About Denny

Denny met his wife, Kris in 1995. Denis & Kris found this property in 2010.

Denny received a degree in architecture from Lawrence Institute of Technology in Southfield, Michigan. After relocating to Marin County, Denny, a builder, began his own company, kastenbuilders.com. Denny has built numerous homes throughout Sausalito, Tiburon, Stinson Beach and the rest of the San Francisco Bay Area. Kris, a native Californian, grew up in the Napa Valley.

Denny purchased this guest house in 2010

Why Denny chose Point Richmond

When we found this amazing property, it was 1/2 completed & gave us (Kasten builders) the opportunity to finish building it. It is in a quiet and exclusive area with spectacular 180 degree views and is centrally located and minutes from the freeway.

What makes this guest house unique

Beautiful home with amazing views, convenient location, and wonderful owners!

  • 5 of 5

Denny and Kris - Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us! The property was everything we expected and more. I loved to turn down the lights and gaze at the city lights across the bay. We ventured as far south as Big Sur and north to Stinson Beach. Each day we picked a particular area to explore and it was refreshing to return home each evening to the beautiful view and quietness of your neighborhood. Thank you for your suggestions on locations to visit and restaurants to eat at. We loved the view from Mount Tamalpais and my favorite dinner was at Salute e Vita Ristorante. This was my first visit to California and I can't wait to come back!

Thank you,

Duane and Becky

Beautiful view + property!

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved our New Years Eve weekend getaway ! The property was gorgeous and the views were incredible! We were lucky enough to see the New Years eve fireworks across the bay in SF, which was super cool. Thank you so much to Kris and Denny for sharing your beautiful home with us. We were just tickled that when we asked about a tea kettle and there was not one, that Kris went out and bought one for us to use - that was very thoughtful especially as I am an avid tea drinker. Thanks again - we highly recommend this spot - just perfect and relaxing. You could sit and watch the water all day long - it is an ever-changing landscape.

Breath Taking Views, Great Location, At Home Comfort

  • 5 of 5

I am hesitant to write this review for totally selfish reasons... I want to keep this gem all to myself! What a beautiful, clean, amazing rental, with unbelievable views! We were blown away when we climbed the steps and opened the door to this beautiful roomy studio. It has everything you need for a great stay in a wonderful location. The charming little town of Point Richmond is a short walk away. Try Hotel Mac for cocktails or dinner, Up and Under Pub for sports and great bar food, or Kao Sarn for delicious Thai Cuisine. The ferry terminal to San Francisco is a short car ride away if that's in your plans, but honestly, there is so much beauty, and so many things to enjoy close by the rental, the choice is yours. Kris and Denny are great people...down to earth, friendly, and helpful, they just couldn't be nicer or more welcoming. This will be our go to place, as our son, and daughter- in-law, and soon to be grandson live only a few miles away. Hopefully it's available!!!

Gorgeous place and views

  • 5 of 5

This property is located high on the waters edge of Point Richmond overlooking the Golden Gate bridge and the city of San Francisco. The apartment is over the residence garage on the second floor with the owners residence above it. The house is well insulated for sound and it was not a problem with noise. The place is a very updated space and well stocked with all the conveniences for staying in, having dinner on the deck watching the sunset over the bay.

We were in the Sonoma/Napa valley area for 4 days when fires began and spent the next 8 days on the coast enjoying the wines the that region. So when we got to this apartment we spent time doing other things like: Walking the town of Point Richmond; going to Rosie the Riveter Museum, taking the ferry to S.F., a trip to USC Berkeley campus, and a trip around the North Bay that included a hike at a state park and having beer at the Mare Island Brewing Co. in the town of Vallejo. For the last night of our trip we went out for our 38th anniversary at the 4to9 restaurant in Point Richmond that rapped up a wonderful week of fun.

We had a wonderful time here and recommend choosing this studio - just for the ever changing views.

This place was a dream come true. It was quiet, impeccably clean and with a view to die for!

  • 5 of 5

The property is some distance from SF, but we never found the drive overbearing, there is also a shuttle that you can catch. Denny was most helpful when we needed him, but this was our 2nd honeymoon and we kept to ourselves. We went into to SF quite a few times, went whale watching in Monterrey, and found an amazing little beach called Muir Beach that we spent time at. I highly recommend taking the Big Bus B hop on hop off tour early in you trip, it showed us what we wanted to go back and see. The Bay Area is beautiful and I promise you that you will not find a better deal anywhere. Thank you so much Kris and Denny for allowing us to stay at your property and recharge our batteries. We will be back if we are ever out that way again.
