The Santee Cooper lake system consists of two lakes. Lake Marion has 110,600 acres, and Lake Moultrie, 60,400 acres. Because of our warm winters, these lakes never will freeze over, you can fish year round.

Stay connected with free wireless internet. Boat rentals in all sizes and you can also have a fishing guide set up to take you out for a great day of fishing. Laundry mat on site with 4 washers and dryers. Only an hour away from historic Charleston and all the shopping you could need.
My husband and I stayed at Carolina King Retreat and Marina for a week. Our cabin was clean and wonderfully decorated and had everything we could possibly need already supplied. We fished under the cypress trees, took a hike on the Palmetto Trail and watched beautiful sunrises right out our front door. The staff was very helpful and so friendly you would feel like you had known them forever. The grounds were beautifully planned out and so peaceful. We can't wait to go back in the spring. Next time we will try and rent a pontoon boat. Funds were limited, so we didn't get a chance to do it this time.
I decided to hike the Palmetto Trail from Georgia to the Blue Ridge Mountains last year. I saw there was a place to rent cabins literally right off of the trail so I called ahead to make sure one was available. I rented a cute little cabin on the lake that suited me perfectly, it was so nice to sleep in a comfy bed for a night before I continued my hike! Clean, friendly staff, beautiful sights, laundry facility on site which was super convenient for me. Didn't take me out of my nature themed adventure at all! I plan on going there the end of this summer with my family and renting one of their large cabins and a pontoon boat (they rent those too!)
My husband asked me to find a place close by that the whole family could enjoy. We live in Irmo, SC. He and his brother love to fish. Me and my sisterinlaw love to play in the water with the kids and ride on boats. I found Carolina King Retreat and Marina down in Summerton, SC on Lake Marion. The men caught plenty of fish, then cleaned them right there at the fish cleaning shed on the property. The kids loved the play area and at night, we sat down on the beach of the lake by the burn barrels. There was lots of deer around the park and the kids really enjoyed watching them. This is a great place to stay for just a couple of nights, but we found out you can rent cabins by the month too. We are getting a group together to go stay during Christmas break. One of the best places we have found to go and can't wait to get back there!
To break up the drive from Florida to Baltimore, we followed the signs off of I-95 to this place. It is a treasure of a place on Lake Marion. I have fished all over the United States, and the fishing on this lake ranks right at the top. The owner, Mr. Bell, and the staff are some of the friendliest people we have ever come across. We definitely plan to make this a regular stop on our travels back and forth. Everything was first-rate and we were made to feel at home at the moment we checked in. If you are traveling on I-95, and want to spend some time at a beautiful place right on the lake, check out Carolina King. You won't be disappointed!
My family and I spent 4 nights here. The cabin was beautifully decorated, clean, and had everything we needed to spend our evenings grilling out or using the kitchen to our advantage! The boys went out on the lake on a pontoon boat they rented, and decided to rent it again twice because the fishing was so good and there were so many places to explore! My daughter and I spent time walking on the Palmetto trail which comes directly through the park with our lab Dutch! We had an awesome time and only left the campground once to go to a local grocery store for a steak night! Other than that the store had everything we needed! I would highly recommend this place to anyone!
