About sylvia fountaine name is Sylvia Fountaine and I'm happy and excited to share my Charming Southhill Bungalow with you. It's bright and sunny and sits on a very quiet, parklike double lot. I lived in this house for almost 20 years before moving to my current home, nearby. Im originally from Los Angeles, and moved here in the early nineties. I started a vegetarian restaurant in downtown Spokane called Mizuna and currently operate my catering business called FEAST. I hope you enjoy the home as much as I"s a pretty special place.

Light, Bright South Hill Cottage

  • 3 of 5

My two week stay at Sylvia's place was very comfortable. The house is warm and light with lots of beautiful windows to let in the sun. The kitchen, which Sylvia uses for her catering business had every possible cooking need. She also left some condiments and groceries in the fridge. Sylvia was very responsive to my all of my inquiries both before and during my stay. The neighborhood is quiet, close to downtown, and within walking distance of shops and restaurants.

On the downside, the house needs some TLC. The main floor bedroom needs refreshing -- paint, throw rugs, lighting, bed linens. Heating vents should be properly covered. The vent in the bedroom was covered by a mirror and the one in the bath by a small moveable grate and a large wastebasket. The couch in the living room was very soiled and, in general, the whole house could use a deep cleaning.

These suggestions should not keep you for staying with Sylvia, if you are not a fussy type. Overall, my experience was good.

Walking distance to playgrounds and shops

  • 4 of 5

We really enjoyed the area that the house is in. It's just a couple of blocks from a community and school playground and a coffee shop called "The Shop" that we frequented. I appreciated that everything you would need to stay in the house was provided (dish soap, paper towel, toilet paper, laundry soap, etc.) It was also a short drive to places like Target and grocery stores. My only complaint would be that things could use a deep cleaning (kitchen cupboards, etc). This house worked great for our young family!

Comfortable home away from home

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our 5-night stay here. It was almost as good as being at home!

We were three adults in town for a project that required somewhere we could spread out and work, with good internet access. The house was a nice size to accommodate all of us and allow everyone enough space.

The kitchen was amazing. It was so nice to have access to a full kitchen with everything we could have possibly needed. The fact that it had a professional stove was a bonus!

The interior is nicely decorated and was tidy and clean. It is an older home, though, so if you are someone who prefers perfectly new and sterile, this may not be the best choice for you. If, on the other hand, you're looking for a tastefully decorated, conveniently located bungalow, with all the conveniences of home, then this is a perfect choice!

Sylvia was very accommodating, and responded quickly to all our questions. Would definitely stay here again!

Bike Vacation

  • 4 of 5

The house was in a good location for us with mountain biking being our main focus of the trip. The Bluffs and Beacon Hill were both very close. As well, great restaurants and a fantastic Huckleberry's grocery store are near by. The house itself had a lot of character and was fairly quiet. I would recommend giving the kitchen a good clean, dishes, stove and remove or clean the espresso machine and grinder. We did have problems with the toilet plugging but the owners were on top of it and had a plumber come over right away to fix it.

Home away from Home

  • 5 of 5

This vacation home had it all. Conveniently located minutes away from the convention center and Gonzaga and easy access to the freeway. The house is as described an the interior is neat and clean. The focal point is the kitchen. Some vacation homes or time shares have one pot and one pan. This place had every pot and pan and spice you ever needed. Being from Hawaii, the outdoor fireplace was a novelty that was used every night. Whether it be s'mores for the girls or drinks for the adults, it was a favorite gathering place.

There were so many good things to say about this place I have to be really knit picky to think of any criticisms. The only thing was the lack of curtains. The pictures had curtains in the living room. This didn't matter though because the house sits high above the road. All in all fantastic little home I would defintely stay at again and recommend to friends. Thanks Sylvia :)

All the comforts of home

  • 5 of 5

My husband, our 1 year old son and I stayed at this adorable bungalow while on a trip to Spokane. It was so nice to have all the comforts of home. It was nice having a refrigerator to fill up and a washer and dryer to use whenever we needed it. The home is comfortable and nicely decorated. Sylvia was very accommodating!!
