About the property

3 bedrooms, 3 full baths, 2 den areas, loft, 3 decks in woods with brook

BrookView is an aptly named, enchanting log cabin atop a lovely brook. Set in the woods in Fair Mountain Acres and surrounded by rhododendron, but less than 5 miles from downtown Blowing Rock. This large 2,400 square foot, air-conditioned home provides three outside porches (all furnished with comfortable seating and tables for dining). The top back porch is screened and overlooks the brook. Along with the brook, the secluded one acre lot includes a hammock, tire swing, and fire pit with a wood pile for cooking hot dogs or smores with the family.

As you enter BrookView you will find a great room with living area with a two story fireplace, a kitchen and dining area. The living area has a large stone 2-story fireplace with gas logs and a brand new 60” HDTV with a Blu-Ray player and surround sound. The master bedroom is on the main level and comes with a king bed, 50” HDTV, and private bathroom. Upstairs you have the open loft that has a queen bed and overlooks the great room. Also, you will find an upstairs bedroom with a king bed, TV, and another bathroom. Downstairs has four full size beds set up as bunks, a den area, foosball table and full bathroom.

This is a perfect location with easy access to the Blue Ridge Parkway, Grandfather Mountain, Appalachian Ski Mountain, the town of Blowing Rock, the Blowing Rock Equestrian Preserve, Bass & Trout Lakes, Linville Caverns, Tweetsie Railroad, the Westglow Resort & Spa, the Tanger Shoppes on the Parkway, and much much more!

About John Lewis

My wife and I are originally from Kingsport, TN and Winston-Salem, NC, respectively. I attended the University of Tennessee in Knoxville while my wife attended Appalachian State University right down the road in Boone, NC. I think we have always loved the mountains. Therefore, in 2004 we designed and built this authentic log cabin for not only our family, but for your family, to enjoy. We have made many great family memories in this cabin. We have also enjoyed bringing both friends and family to Brookview. There are so many wonderful and varied things to do in this area. This is also the place just to sit by the fire or sit out on the porch.

Why John Lewis chose High Country & Blue Ridge Mountains

One of the reasons we selected this property is because of its great location. It is so easy to get to from any direction, rain or shine. Everything you wish to do in this area is in close proximity to our cabin. The property itself is beautiful with the stream, the woods, and the rhododendron.

What makes this cabin unique

This cabin has been professionally decorated to make you feel like you have stepped directly in a home, rather than a rental. Many of the headboards, tables, nightstands, etc. have been handcrafted with wood directly from the property.

Not only is the cozy inside of the cabin so appealing, but also everything that is available right outside the front door. You can relax in the hammock, sit around the fire pit, play in the brook, or adventure out through the woods. If this is too much activity for you, rest in one of the rockers or swings on the porches and watch everyone else enjoy their outside adventures.

Perfect House for Family and Friends Getaway

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful home, very clean (important to us), comfortable furniture and beds. Downstairs was perfect for our teens to have their own space. This home was the perfect place for our family for the weekend. It's decorated very well and John was great to work with from the booking through our stay. We could not have asked for a better house. We enthusiastically highly recommend, you will not go wrong!

Absolutely Immaculate Cabin with Gorgeous Interior Decor

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at Brookview. We chose the cabin because it looked so cozy in the photos and we were not disappointed. It was beautifully decorated and absolutely immaculate! Our grandchildren loved the bunk beds ,the foosball table, the tire swing, and the s'mores made around the fire pit located beside the brook. The adults enjoyed the hammock in the yard and the time spent relaxing in the rocking chairs and gliders on both the front and back porches. We tried to envision how gorgeous the view would be when the many rhododendrons on the property burst into bloom. The cabin was conveniently located near Blowing Rock when we wanted to dine out. Hiking nearby Cascade Falls, Linville Falls, and Grandfather Mountain were highlights of our trip. We would definitely return to Brookview again!

Home away from Home

  • 5 of 5

I have been staying at this home for quite a few years now. Actually my family and I have stayed there at least 6 times in the last 8 years or so.

The home is cozy, warm, inviting and certainly you will not want to leave.

No better place.

Exceeds all expectations!

  • 5 of 5

Lovely home for a mountain getaway. From the comfortable beds, to the beautiful decor, this home is full of charm and a welcoming, warm feel. The porches are amazing, even on cold nights when snuggled under a warm quilt. John was a pleasure to work with. We will be back again for sure!

Great home near Blowing Rock

  • 5 of 5

This is a beautiful home that lives up to the pictures. The home is in immaculate condition, and has super comfortable furniture. 3 full bathrooms and 3 king beds give plenty of room to spread out. We especially enjoyed the ease of the wonderful gas fireplace. If it had been warmer out, I'm sure we would have taken advantage of the porch and back deck, both of which had comfortable furnishings. I'd say the only drawback to the home is that there are just 2 bedrooms with doors that close. The other sleeping accommodations are not closed off (king bed in a loft area, double bunk beds in the lower/basement level). So, for example, if you put kids to bed in the lower level, you can't shut a door between them and the main level. However, this wasn't an issue for our group, and we found everything very comfortable and just what we needed for a short weekend away.

An absolute jewel in Blowing Rock!

  • 5 of 5

We so enjoyed BrookView for our long weekend in Blowing Rock! It is very well appointed and exceptionally clean! The wonderful back porch with the rocking chairs, porch swing and warm touches is the best place to have a morning cup of coffee or an afternoon of propping up your feet and enjoying a great book! Not bad for a glass a wine and dinner either! So close to downtown Blowing Rock and so far away from the world at the same time! If you are not relaxed when you leave this little bit of heaven, you should stay and extra day! House is great and we will return! Can't wait to take a look at your other properties!

Brookview was established with leisure, mountain living in mind. It was designed to allow you to get away from it all and relax. Brookview is a new cedar log cabin with its own brook in the woods. The cabin is in a private setting and is surrounded by rhododendron. Much thought went into your comfort during your stay. You will find yourself just minutes from Main Street Blowing Rock, the Blue Ridge Parkway, and Grandfather Mountain. Price Lake (on the Blue Ridge Parkway) is less than a 1/2 mile hike directly from the cabin.

Rates are subject to change until reservation is confirmed. I would strongly recommend purchasing the $59 PDP versus the $1,500 deposit because by the time the credit card fees are taken out for both the payment and return of the deposit you end up paying more than $59.
