Gualdo Cattaneo House Rental Photos and Description

Traditional 2 bedroom country house in beautiful quiet rural suroundings

Casa Collina is a charming stone house built from rustic materials in the traditional Italian style with beams made from chestnut wood and terraccota tiles on the floor. The house has a breathtaking position at the top of a ridge with a full view of the valleys below. The house consists of a big kitchen/dining area and a small cosy living room with an open fireplace. There are two bedrooms with double beds and two bathrooms. Furthermore, it is possible for two people to sleep in a sofa-bed situated in the living room. On the first floor there is a large balcony. Outside there is a large covered terrace and a swimming pool, which is open in the summer season. Casa Collina is fully insulated and has a central heating system, which means that it also is suitable for stays outside the summer season. The house is placed in quiet surroundings near the little village San Terenziano, but not in any way isolated. The perfect place for a family holiday or a romantic get-away.

The perfect place to tour Umbria

  • 5 of 5

Casa Collina provided us the perfect place to tour Umbria. We loved the home with its well equipped kitchen, working fireplace, and very comfortable bedrooms and baths. The patio, with its wonderful view of the rolling hills, fields and olive groves was the ideal place to watch the sunset with a glass of wine. When the evenings were cool, we sat around the fire in the cozy living room and savored the memories of the day of touring Umbria's scenic hill towns and enjoying local restaurants. The house is located down a very quiet country road for peaceful sleeping. An added bonus is that Sylvia, the property manager, lives very close by and is always available to answer questions and show how things work. The weather was cool during our visit so the pool was closed. We also needed to turn on the heat, which warmed the house efficiently. Wi-Fi works well as does the TV.

Towns such as Todi, Montefalco, Assisi, Orvieto, Spello, Bavagna, Deruta were an easy drive for us. We shopped at the supermarket EMI for anything we needed for breakfast and dinner located about 15 minutes away at the base of Todi or the little supermercato in San Terenziano, a short drive from the house. There is no shortage of excellent restaurants in the area. A visit to the wineries around Montefalco, especially Antonelli, should be on the agenda.

Roads in the area are rough, but they were not jammed with cars, which made getting around easy. You learn to anticipate the bumps and potholes and curves.

Casa Collina is for travelers looking for an independent vacation experience that provides an opportunity to explore the history and culture of this ancient region.

Tranquil time away from the hurlyburly!

  • 5 of 5

Casa Collina is a lovely place to spend tranquil time away from the hurlyburly of daily life!

It’s a comfortable, stylish and well-equipped holiday house in a breathtaking hillside setting. We were extended a warm welcome by Sylvia and spent two idyllic weeks there - meals on the terrace overlooking the valley, the scent of lavender in full bloom, days relaxing by the pool with a good novel, and a glass of prosecco ... or two ... over supper watching a rosy sun go down! There’s plenty to see of cultural interest including Assisi, Todi, Spoleto, not to mention Deruta for wonderful ceramics. This is a beautiful part of Umbria and an unmissable highlight was a horseback trek in the hills kindly arranged by Sylvia. With a great restarant five minutes walk away for our lazy evenings ... we couldn‘t have asked for more and recommend it highly.

Discovering the beauty of Umbria

  • 5 of 5

Togehter with a couple of close friends, we spent two weeks in Casa Collina in august 2009. The view from the house is breathtaking, and we never got tired of it! Although we spent most of our time outside, it was really nice to stay in a modern, clean and well equipped house with a very helpfull house keeper just around the corner.

Even though the house lies in the country side, there are many interesting sites near by. We went on a couple of trips (Perugia, Montefalco, Orvieto and Montepulciano) but really enjoyed just staying at home.

And when we were too relaxed to make dinner, we walked the few hundered meters to the local and excellent restaurant or went for pizzas in San Terenziano just near by.

Our friends are very in to Italian wine and were very surprised by the quality af the Umbrian wine - which led us to drink (and bring home) quite a lot of bottles from Montefalco - known as the wine city of Umbria.

The two girls, both agend two years, were happy just sitting by the pool playing with water. And in the afternoon, they spent hours in the shade of the balcony.

We enjoyed the quiet evenings on the terrace with candles, wine and a view of the stars almost touching the horizon.

Going home, we talked about why this was one of our best vaccations ever. Apart from good company with close friends, we agreeed, that even after two weeks, we still wanted to stay a little longer and dicover a little more of the beauty of Umbria - and so we have already planned our next visit to Casa Collina!

Best regards,

Katrine, Rasmus and Karoline

Wonderful time in picturesque rolling mountains

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay very much in this nice and well equipped house in the Umbrian countryside. From here we could reach out to Umbria's places to visit, like Orvieto, Spoleto, Spello and Assisi. Todi offers all shopping you need for the stay and the kids favoured the large pool while we cherished the view from the two adjacent terrasses. The interior had a lot of attention to detail and in the kitchen we never fell short of any required device. In summary, we did not regret choosing this house and can recommend it to all looking to have a fantastic time in Italy.

Casa Collina is placed in quiet surroundings near the little village San Terenziano, but not in any way isolated. There are good road connections to Rome (90 min) or Florence (120 min). It can also be recommended to explore the area close by e.g. the fortified town of Todi (15 min), Assisi (45 min), Montefalco (30 min), where the many wineries produce world-class red wine. The house can easily be reached from various airports: Perugia (45 min), Rome Ciampino or Fiumicino (2 hrs) or Florence (2 hrs). A stay at Casa Collina could include relaxation by the pool, historic sightseeing and outlet shopping.
