manito Park and I-90 freeway. Great walking with neighborhood coffee shops near by and historical Rockwood Blvd, with it's beautiful, historical mansions.
