Guestbook comments from the manager

We had a wonderful time at the Loon's Nest. This place came with all the utensils, BBQ grill, and spices for cooking. The view was amazing! The cottage itself was nicely decorated.

Thanks Brian and Catharine!

PS: We enjoyed the campfires, marsh mallows. the hot tub, the stars, kids toys, BBQ's, sunshine, trees, walks, wildlife and lake view, etc.

Our family will always remember this 2017 vacation.

The third sleeping area is in the living room on the sleeper sofa. We recommend pulling the mattress off the couch and put it on the floor in front. There are linens in the hallway closet and thicker blankets on top of the dryer.

We have two fire pits at the cottage. It would be appreciated if you could supply your own firewood. Sometimes there is some left overs from previous guests. It is also recommended to bring and axe to split your wood (be careful). Please do not remove any live trees for burning. Please make sure to keep your fires small, attended, and properly extinguished before leaving the cottage or going to bed. Thank you.

Perfect Stay at Loon's Nest

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I and our two boys had a great stay at Loon's Nest! The cabin was nicely appointed and had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. We spent quite a bit of time just relaxing and taking in the incredible views of Lake Superior. We cooked several meals and made use of the outdoor grill. The hot tub was a nice extra feature. :) We saw a black bear one night on the road back to the cabin. Most nights a friendly fox came up to our car too.

We visited Kakabecka Falls, Sleeping Giant, Ouimet Canyon, Terry Fox Memorial and the Diamond Willow Amethyst Mine. We would recommend the Thunder Bay Cheese Farm too... very good smoked gouda!

We will definitely recommend your cabin and hope to stay there again in the future! Cheers to 150 Years! The Beck from Iowa, USA

Beautiful house and location

  • 4 of 5

The house is beautiful and the location was wonderful. We loved hiking the Mink Mountain trails, the views of Lake Superior and the peace and quiet (except for the last night when a wedding celebration took place at the resort nearby, but we don't begrudge the newlyweds their fun). Our family fisherman found good small mouth bass fishing at nearby Cloud Lake.

Note that despite listed amenities including air conditioning, the house is not air conditioned. It is nicely furnished and equipped and made for a very nice visit to southern Ontario.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the review. The amenities at the cottage have been updated to properly reflect what we offer. The original intent of tagging the A/C amenty was to add some humour to our listing by suggesting the cool Lake Superior breeze would be enough.... This is the first time this has been an issue and we apologize for any inconvenience during your stay at our cottage. Brian

Fantastic stay

  • 5 of 5

Fantastic place. Clean, modern, and fully stocked with everything you need. The view is stunning but unfortunately the sharp jagged rocks and the lack of a dock made it hard to enjoy the lake. Other than that, no complaints. Places was awesome!!

awesome home on the lake

  • 5 of 5

My Mom and I slept here two nights. The house was clean and comfy. I liked that the lights were all labeled it made things easier. It takes a while to find the place off of the main road but the scenery is awesome and well worth the drive. There is no beach so if that is what you are looking for then this isn't your place. There are a lot of games available so if you have children there are a large variety to keep them occupied. It is nice that they have a limited variety of food there in case you forget to bring food with you on the first night. It is far from town and other eating establishments so it wouldn't be practical for you to run into town or the nearest restaurant to get some food. There is a note asking you to replace what you use which is perfectly acceptable in my book. The kitchen is well stocked. If I have the opportunity to stay here again I would.

We enjoyed a lovely retreat at the cabin for a few days; a perfect escape when rest and relaxation is required. Could have happily stayed for a week.
