About Denny

Denny met his wife, Kris in 1995. Denis & Kris found this property in 2010.

Denny received a degree in architecture from Lawrence Institute of Technology in Southfield, Michigan. After relocating to Marin County, Denny, a builder, began his own company, kastenbuilders.com. Denny has built numerous homes throughout Sausalito, Tiburon, Stinson Beach and the rest of the San Francisco Bay Area. Kris, a native Californian, grew up in the Napa Valley.

Denny purchased this house in 2010

Why Denny chose Richmond

When we found this amazing property, it was 1/2 completed & gave us (Kasten builders) the opportunity to finish building it. It is in a quiet and exclusive area with spectacular 180 degree views and is centrally located and minutes from the freeway.

This place was a dream come true. It was quiet, impeccably clean and with a view to die for!

  • 5 of 5

The property is some distance from SF, but we never found the drive overbearing, there is also a shuttle that you can catch. Denny was most helpful when we needed him, but this was our 2nd honeymoon and we kept to ourselves. We went into to SF quite a few times, went whale watching in Monterrey, and found an amazing little beach called Muir Beach that we spent time at. I highly recommend taking the Big Bus B hop on hop off tour early in you trip, it showed us what we wanted to go back and see. The Bay Area is beautiful and I promise you that you will not find a better deal anywhere. Thank you so much Kris and Denny for allowing us to stay at your property and recharge our batteries. We will be back if we are ever out that way again.

Recharged and "reset'

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at "The Point". The accommodations were first rate. Views - spectacular. We felt we were a part of the community, yet it was private, quiet, and lovely. A great location; we could eat at the local deli; Drive easily to San Francisco; or visit Muir Woods for the beauty and grandeur of the old trees. We ate at local venues but also visited more touristy locations in the city proper. The Point became 'home' for us. Perfect locale for our 30th anniversary celebration. We reset and are ready to get back to work, refreshed and ready for (nearly) anything. Thank you for the opportunity to recharge.

3 Bridges plus the SF skyline!

  • 5 of 5

Bay, Golden Gate, and Richmond bridges all in view with a panoramic 180 degree scene from Mount Malapais to the SF skyline and broad busy expanses of water with all kinds of sailing vessels coming and going. You COULD just go here and plant yourself on the large comfortable deck and not move around one bit. It's that entertaining and ever-changing.

But lets talk about the interior. Well provisioned with all the appliances necessary with small touches like Verona Starbucks coffee for the coffee maker and a small basket full of welcome goodies including red wine. The bed is usually the weakest part of any rental BUT not here. Bed was dreamy. We slept like bricks. Table, chairs, sofa, TV all IKEA stable.

If you want to explore the greater SF area and not just the city (us!) this place is perfect. Interstates galore going all ways instantly and not far from Napa and Sonoma. We found 4 fabulous seafood places to eat within 30 minutes of the place. Petaluma, Walnut Creek, San Jose, Pacifica, Half Moon Bay, Berkeley, Sausilito, Tiburon all easily accessed. And for city travel? This place is 30 minutes from the Larkspur Ferry which drops you at the Ferry Terminal on the Embarcedero. Take in the special event ferries for a SF Giants game that drops you at the entrance to AT+T Park (we used one for the James Taylor/Bonnie Raitt concert there). All public transport available on the Embarcedero and Fishermans Wharf; Street cars, Cable cars, Muni, BART, other ferries, cabs, busses etc.

While there we also enjoyed the deYoung Museum (Summer of Love), the California Academy of Science, the SF Botanical Garden (these 3 in Golden Gate Park!) and we had the unique opportunity to do the Berkeley International Kite Festival.

Whatever you want to do (even if vegging!) this is the place to do it. Kris and Denny are spectacular hosts and their place is a once-in-a-lifetime stop.

Elegance on a Hillside!

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful condo in a lovely setting on a very interesting active SF Bay. Enjoyed watching the sailboats. One day the wind was not strong enough to fill the sails and 4 big sailboats towed in a line by coast guard or friend with a small motor boat.

Neighbors were friendly and helpful which was much appreciated.

Condo well supplied to fill basic needs and we were greeted with a welcoming basket which we enjoyed. Bed was very comfortable, lighting great, furniture comfortable, and appliances very nice. First time using a space efficient washer/dryer combo so that was great being able to do laundry right in the condo.

Great stay and would highly recommend this condo.

View that Can't Be Beat

  • 5 of 5

The view here is absolutely amazing. Day or night, it's stunning. The interior is a wonderful space with everything anyone would need. I'm beyond impressed. This rental is one of the best we've ever stayed at.

I only wish we could have stayed longer. Little tip - you can take the Larkspur ferry just across the San Rafael bridge into San Fran and avoid the traffic and the downtown parking fees.

HIGHLY recommended this property.

Wonderful view and apartment!

  • 5 of 5

The apartment was better than the pictures! On our first day we had a small problem and Kris came right away to fix it. It was delightful to wake and see the water and the city and see the lights at night. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.
