My husband and a few friends spent an amazing week the Sea Lodge. The house was even better than advertised. Absolutely gorgeous views from every deck. Quiet and private, even though we could easily walk to the beach, bars, shops and restaurants. A few steps into the water and you're surrounded by incredible coral and other sea life. The caretakers were always available to help, and Marty (our driver) and his family made our trip an experience to remember. There were a couple of issues: the internet was not reliable, and the deck roof leaked badly, especially over the kitchen, making it impossible to sit on the deck during our two days of rain. The electricity did go out for one night, but I had been told to expect that when traveling to Roatan. Overall, we were very happy with our choice to stay at the Sea Lodge, and all agreed that we would love to come back and stay there again.
The house was in a fantastic location with a dramatic view of the water and within walking distance to west end. We were not fortunate enough to have great weather while we visited, but we thoroughly enjoyed the island. Elvis and Jennifer (the caretakers) were also very nice. Just a few pointers to those of you planning to stay at Sea Lodge. The rooms are all independent of one and other and do not connect to any main living area. The master bedroom upstairs has a bedroom with a bath and a small sitting area with a mini frig, coffee maker and bar sink. If any of the guests want to cook or have a meal, the kitchen is completely outdoors and is not accessible inside. We ran up and down the stairs to the outdoor kitchen for meals and it did become inconvenient, especially in the rain and wind. Speaking of rain and wind, the electricity did go out for about 10 hours over a two day period, and there was no generator at the house. That means no water and no electric. There were not any flashlights or extra water at our disposal so we had to leave the house to shower and use facilities. We did notice that many vacation properties and restaurants in west end had generators so that their guests could still eat, shower and use the bathroom. Also, there are no beach accessories, such as beach chairs, umbrella's etc. We were given one beach towel and one shower towel for a weeks stay, although if you ask for more towels they are happy to accommodate. I have rented 20+ vacation properties through VRBO over the years, and in this price range (almost $2,000 for a week) we are used to having some more thought put in to the guests stay and what their experience might be. We decided to leave a day early to avoid eating in the rain. We do plan on coming back, but perhaps will search for a property with a back up generator. Other than that...it was great!
This place is better than the pictures even represent! We had 5 people on the trip and this house was more than enough room for everyone as you'd imagine since it can hold up to 8. Very convenient spot in West End with just a short walk to all the West End attractions. Eco Divers is right next door as well and they were fantastic to dive with. Highly recommend!
I traveled to Roatan with my wife and 4 other friends. The Sea Lodge was a perfect fit for us. Each couple had their own room and bathroom. We would wake up each morning and gather around the outdoor kitchen to eat breakfast and decide what we would do for the day. The beach is only a 5 min walk from the house and the street is lined with bars, shops and restaurants. On our first day we met Capt. Author. We used his small boat for everything from water taxi rides, snorkeling, fishing and He even brought us to Cayos Cochinos for the day. His prices were much cheaper than the larger charter boats and the service was more personal. When we would get home in the late afternoon we would pick up dinner from a restaurant or a street vendor and eat at the outdoor dinner table and enjoy the sunset. After dinner we would have a few drinks and lounge under the wrap around porch. Sometimes we would take a quick nap on one of the hammocks before we went out and enjoyed the West End night life. There are a bunch of bars to choose from. We would normally start at Sundowners for a few drinks then head to the Blue Marlin. We walked everywhere in West End. The only time we were in a vehicle was when we got picked up and dropped off at the airport by Marty. His wife has a catering business and for $25 a person she came to the house and cooked us Lobster and coconut shrimp and a bunch of different sides. It was by far the best meal I had on the Island. By the end of our trip we were already planning our next vacation back to Roatan. We will definitely be staying at the Sea Lodge again. We can't wait to come back.
This property is everything described and more! Upon arrival, we realized that the photos on the website had not been photo shopped at all--it was really nice! The view and grounds were just as beautiful in real life as they were in the photos. The house had everything we needed for a relaxing vacation for 5 adults--my husband and I and our 3 grown children. The layout of the house is unlike anywhere we have ever stayed--we loved the outdoor kitchen and living spaces and put both hammocks to good use throughout the week. It was truly a getaway location where we could spread out and have our own space when we wanted it but had many areas that we could be together and play cards, have happy hour, etc. We spent many breakfasts on the upper deck and watched sunsets and stargazed from these decks also! The caretaker, Elvis, was a great guy who took care of anything that we needed. 3 of our guys are scuba divers and we used Seagrape Plantation which was a 3 minute walk away and a great family-owned and run business. We were very pleased with their services and highly recommend them. We were met at the airport by Marty Wood who drove us by the grocery store on the way to the house, took us for an island tour that was outstanding and took us another day to the South Shore zipline which was incredible! Highly recommend Marty. We had Marty's wife cook dinner at the house one night and it was the most delicious meal we had ever eaten!! Chicken, lobster, fried plantains, rice & beads with lemon pie for dessert!!! Very affordable too! We were sad that we had waited until the last night for her to cook for us, we would definitely have her prepare more than one meal if we returned!! Great location as we were within minutes from Half Moon Bay and restaurants and gift shops. We used the water taxi to get to West Bay and that was very easy to do. We did not have a car and did not need one as everything was within walking distance or we used Marty to drive us. We thought the food was affordable, much less than at most resort locations. Many of the activities we did were not expensive either. Tenisha met us at the house and explained everything clearly, giving us numbers to call if any problems which we did not have any. She checked on us during our stay and was there promptly when we checked out. All in all, it was one of the best vacations we have ever had and we hope to return again someday!
Great House! Just the two of us for an extended Christmas vacation. Beautiful location, far enough from the noise yet close enough to walk to town. Made contact with a local dive shop with help from the property management. Walked to class every day and was able to come home for snack/lunch before we started again. We got our dive certification in three days and continued diving our entire trip. Everyone was friendly and helpful.
Sea Lodge is located on a very private corner of West End Village. The setting feels remote, yet everything is within walking distance, restaurants, night life, groceries, shopping, dive shops...
