Very reasonably priced especially doing Octoberfest when everyone else was booked and overpriced.

  • 5 of 5

We came for am early morning youth football game And decided to rent a cabin and enjoy the weekend . It was very easy to book and no hidden fees , or insane deposits. We were fortunate as to find this gem as everyone was booked due to it being Octoberfest and some kind of a run going on. The cabin was just as described in the ad. Very peaceful. Everything you needed and more to be comfortable . Extra blankets and pillows . The kitchen had plenty of silverware , pots, pans, it had that home feeling to it.

my kids really enjoyed the board games not to mention bird watching as we had a family of blue birds visit us numerous times on the patio. . The lake and park were very close by and if your up for for some pizza Neos pizza is about 5 min drive and believe me super delicious. Not stingy with servings and super quick service. By far the best pizza we have had in a very long time. Will definitely rebook a stay at the getaway.. For a longer stay this time. thank you John for this heavenly little gem you have here.

Escaping the heat!

  • 4 of 5

The cabin is as described. A great little cabin where you can "kick back" and enjoy the California mountains. John, our host, was very responsive to all questions I had, including giving me permission to reset the router when we lost our wifi due to a storm!

Having "instant" Netflix is great, if you have a Netflix account. Since up for a free month if you don't have it and use it while you are there.

The kitchen is totally stocked for all your needs, including spices, salt, pepper, and other staples. I even saw some pancake mix and coffee!

All windows have screens, including a screened front door for great cross ventilation (we were there in the summer). Grill in the sizable deck with extra chairs for your friends that visit for the day!

Real wood-burning fireplace for warmth as well as "smores". In addition, a heater in the bathroom, heater in the bedroom and a heater in the living room so I would think that you won't get cold! :) Plenty of blankets, jackets in the closet, sleeping bags, etc for your enjoyment.

There is no yard so kids will want to play down at the lake beach area at the bottom of the hill on the other side of the lake. It is quite a walk downhill and remember that you have to walk back. My husband and I drove! It's maybe a mile.

The area is very remote. I prefer not to cook so there is a little restaurant at the lake that serves hamburgers and milk shakes. The drive back to Highway 18 takes about 10 minutes due to all the curves but it is a beautiful drive and you might catch the most amazing sunset, as we did one evening. There is a little restaurant called "Blondies" that we enjoyed often - great Mudd Pie! Not open for breakfast but I understand that there are breakfast type restaurants in Running Springs, a few more miles away.

Big Bear is about a 30-min drive and Lake Arrowhead the same. Only because the roads are very crooked - but again, beautiful drives through the National Forest. We even saw 2 deer running across the road and up the mountain.

I would highly recommend this simple cabin if you are looking to getaway and still stay "plugged in" to the world outside!

perfect getaway

  • 5 of 5

This place is very charming and actually quite spacious... there was six of us: 3 kids and 3 adults. We enjoyed eating breakfast out in the balcony and enjoyed the shade of the trees and watching the birds. We played hide-n-seek, hiked the hill in the backyard and took midnite strolls. Kitchen had everything we needed. I did bring my own tupperware tho for our leftovers and food to take to the lake. Lake is less than five mins away by car! Also a really good hiking trail was also about five mins away.

Just such a perfect spot for a very nice family wkend getaway!

Probably the only slight negative thing i can say is Netflix was super slow, it kept freezing. but the tv had great channels so there were plenty of shows to choose from. =)

Thank you John for the perfect getaway! =)

Owner's Response: Thanks for the nice review Mhary. Bummer about the Netflix. The internet should be fast enough and the Bluray is hard wired (no wifi). I bet a simple reset will fix the problem.
