Vilas Cabin Rental Photos and Description

3 Bedroom, 3 Bath, 3 Levels, 2 Expansive Decks, Game Room & Loft, Large Jacuzzi

Welcome to Starry Nights Lodge, a new Boone log cabin, perched high atop a hill with magnificent long-range views, landscaped with stacked-stone terraces, and a circular driveway with plenty of room for parking. Best of all, you are just 30 minutes to the ski resorts and only 10 minutes from historic downtown Boone and Valle Crucis.

This Tahoe style house has lots of room to spread out. There are three levels of indoor living space and two levels of large decks. The main level of the house features an open floor plan with dining and living areas and a fully equipped kitchen. One wall contains plenty of large windows leading out to a wide upper deck and looks upon the rolling hills and mountains beyond. On the deck, you will find an oversized picnic table, custom rockers with lumbar support, and an outdoor grill. Back inside, the first level is assembled in an Arts and Crafts style, with hardwood flooring and natural finished tongue-and-groove paneling in the cathedral ceiling. The living area contains a stone fireplace with remotely controlled gas logs and features Van Earp lamps, leather sofas and armchair. The dining area comfortably seats eight. Beyond the living area is the master bedroom with three windows set into warmly paneled walls, a king bed piled with pillows, 19' flatscreen TV and a master bath.

Meticulously crafted stairs and banisters in naturally finished pine lead from the main floor to the loft above, containing a futon and a 46 inch television, perfect for a movie, curling up with a good book, or practicing yoga.

A game room on the lower level is equipped with a Foosball table, a chess table and 36' flat screen television. Just off the game-room is a bedroom with queen sized bed, a full bath, and an additional bedroom with 1 full bed and one queen bed and private bath. The deck on this level, has a large swing chair and a seven-person hot tub with lifter bar for easy access. Just wait till the stars come out!

Starry Nights Lodge offers something for everyone in the family, with mountain views from every room, game tables and more, all in a lovely setting that is peaceful and still convenient to area attractions and events.

About Kathryn

After living abroad, we settled in the temperate region of Charlotte, NC and found ourselves constantly drawn to the beauty of the mountains, just 2 hours away. There were so many activities in every changing season; hiking , biking, skiing & snowboarding, canoeing and kayaking. We couldn't get it all in in a weekend! So we decided to buy a special place with everything we loved. We hope you too will enjoy Starry Nights Lodge.

Kathryn purchased this cabin in 2011

Why Kathryn chose North Carolina

We spent a year looking at houses that were never quite right, we finally found this place and knew our search was over. We were immediately drawn out to the deck overlooking the valley and couldn't leave it. It was fall and the area still smelled of wild flowers and sweet grass. My daughter said, 'Can you just imagine this place on a starry night?' And that's how Starry Nights Lodge was born.

What makes this cabin unique

This house pleases everyone. There is enough room for all to spread out. You won't look out at any neighbors, just deers playing in the valley below, or listen for an an owl calling his mate. In the magical winter, the fireplace is warm and cozy and children can sled right from the front door. If you are lucky enough to be here on a warm spring night, the air is lit with hundreds of fireflies- all seen from the hot tub and decks.

Guestbook comments from the owner

As the weather changed on our trek up to this mountainous Shangri-La, so did our attitudes. Left behind was the hustle and bustle of our lives, replaced by the aura of the ever-changing leaves. The surrounding nature changed our souls as we watched deer graze in the spacious wonder below us. Thank you for sharing your mountain oasis.

Beautiful Home - Fantastic Views

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful weekend at Starry Nights! We visited for my Dad's 60th birthday and our family had the best time relaxing on the beautiful porch in the mornings, drinking coffee and looking out at the spectacular mountains. The home was very nicely appointed and very clean and was a great size for our family (9). My father and husband had a wonderful time fishing and would definitely recommend Foscoe Fishing Company to anyone looking for guided tours. They had Matt as their guide and he was just great! We had so much fun checking out the Mast General Store, Grandfather Mountain, gem mining and hiking. It was a perfect get away weekend. Thank you so much!!

Vacationing in North Carolina

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at Starry Nights Lodge was terrific! It is a beautiful and spacious home with the best views! You are drawn outside to the decks by the amazing views of the mountains. The kitchen is very well equipped for cooking. There were six of us at the cabin and we all had plenty of space. I highly recommend staying at this cabin and would definitely like to return to stay again. Boone is a beautiful mountain town with plenty of good places to eat and shop. There are countless things to do around the area!

Outstanding

  • 5 of 5

What a great place to stay, I must also say the owner is great to work with and can give you little tidbits to help your vacation experience. We stayed over the Memorial Day weekend and the lodge is conveniently located to Boone for some groceries etc... and easy in and out for waterfalls and hiking. We took advantage of the lodge's relaxing atmosphere to hang out every night whether kids in the hot tub, grilling some burgers or watching the fire flies all around!! Would recommend for everyone including families as it is very well appointed to host a couple of families together which is what we did.

Bachelorette Party

  • 5 of 5

Great great! The cabin was fabulous. It had everything you need and is close to Boone. I was worried it wouldn't be private since there were cabins close but you don't even know they are there. The views are great total privacy off the decks and hot tub. The owner went above and beyond. She even had a bottle of wine waiting on the table for the bride to be. Doesn't get much better than that. I highly recommend this cabin for a fun girls weekend. Family outing, or romantic get away. 5 stars for sure.... Thanks Kathryn.....

Sweet 16 Girl's Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

I cannot say enough great things about this rental! I took eight 16-year-old girls to the mountains for the weekend to celebrate my daughter's Sweet Sixteen! The cabin was beautiful! The girls took over the downstairs and I had peace (and 'some' quiet :) ) in the master on the main floor. They really enjoyed the hot tub! They went hiking on the property one morning and then we ventured to King Street in Boone for the afternoon. We had lunch at Our Daily Bread (delish!!) and then shopped all afternoon. This cabin would also be great for a family or a few couples!! I will ABSOLUTELY go back!!

The owner, Kathryn, was also wonderful! She answered a few questions and even left a sweet note for the birthday girl! And a treat for mom too! :) If you are looking for a convenient place to stay close to Boone, I highly recommend this cabin! It has everything you could possibly need! And, the view is breathtaking!

Owner's Response: Wow, thanks Stephanie. As a mom, I know how these things work. So glad you & the girls were happy. Come back in the summer when there is lots more to do: float down the river, climb water falls, visit Alpaca farm, summer chair-lift up to Beech Mtn, heavenly! Kathryn

Fishing, rafting, canoeing & kayaking in the area's many cold water streams. Kids enjoy panning for gold, Tweetsie Railroad, spelunking and zipline adventures nearby. Adults can hunt for original artwork in elegant Blowing Rock and find creative shops and organic restaurants in Boone. Or, do nothing at all, sit back and rock on the deck and breathe in the view. At night- just wait for the stars to come out. Or better yet, enjoy them after the sun sets from the jacuzzi.
