Villa Rona has received 5 star reviews from all its clients. It is a large and attractive, built on two levels with three double bedrooms. The villa also boasts two bathrooms (one ensuite) and an additional cloakroom. All the bedrooms are well equipped and comfortable. The open plan kitchen is well equipped. A breakfast bar divides the kitchen from the lounge/dining with a sofa, armchairs and a wood burning fire. There is a flat screen television with satellite and a DVD player. The large dining table seats six and there is a side chest and iPod player. Also upstairs is a separate WC and a utility room. From the lounge you walk out onto the loggia and poolside/ barbecue area with panoramic views. There is also a raised sun terrace.
On the other side of the house is a large boule piste and the property is completely fenced and has high, lockable gates and the drive can take up to three cars.
We have made some more improvements this year with a raised garden by the pool and a wild flower garden behind the boule piste.
Local interest: The villa is a 15 minute drive from the airport, only a 20 minute walk from the old Cité and you can walk down into the Ville Basse in 45 minutes. In fact if your intention is to stay in the area then there is no need to hire a car as you can take the Navette from the airport to the Ville Basse and then catch a bus which will drop you at the bottom of the road, we have done this ourselves many times. If you have car there are several large supermarkets on the ring road, the nearest being five minutes away. If you prefer to shop more alfresco, Carcassonne has a general market on Tuesday with a very large market on Saturdays, and you can buy your fresh meat and fish at Les Halles Monday to Saturday.
Activities: If you are a ‘culture vulture’ then you are truly spoilt for choice in Carcassonne itself but many other sights are within an hour or so, the villa has easy access to the motorway. Toulouse is about a 45 minute drive, Narbonne an hour, as are Béziers and Perpignan, and the ‘not to be missed’ Albi is about and hour and a half.
For the ‘outdoor types’, the golf course is a ten minute drive. The beautiful Lac de la Cavayére is 5km away and with its sandy beaches and woods is a perfect spot for a picnic or barbeque, if you prefer The Med you can be on the beach in an hour. There are many marked cycle routes and the mountains provide a test for the more committed. The enthusiastic amateur may like to cycle the tree lined Canal du Midi or for the less athletic, sample its tranquillity on a boat trip from the Ville Basse. We are also situated an hour and a half from the lower slopes of the Pyrennes so very well placed for skiing in the winter and hiking in the summer.
Cultural interests: The Black Mountains hold many treasures including the many strongholds of the Cathars and the splendour of the Gouffres and Grottes to explore.
Carcassonne has music and cultural events throughout the year but the month of July is the most important with the fireworks at La Cité on Bastille Day which is the second largest display in France, the Festival of Carcassonne which has music concerts both contemporary and classical and boasts some very famous performers. At the same time is the Festival de la Bastide which boasts three weeks of entertainment most of which is free. In August there is a two week medieval festival with re-enactments and also the Spanish Festival with equestrian displays, Spanish music and street parties.
Delightful stay in Villa Rona, very conveniently located for La Cite, Carcassonne which is a wonderful place.
The villa is well equipped, peaceful and private and has fantastic views from the mountainside.
The owner, Rona, and property manager, Martin were very helpful.
A wonderful place to stay on the hill overlooking Carcassonne. We had a wonderful week here with amazing weather.
The property contains everything you need for your stay - and more. Very pleasing to just get food and drink for the week - everything else was in the property. A lovely layout providing plenty of space to relax in.
Lovely pool and patio - a great place to eat, drink and soak up the sun.
Fantastic place for Bastille Day - an amazing view from the top of the hill of La Cite and the fireworks.
I'm looking to book my next stay already :-)
My Husband and I stayed here for a week and wished we booked for two. This villa has a lovely garden, panoramic views and a gorgeous pool for those hot days! Lovely inside and out.
The villa is spacious and very well equipped. Plenty information regarding the property, local shops and places to visit. Le Cite is only a 20 minute walk and well worth a visit as is Limoux and Narbonne.
Both the owner and Martin who looks after the villa couldn't have been more helpful.
We highly recommend this villa and hope to return ourselves in the not too distant future.

We had an extended stay in Villa Rona this year, arriving on 7th June and departing six weeks later. This was our third stay in the villa and so I guess that were certain things that we took for granted which, nevertheless, should be highlighted in this review.
1) The administration surrounding reservations is pain free; the owner is helpful, informative and efficient.
2) The villa is beautifully located being within walking distance of the Cite, ten minutes drive from the centre of Carcassonne, five minutes drive to a large supermarket (Geant Casino) and fifteen minutes drive to the airport.
3) The villa is well proportioned, having three good sized bedrooms (one en-suite), a large combined sitting and dining room and extensive seating and lounging areas around the well maintained swimming pool.
4) There is a good range of equipment throughout the villa; from a TV with all the UK channels, through DVD players, iPod docking stations, microwave ovens, vacuum cleaners and coffee percolators to an extended hosepipe that is great for cleaning the car.
OK, so these were the things we took for granted; the other things worth mentioning from our holiday are that;
1) Despite its convenient location Villa Rona is peaceful with great views out over open countryside.
2) There are some fabulous restaurants in the Cite and in Carcassonne itself.
3) The 14th July firework display is spectacular - not just for the fireworks but for the amazing car parking of those who come to view them.
If you are looking to spend time in Languedoc you will be very fortunate to find a better villa than this in which to stay.
We stayed here in April 2014 with four adults and two young children (2 and 5). The villa is exactly as stated in the description with everything you could wish for in a holiday villa and the bedrooms are all very well proportioned with plenty of storage for even a prolonged stay. Its location is within a quiet cup de sac in a nice neighbourhood very close to Carcassonne Airport (10-15 minute drive) with easy access to La Cite, local shops, supermarkets and Carcassonne town centre as well as the Australian park and a lovely activity lake. It was ideally located to get on the motorway which gets you to the beach (Narbonne Plage) or Toulouse in under an hour.
The property was spotlessly clean and well maintained and all the appliances were in good working order including dishwasher and washing machine. There was a seemingly endless supply of hot water, which was great for the six of us!
We were greeted on arrival by Geoff who showed us around the property, pointing out the important features and gave us some tips for the local area and suggestions for activities, which was particularly helpful given the Sunday arrival and most things being shut.
We very much enjoyed the stone barbecue and lovely garden which has fantastic views over the surrounding countryside and had sun until late into the evenings which was furnished with loungers and an outside dining table with chairs, which we were able to use most evenings despite it being April! The area was safe for the children also. There was great attention to detail including some board games and DVDs provided, including Twister which was became a family favourite!!
We would definitely recommend this villa and location to anyone, we could easily have stayed for another three weeks and not run out of things to do.
We stayed here for a week with four adults and two young children (2 and 5) in April 2014. The villa is lovely, modern and spacious with three very generously proportioned bedrooms, with one en-suite, ideally laid out for our purposes (2 doubles and 1 twin). It felt very secure, in a quiet neighbourhood with far reaching views over the surrounding countryside and had a private drive which was gated. The garden with pool was well maintained and safe, even with young children and there was an outside table with chairs and sun loungers to enjoy the sunshine which shines in the garden until late into the evening. The villa had everything you could want including a fully equipped kitchen, comfortable lounge with TV and the stone barbecue was great in the evenings. There was great attention to detail including some games like Twister and a selection of DVDs which were well enjoyed by all! The location was ideal, being only a 10-15 minute drive from Carcassonne airport and very near to La Cite and the major motorway which could get you to Toulouse or the beach (Narbonne-Plage) in under an hour's drive. We would 100% recommend this villa and location and can't wait to come back!
Carcassonne is at the heart of the Aude region, with all the amenities you would need for a great holiday. If you enjoy culture there are two World Heritage sites (the Cité and the Canal du Midi) and you are surrounded by medieval and Cathar history with numerous castles and fortifications. If you prefer an active holiday there is walking in the Corbières Hills, golf, horse riding, cycling or swimming and windsurfing. Situated within easy driving distance of the Mediterranean, Pyrenees, Spain and Andorra and within easy reach of Toulouse, Narbonne and Béziers, Carcassonne is the ideal location to base your holiday. Carcassonne is not only the sunniest place in France it is one the most sought after holiday destinations all year round. The villa is ideally situated in a quiet cul-de-sac away from the town with expansive views of the Black Mountains and the Corbières Hills but is only a 5 minutes drive from La Cité or a 20 minute walk.Bakery within a 5 minute drive and general store within a 5 minute walk.
Other Activities: Music and cultural events in Carcassone all year round especially summer and Xmas.Bastille Day is a must.
Golf: Carcassonne boasts a challenging 18 hole Golf course with a great Bistro for post game relaxation (booking essential).
