This chalet has been recently remodeled with all new floors, paint and many new appliances. The master bedroom contains a queen sized bed, the second bedroom has a full/queen hand hewn cedar bed and the third bedroom is known as the kids' room. The third bedroom has tons of videos, board games, and nightlights. The chalet is fully equipped with silver ware, cook ware, two coffee pots (one keurig), a washer/dryer, two showers, a large private lower deck, and a full complement of firewood. There is also a tailgating grill outside and a one person kayak can be available upon request. The lake across the street is electric motor or paddle only and the fishing is catch and release as the idea here is to protect the environment. Less than half a mile down the street is a playground, a basketball court, and tennis courts that are included in the rental price. Plenty of listed amenities as well as the famous Poconos raceway, ski resorts, water parks, golf courses, and tons of scenic hiking and biking. We hope you enjoy our home as much as we do.
We purchased this property last year because we have always wanted a mountain place with a real fireplace that was located in a natural setting. We enjoy geo caching, eating good food, shopping and taking scenic drives. While our main home is in Delaware, we are originally from Pennsylvania and something has been drawing us back home for years. We thought the winter would be our favorite time in the Poconos because we had visions of hitting the slopes, eating at the local brew pub, drying out by the fire, and then getting a relaxing supper at one of the local fine dining locations. The winter was fantastic, but this past summer we also had a blast playing tennis, walking the dog, mountain biking, and exploring lots of local trails. We will probably move up there after we retire, but until then, we would like to share our home with you. We only hope that you enjoy it as much as we have.
Sandra Clevenstine purchased this chalet in 2011
We first fell in love with this area as we were biking through the nearby Tobyhanna State Park. We loved the lake, the beach the hiking, the biking, the fishing, the bird-watching and the many opportunities to photograph local wildlife.
The great, private, yet central location is what truly made us fall in love with this property. Our neighbors are friendly, we are smack in the middle of multiple ski resorts and we can take advantage of both the local restaurants as well as take in a Broadway show. The location offers a multitude of options with something for everyone.
We had a great stay here with the kids. We also used the local bus station to go into NYC for a show. The location is scenic with lots of good hiking trails and lakes. The deer came up to the deck every morning and one of them even ate right out of my hand! Will be repeating this vacation.
This was a great place to get away for a long weekend with the dogs! This cabin is very cozy and we felt right at home. I love the fact that dogs are welcome here as we have two that are about 50 pounds each. The owner was very responsive and answered all our questions about places to go for meals and for good walks with the dogs. I enjoyed having coffee in the morning watching out the sliding doors in the living room looking for deer, after tossing some of the frozen apple pieces for them. There were a bunch of deer in the neighborhood-4 and 6 point bucks as well as does with fawns, so I was able to take some fantastic photos! This was a perfect weekend getaway and we returned home relaxed and refreshed. Thank you!
This "chalet" is quite comfortable and was as advertised. It had all the essentials (including helpful items for our dog) and things were in working order. The house has a lovely deck (though not much seating).
The owner was extremely responsive and helpful. She promptly and thoroughly answered our questions, including helping us find some fun things to do on a rainy day.
I am downgrading the review mostly because of the gated community in which the house resides. It is downscale to the point of being sketchy and has no attractive amenities. We sometimes felt quite uneasy there. The lake access is limited and uninviting; swimming there was out of the question. Fortunately, the very nice and very nearby state park satisfied our summer-time recreational interests.
I would have a few other nits (e.g., the grill is a camping-style thing that basically unusable for typical grilling), overall we are satisfied with the home and thank the owner for accommodating us.
Took my kids to this lovely home to get away from the city, this is the second time we've stayed.
It is a perfect, relaxing retreat. The cabin is cozy and well appointed, from the modern kitchen to the bedrooms. I enjoyed the bedroom at the front of the 2nd floor - the view looks like I was in a tree house. The boys stayed down the short hall with two twin beds. Plenty of room to relax in the living room.
We spent the time there hiking and exploring the area - lots to see if you like nature. My boys love to fish and there was a pond within walking distance and a dalarger lake a short drive away. Wildlife was plentiful with deer and a bear sighting. This is a close drive to where we live in the DC area but feels like worlds away. We all came back relaxed. We'll definitely be staying again
We are family with three young children that travel all around the U.S and stayed in dozens of VRBO's and other home stays. We never had such a terrible experience as we had here during the Memorial Day Weekend 2016.
Where to begin? Maybe with the dead rat that "welcomed" us at the front deck that I had to threw away before my kids notice. Then there were the spider's webs all over the entrance floor that I had to clean before even sitting down after the long drive.
The promised Outdoor BBQ was actually a tale-gate small gas that missed the tube that connects to the propane tank so we could not use it and we had to throw away most of the meat we bought for bbq.
The house is cosy and the rooms upstairs are nice but unfortunately it runs down. Thus, the ceiling of the first floor got wet from a broken shower at the second floor so we had to avoid using the shower. When I called the owner she did not say anything useful and did not offer to fix it immediately or any compensation.
There was no cellular reception for T-mobile so I had to walk 10 min or Drive 2 min to call the owner or any other calls. There was no Wi-fi at property and thats crucial for families with children.
We followed all the check list of the owner before leaving but some how we were blamed by her for leaving the place not tide - although we worked almost two hours to clean the house before leaving and although we paid cleaning fee.
The house owner is probably rarely visit the house and she only based on the comments of her cleaning stuff so its your word against them. eventually she charged us most of the deposit.
everything was great> The house is well maintained, interior design is very cozy,We found everything we nedeed.,even long leash to keep our dog outside. It was our first experience, and it was great . Thank you for giving us opportunity to have a good time
We had a wonderful time at the beautiful cabin! It was everything we had hoped for and more! The cabin is in excellent condition, there was enough firewood to have a cozy fire going all day, the deer came up to the porch. The weather was nice so we could explore the near State Park in this beautiful area! We hope to be back!
This location is prime for relaxation not only with the ski resorts nearby, but this chalet is also close to the Great Wolf water park, outlet stores and a nice complement of both casual and fine dining. The small nearby town of Mount Pocono has all of the living essentials such as banks, drug stores, grocery stores, liquor stores, a movie theater, miniature golf, miniature golf and most importantly, good pizza. This location is well known for deer and turkey sightings. If you like the eating, golfing and excitement that is associated with casinos, both the Mount Airy and the Mohegan Sun casinos are close to your temporary home. The local town also has affordable bus transportation into New York City if you wish to see an enchanting Broadway show. The quaint villages of Jim Thorpe and Shawnee are about 30 miles away and they both contain great pubs, arts, hiking, and whitewater. The Poconos have been a highly sought after vacation spot for generations. Come visit and you will see why our customers come back year after year. Enjoy!
