About John Lewis
My wife and I are originally from Kingsport, TN and Winston-Salem, NC, respectively. I attended the University of Tennessee in Knoxville while my wife attended Appalachian State University right down the road in Boone, NC. I think we have always loved the mountains. Therefore, in 2004 we designed and built this authentic log cabin for not only our family, but for your family, to enjoy. We have made many great family memories in this cabin. We have also enjoyed bringing both friends and family to Brookview. There are so many wonderful and varied things to do in this area. This is also the place just to sit by the fire or sit out on the porch.
Why John Lewis chose Blowing Rock
One of the reasons we selected this property is because of its great location. It is so easy to get to from any direction, rain or shine. Everything you wish to do in this area is in close proximity to our cabin. The property itself is beautiful with the stream, the woods, and the rhododendron.
What makes this Cabin unique
This cabin has been professionally decorated to make you feel like you have stepped directly in a home, rather than a rental. Many of the headboards, tables, nightstands, etc. have been handcrafted with wood directly from the property. Not only is the cozy inside of the cabin so appealing, but also everything that is available right outside the front door. You can relax in the hammock, sit around the fire pit, play in the brook, or adventure out through the woods. If this is too much activity for you, rest in one of the rockers or swings on the porches and watch everyone else enjoy their outside adventures.

Great stay !! Plenty of room for everyone. Beautiful cabin. Would definitely stay again 😊.
Our family loved it, beautiful home and awesome amenities
We hope to stay here again!
Beautiful, Clean, Well Maintained
Wow! This place is everything its advertised to be and more. Our stay was for our daughters wedding. We found the house to be very clean and well maintained. The furnishings were beautiful. Place has everything you need. Bring your clothes and food and you are set. Very comfortable. Our family guests were quite pleased. This lovely home will forever be a part of my daughter's wedding memories. Thanks for letting us rent your home for our special time.
This cabin is perfect for family or group gatherings. Enough room to have "private space" but a beautiful atmosphere to gather around the round table in the kitchen! I have a feeling this will be our new annual tradition.
Weekend in Blowing Rock
Our annual family weekend in the mountains went very well. The house is beautiful and comfortable but no view except trees. The brook which they say is behind the house is nothing more than a wet spot in the lawn. We enjoyed a campfire but all wood was wet even the stumps that are used to sit on. We had to purchase fire wood. It was ironic that it is stated, no pets and I step in dog poop from my car to front porch on the day we arrive.
If it hadn't been for family I would not have enjoyed the weekend
Wow! Well I’m glad Richard enjoyed the things I can control! I’m glad he acknowledged that the house is beautiful and very comfortable.
If anyone looks at the pictures on our website you will see that we have a nice brook (based upon the rainfall) and we are surrounded by woods and rhododendron. We have a firepit and we leave the stumps and wood outside all the time whether it rains, snows, etc. We are very strict on the no-pet policy but when you take a trip to the mountains you have deer, foxes, bears, and sometimes even neighborhood dogs. I am positive there were no signs of animals in the house.
I hope our review readers will look at the other 97 five-star reviews and maybe draw conclusions different than Richard.
Cabin was clean and very welcoming.
Enjoyed the cabin with its 3 levels of privacy. The location near Blowing Rock was very nice with several nice places to eat. Many trails and outings were within easy driving distance and the Parkway was very close. Would definitely stay at Brookview again.
Brookview was established with leisure, mountain living in mind. It was designed to allow you to get away from it all and relax. Brookview is a new cedar log cabin with its own brook in the woods. The cabin is in a private setting and is surrounded by rhododendron. Much thought went into your comfort during your stay. You will find yourself just minutes from Main Street Blowing Rock, the Blue Ridge Parkway, and Grandfather Mountain. Price Lake (on the Blue Ridge Parkway) is less than a 1/2 mile hike directly from the cabin.
Rates & Availability
Additional information about rental rates
$175/Night for same-day stay with a 2 night minimum. Rates subject to change at any time. 3 night minimum during summer Rates are subject to change until reservation is confirmed. I would strongly recommend purchasing the $59 PDP versus the $1,500 deposit because by the time the credit card fees are taken out for both the payment and return of the deposit you end up paying more than $59.
