I work in the Park Rapids area at times, I have always enjoyed the up north atmosphere, the Property is very private, the views are amazing Year around, the big Pine trees & beautiful views of the lake really sold me,a very private relaxing Atmosphere.
We Love the private view from the deck, unlike a resort this is your own personal private space & getaway, also includes a New high quality Weber Grill, grilling on the deck is my favorite way to cook, My Kids and I enjoy swimming Paddle boating, kayaking, and taking the pontoon to the sandbar, we also enjoying four wheeling with miles of trails we take off right from our place, if you have four wheelers/motorcycles etc trailer parking available, on days you don't want to cook we take the pontoon to zorbaz on the lake for great pizza, Mexican food /cocktails etc. we spend a lot of time around the bonfire in the evenings, we also play board games, Wii, and watch movies, we have dish network as well. We had a great time at the cabin. Fantastic deal that the pontoon comes with the rental, we took the boat to Zorbaz for pizza and pool. Cozy with the lots of sleeping options. Definitely recommend.
This is a beautiful log home, great location and we are grateful it was shared. We are a family now with grown children and the intent of this in state rental was to take a week and find a place in a reasonable commute that was nice, clean, comfortable and allowed each of the 5 adults a little solitude, yet offered the ability to share a meal, a fire, and a laugh. We did a lot of exploring and felt this was a great deal that hit most of our needs.
The vast amount amenities included, the pontoon, kayaks and paddle boat was wonderful, the fire pit that included wood for us to enjoy a fire, smores and a evening wine was just what we wanted. The indoor supply of cooking utensils, beds that were comfortable (huge for me as I had triple back fusion in the spring). The cabin decorations made it homey and very very comfortable. For me, the pontoon cruises around Little Sand lake while sipping a "beverage" was so nice. The WiFi allowed a few of us with work obligations to complete them.
Kelly was so responsive. We had a few maintenance issue, (the propane tanks were empty, a 130 am wake up to a chirping smoke alarm, why do they only chirp in the early morning?) All resolved very quickly. Overall, great customer service.
We discovered a perfect 2 mile walk that afforded great wildlife views and many times, not a single car came by. This was enjoyed by all of us. There was a doe and two fawns that passed a few lots away every evening and this was nice to see. We happened to even see a small black bear while exploring. The evenings were so peaceful and sitting out watching the stars and hearing a few distant howls (wolves or coyotes) etched a great memory as well. The morning coffee on the deck allowed each of us a lake view to reflect on the moment as needed. The morning fog on the lake was a view to remember. We fished twice and although nothing huge, we did manage to feed some good size sunnies and perch.
We discovered that Nevus(Iron Horse-Wonderful eatery), Park Rapids with the Walmart and great little coffee house were all close enough to enjoy a ride.
It was a great week, and would rent again.

This property is at a very peaceful and very calm place with lake access. Owner Kelly is a very nice and very friendly person. We four families had a real great weekend time at this Log house. House is well maintained and is very spacious. We arrived a bit early; I informed Kelly about that and he was there at the Property before us. Owner provides Pontoon, kayaks and a paddle boat - all are in very good condition. There were also a lot of board games available and we had a good family time. We had bought prawns, chicken and veggies for Grill. Grill was clean and was read to use. I really don't have anything negative to say about the place/ the property / the owner / the amenities. Overall this is perfect getaway for a weekend.
My family and I enjoyed a wonderful time at this beautiful lake front property. We particularly enjoyed use of the Pontoon and going to Zorbaz on the lake. Fishing was great.
This rustic cabin with modern touches was comfortable and cozy. Our family of 9 included 6 adults and 3 toddlers, and the cabin was a perfect fit for us. We cooked most of the meals ourselves in the fabulous kitchen and we all fit nicely at the dinner table. The pontoon got used multiple times each day: to/from the multiple sandbars for swimming each day, fishing, dinner at Zorbaz, or just a simple evening cruise. Everything was in great working order, and Kelly (owner) takes great pride in ensuring the property is properly maintained. The lake is so impressively clear, that the kids got a kick out of seeing all of the fish and turtles off the dock, and couldn't get enough of catching the fish from the dock. One afternoon we spotted a small tiger-muskie hanging out about 3 feet off our dock. Another great feature for the kids included the huge closet in bedroom 2 containing 3 large bins filled with various toys.
Nearly, every evening we enjoyed smores or a cocktail by the firepit. There was good privacy from the next door neighbors, and the scenery around the lake was gorgeous. I highly recommend this cabin & lake!
We booked this cabin back in January so had months of glorious anticipation. My only concerns were:
Would it be too far from Minneapolis? - the distance was fine and we broke our journey in Mille Lacs for lunch and a visit the excellent Indian Museum. It was slightly cooler than the city, a breezy relief from the heat there.
Would 'Little Sand Lake' be big enough for us to explore for a whole week? - it was perfect and the kids absolutely adored seeking out the little creatures among the beautiful water lillies off the dock + spotted a pair of musk rats with great excitement. We found several excellent swim areas around the lake with sandy bottom and no weeds for swimming off the pontoon.
Would the cabin be a comfortable fit for our group which varied between x12 & x7 - it was better equipped than our own home and bristling with more technology than we wanted or needed or on a 'get-away from it all' holiday.
Would we see much wildlife? we saw bald eagles throughout the day, several pairs of loons which flew over the cabin, calling, every evening, the lake was so clear we could see fish several feet below. We put up a hummingbird feeder and they were buzzing it all day long (we were sorry to take it down at the end).
Would the bugs be bad? - of course there were some in the evenings but we honestly found they were worse back in the city than at the cabin and also lit the fire a few evenings for toasting marshmallows and star-gazing.
We have stayed in several Minnesota cabins in recent years and this was our first log cabin - it was wonderfully characterful and quirky, almost rustic if it weren't for all the modern conveniences within.
It was a wonderful holiday of a lifetime, we and our friends and their kids from the UK have memories we will treasure forever.
Thank you Kelly!
