About Bert Herndon

Carl and Bert Herndon are long time residents of Bigfork. This wonderful town is where we chose to raise our family. Since the kids are grown, we now 'winter' in a warmer climate but will continue to go back to Bigfork for the summer and fall. Bigfork is a magical village with outdoor activities available for everyone in the village and surrounding areas.

Bert Herndon purchased this house in 2012

Why Bert Herndon chose Flathead Lake

This property is on the 'still' part of the Swan River and has a peaceful serenity to it. The house is full of charm and warmth and is the perfect place to unwind from your everyday life.

What makes this house unique

This property could not be closer to the river.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We are sorry there are no reviews here, but we just purchased this house in November. We did go back to Bigfork for Christmas and decided to stay in the house to see what it was like. It was very pleasant and cozy. The river was beautiful even in the winter! Can't wait for the summer! This is a wonderful house that would be perfect for a summer stay. The boat dock is close and ready for fun. We will do everything possible to make your stay the best.

So relaxing

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at River Ranch for a week and did not want to leave. The porches sitting above the Swan River are so pleasant. We sat out there for hours. The kitchen has everything you would need to cook great meals. There are two televisions but we did not turn them on once. Why ruin the ambiance? There is a great walking/running path on Swan River Road that goes several miles up the road except for a brief interruption. Took the kayaks up the river to Swan Lake. This place has everything you would need.

River Ranch Paradise

  • 5 of 5

My family and extended family (4 adults and 3 teenage children and our Westie) had the privilege of staying in this remarkable home July 1 thru July 8, 2015! The photos are wonderful but only skim the surface as to how magnificent this home is! The wrap-around deck is perfect for conversation, wildlife observation (deer, osprey, ducks, geese) and keeping cool during the day. The easy access to the river provided fishing, kayaking and tubing. The kitchen was well-appointed. All the bedrooms and bathrooms were perfect! I really cannot say enough about this home! We look forward to staying again the next time we visit Flathead Lake!

HEAVEN!!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 6 adults stayed for 2 weeks at this comfortable, cozy, immaculate cabin on the Swan River & had an amazing time. Coffee & cocktails on the back deck, front porch or inside started & ended the days looking at amazing scenery-bald eagles, does & their newborn fawns, fish jumping in the river, sunsets that made purple mountain majesty & stars that shimmered on the water! Days were spent kayaking on the river, biking into town, walking on the river walk, eating & shopping in the quaint town of Bigfork, hiking in Glacier Park, boating in Flathead Lake, driving to Whitefish to explore or just relaxing reading a book or playing cards. Great family time! The Owners were helpful & always available for whatever you need. This is a must vacation for all ages! We highly recommend staying here & will be back!

Bigfort retreat on the Swan River was divine.

  • 5 of 5

We rented this beautiful home on the Swan River primarily as a home base for visits into Glacier National Park. The park was great fun, but the best part of the trip was the time our friends and family spent at the house, kayaking, lounging, playing games, cooking together and hanging out on this AMAZING porch. What a beautiful house, property and overall environment.

Perfection!

  • 5 of 5

I just spent the most glorious week at this magnificent property! Sitting on the porch, gazing at the Swan River, was one of our favorite things to do. We made a couple trips to Glacier National Park, Jewel Basin, local restaurants, etc. Went hiking, horseback riding and kayaking. If you want to get away from it all, this is the place to go. The house is beautiful, comfortable and has everything you need.

Fun on the swan river

  • 5 of 5

My sister and I and our families have traveled to Montana for the last 7 years. This is the first year we have made it north of Bozeman and it was great!! The nine of us stayed for 5 nights at this fabulous house. Bert was a perfect host and was helpful to us in many ways. Having the river and kayaks to use was a nice activity for all. Hiking in the state is our favorite thing to do and one day we rented a pontoon on Flathead lake and it was beautiful!! Shopping on electric avenue netted some locally made items. My sister is a wonderful baker and the 10 pounds of huckleberries were made into yummy pies, pancakes, danishes and buckles. Hope to come back to the area next year after our trip to Glacier. Can't wait!!!
