Located conveniently within the Grand Circle of Zion, Bryce, and Grand Canyon National Parks, this home is just 2 miles from downtown in the exclusive Ranchos subdivision. Our family friendly home is situated on 5 private acres, with expansive views of the red rock Vermilion Cliffs and the town of Kanab. You and your family will experience an open and inviting floor plan, with 3 bedrooms and 2 1/2 baths that can expand to 5 bedrooms and 3 1/2 baths for an extended family. The main portion of the home includes: a large master suite with a king size bed and attached bathroom with a large tub and separate shower - a second bedroom with a queen size bed - and a third bedroom with two twin beds.
The kitchen is well stocked with everything needed to prepare and serve home cooked meals. Enjoy the beautiful vistas while relaxing on the covered deck. There is plenty of parking with a three car garage available, and two fenced in areas ready for sleepover dogs from Best Friends Animal Sanctuary.
The home can be expanded to include an in-law suite that consists of a living/dining area, kitchen, 2 bedrooms (each with a queen size bed), a living area with an air mattress (as needed), and a full bathroom. This unit can be rented for an additional fee ($75/night).
Our intense love for animals brought us to Best Friends to volunteer and to see first hand what a very special place it is. Trained as wildlife biologists, we have always shared a passion for the environment. After our first trip to Southwestern Utah, we realized that this is where we were destined to retire to. Growing up in the Midwest, we met in the upper peninsula of Michigan while attending graduate school. From there, we spent 20 years in Maine building our equine, canine, and feline family! We currently live in South Carolina with our horses, donkeys, dogs, cat, and three very exuberant parrots!
Jody Amacher purchased this house in 2012
We were immediately drawn to this home because of its relaxed, open feeling, and the serene beauty of the surrounding cliffs and trees. We knew that it would be a perfect future setting for our equine family.
What more could one ask for than to have the opportunity to enjoy the area's natural beauty and to explore the rugged Vermilion Cliffs from your backyard, and yet be minutes from Kanab's charming downtown.
Thank you so very much for sharing with us your beautifully situated home. So central and comfortable to every place we wanted to visit on this trip. We had an amazing time!!
We (my husband and I) stayed for 5 days, and could have stayed for 2 weeks if we'd only known how perfect it would be. Kanab is such a hip and less traveled town to return to after the crowds of Zion. We spent the full five days exploring national parks, state parks and monuments, small historical museums, art museums, and marveling at the grand scale of the West, the friendliness of the locals, and the excitement and kindness of travelers from all over the world. The entire trip was inspiring. This exquisitely situated, well appointed, scrupulously clean and generously proportioned house was the perfect, quiet, calm, cool spot to return to after a fabulously hot and hectic day of exploring. In the early evening we loved getting cleaned up, soaking in the HUGE tub, then having drinks on the deck while enjoying the scent of lilacs, the delightful scurrying of jackrabbits, and the magnificent sunsets. After processing the day's wonders over some good wine (stock up before you get to Kanab... SLC or Paige has good wine stores), we'd head into town for a fabulous dinner at Rocking V or Sego. We also grilled a couple delicious meals at home while enjoying from the deck, the thrilling views of mountains, cliffs, and valleys. My only regret is that we didn't bring more friends/family with us, and that we didn't book earlier so we could have stayed longer. It's a spectacular getaway. The owners were great and even helped us out with hiking poles, local maps, guidebooks, and WATER BOTTLES (take them with you everywhere!!)
Very nice, clean and spacious, we will be back again!
The house is beautiful and conditions are perfect. There is everything we need to cook and serve. The laundry machine is very good. There is large parking area in back of the house.
The house location is very good. We visited Zion park, Bryce park, Page area, Wire Path during staying here.
It was wonderful to stay here for our vacation.
We all did enjoy stay in this house.
This home was comfortable, roomy and well-priced. The home provided great bedrooms and open, common areas as well, which includes a great patio. We thoroughly enjoyed the outdoor views (and beautiful red rock setting) provided in the area this home is located in and we look forward to staying here again. The home definitely exceeded expectations and we were very pleased with our stay!
This is our 7th year coming to Kanab and our 3rd year staying at his home. We love this rental home! The house is not only beautiful but it is very comfortable, functional and well priced. The living areas are very large so it is comfortable for a larger group. The large covered deck has great views and it's so relaxing to sit out there after a long day. The fenced in front yard is great for those of us that volunteer at Best Friends and bring a dog home for a sleepover. The home is less than 5 minutes from the center of town and the views of the night sky and stars is incredible.
The master suite in this house is huge. It is large enough to sleep 2 adults and several children can fit on the floor.
The home is very clean and well-kept. It also has a well stocked kitchen so if you choose to cook everything you need is there. The garage is huge and can easily fit 3 cars if you choose to park there.
The property owners are also great. There was a problem with the A/C while we were there so we had to contact them. They got right back to us, had a maintenance person come to the house right away and the problem was resolved by the time we got back in the evening. They then ch caked with us the next day to make sure things were still OK. Mike and Jody are wonderful people!
I really can't say enough about this house. It's the perfect vacation rental in Kanab!
This was our fourth time to Kanab and we have stayed somewhere different each time. However we would definitely come back to this property again.
We rented the property for two weeks. Most of the time there were two couples, ourselves from the UK and our relatives from Australia. The property is very spacious with a large master bedroom and two additional bedrooms on the other side of the living area, so there is plenty of room to relax. There is a large secluded deck outside with access from the living area or the master bedroom, with nice views of the red rocks. Inside the property is well furnished with plenty of comfortable seating, comfy beds and is well equipped with pretty much everything you could need. It's tastefully decorated and the overall feel/ambience of the property was one of space and relaxation. We really enjoyed having a BBQ on the deck, watching the sun go down and then climbing the small hill beside the deck to view the stars and lights of Kanab.
The owners are clearly animal lovers from the decorations and books around the place (there is a good selection of book stores and guides on the local area too). There are fenced in areas front and back and well behaved dogs and cats are welcomed. We had a number of cat and dog sleepovers from Best Friends and we all absolutely loved having them there. If you are staying inn Kanab then we highly recommend a visit to Best Friends (if you haven't already discovered it!) it really is a wonderful place if you love animals.
Kanab itself is a great little town to base yourself for exploring the wonders of Southern Utah and Northern Arizona. The Grand Canyon, Bryce and Zion national parks are all within 90 minutes drive of the property and all obviously amazing places. There are also a large number of amazing slot canyons and rock formations to hike to within 40 miles of Kanab and Paige Arizona is also well worth a visit (80 miles) for the Glenn Canyon dam, lake Powell and the amazing views of the horse shoe bend on the Colorado.
The town has a handful of good restaurants and some of usual fast food joints (try the deep fried ice cream at Nedras!) and a good selection of gift shops and adventure outfitters.
If you are considering staying in Kanab with family or friends then you can't go wrong with this property. We loved the place and will no doubt be back again next year for another visit.
Best Friends Animal Sanctuary is located approx. 4 miles north; tour and volunteer at this country's most beloved sanctuary. Gateway to Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon, and the North Rim of the Grand Canyon.
