2 Bed/2 Bath Cabin In The Woods
About Diane Moller
I grew up in New York, Diane grew up in L.A. We both moved to the general area because we both love the mountains, the ocean and the many rivers that run through here. When we decided to get married we had to get more property for Diane's horses. So I had to leave this beautiful property...but now we get to visit it!
Diane Moller purchased this Cabin in 1995
Why Diane Moller chose Gasquet
I was renting a place in Crescent City but I wanted to own my own house. Even though I worked in Crescent City it was too expensive to buy there. So I checked out other possibilities and came across The Cabin. After buying it and living here, I realized what a gem I had. I can take my Jeep on the many logging roads and get the views of the snow covered mountains and the ocean. I can walk to the Smith River. Then there's the massive Redwoods just minutes away and of course the coast. And when Crescent City is fogged in The Cabin is usually in the sunshine!
What makes this Cabin unique
I drove to Crescent City to work 5 days a week and when it was foggy at the coast, I would just drive into the sunshine when I came to Gasquet. Then I could relax on the large deck in the woods overlooking the little pond.....so rejuvenating!

Great place to stay
5 stars all around. Clean, beautiful, and owner was easily reachable. The hike to the river is very short and the river was beautiful.
Just what was needed
This cabin was exactly what was needed for our week's stay. Diane (the owner) was fantastic in dealing with us and our problems that kept popping up even before we left our home in Canada. She was prompt in replying and was very helpful even once we arrived there. It was a perfect location to get to various places that we wanted to see, and more. Loved the hidden lake!! Directions, maps and all kinds of information are available at the cabin which made things easier for us to explore. Our dog loved the fact that it was completely fenced in so he could run around and explore. Would definitely stay here again.
Lovely place to stay
Lovely. The cabin is comfortable. I really appreciate all the little notes letting you know how things work. Diane did an excellent job giving advice on where to go, what to do. There are guides and maps in the cabin. It was just a nice stay.
Be aware, there is not much in the way of restaurants or markets nearby. That is not a bad thing, but good to plan for.
5 stars for a quiet cabin in the woods, with all the creature comforts we wanted. And for how well Diane took care of us during our stay.
This was an awesome cabin. Felt like we were in the woods and private. All the local information was great!
Just what we wanted.
Lovely property in a lovely location. Clean, comfy, and as described. Great location for our time exploring Redwoods National Park and the coast. Diane was responsive and provided a lot of ideas for the area. Thanks!
Smith river is very nice but a bit of a walk from the cabin
National Scenic Hwy 199 follows the Smith River. There are many pull-offs along the Hwy where you can park and take the trails that go down to the river. The Smith River offers swimming, fishing, rafting or kayaking. The best part is, since there are so many places, is that you can find a place to have all to yourself!
There's a nice auto tour route through Redwood National Park on Howland Hill Rd. We enjoy this road most in the winter when there's less people and all the trees are fresh and clean from the rain. If you like hiking, the trails are marked and well groomed. One of our favorite hikes is the Boy Scout Tree trail. It's 5.8 miles round trip through the redwoods to get to the impressive 2,000 year old Boy Scout Tree. You can also bike along this road, it's quite spectacular! Next stop if your headed towards Crescent City is the Elk Valley Casino.
If you like hiking, the Pacific Coast Trail is also spectacular! Our favorite beaches are between Harris Beach and Whaleshead in Oregon. Many of the sunsets are worth waiting for.
