Overview

About the property

4 Bedroom, 2 Bathroom, Sleeps 8-10, Lakefront!

Welcome to our lake house in the mountains! This is our vacation home, so we treat it with care. We like to believe that because of that, you’ll find it nicer than the rental-only houses available.

Our house is directly on the public beach of the largest lake in our community. You literally walk out of the house, through a short path through the trees, and you’re on the beach! Besides the gorgeous lake, the beach has a playground, picnic tables, and bbqs for everyone’s use.

The 2000 square foot house is clean and modern with a nautical décor, and features brand new hardwood flooring. There are four bedrooms, each with a queen bed, and two full bathrooms (one with a shower/tub, one with a shower stall). One bedroom has a small sofabed so if you’re travelling with children, they can stay with you in your room. We have a large, sunny great room with an 8-person dining table and living room with a wood-burning fireplace and ipod dock. The kitchen is fully equipped with range, microwave, pots & pans, dishes, hand mixer, toaster oven, coffee maker, utensils and more. Sliding doors from the living room lead onto a large uncovered deck overlooking the lake. Doors from the dining room and kitchen lead onto the screened-in porch, with another 8-person dining table. Eat in the clear mountain air! There is a propane bbq on the deck as well for those summer cook-outs!

The top floor has 3 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. Downstairs, you’ll find the 4th bedroom (with the sofabed), and the 2nd bathroom. In addition, there is the large family room. Here you’ll find the 42” flat screen TV with cable, a DVD player, and Netflix. Also a wood-burning stove, an air-hockey table, a game table, and numerous books, board games, and family appropriate DVDs for your enjoyment. We also have high speed wi-fi throughout the house. Sliding doors from the family room lead to the beach, and your own private fire pit! Mmmm . . . s ‘mores . . .

We are family and dog friendly. We have provided a high chair, a pack and play (with an extra thick special mattress, not those thin cardboard ones that usually come with them!), a gate for the stairs, and baby/toddler books and toys. Feel free to bring your furry family members along too! Doggie bed and bowls available. But please note that dogs are not allowed on the beach.

The house is located in the gorgeous community of Locust Lake Village. This community includes 5 lakes, 3 with white sandy beaches and lifeguards throughout the summer. There is a snack bar, playground, and picnic area at each lake. The community has activities and classes planned throughout the year. Other recreational facilities in the community include: A baseball field, a basketball court, shuffleboard, bocci ball, and even its own skiing hill and ice skating. Also, Locust Lake was rated 'Best in the Country Trout Fishing' by Pennsylvania Game and Fish. The Village is surrounded by 21,000 acres of Brady’s State Gamelands—you’re truly in the woods!

Locust Lake is a perfect location to all activities and attractions, all year round. This property is conveniently 10 minutes away from Jack Frost/Big Boulder Ski Resort, which has tubing, downhill skiing, and snowboarding. Split Rock, a 10 minute drive, is a resort with the H2ooooooh water park, mini golf, a movie theater, and more. Camelback Ski/Water Park, horseback riding, paintball, whitewater rafting, golfing are all within 10-20 minutes away, in the Lehigh River Gorge and Hickory Run State Park. The 100-store Tannersville Outlets are also only a 20 minute drive. NASCAR Pocono Raceway and the Mount Airy Casino are also only minutes away! For a longer day out, head over to the historic and quaint town of Jim Thorpe, or even to Philadelphia, Sesame Place, or Hershey Park.

This village is adjacent to a main highway, Route 940, only 5 miles from Routes 80 and 280. It is close to a shopping center containing an excellent grocery store. There are numerous dine-in and take-out restaurants nearby. A short drive down Rt 940 takes you to a shopping center which includes a Wal-Mart and a Lowe’s.

Come enjoy our home and everything the Poconos has to offer.

Great location, large house, no central air

  • 4 of 5

Owners are great and easy to deal with. Community is great. House was plenty big for 8 of us. Loved the screened in porch and fire pit! $40/person/week is a bit steep and in addition to house rental in order to enjoy the beach. Could use central air conditioning or more than the one portable air conditioner that was only in one room, however we got lucky with mostly high 70s and a breeze on most days. Person or service maintaining the place is not doing a good job keeping it very clean or organized. Expired food items/spices from 2015 in cabinets, cobwebs everywhere, every closet was disorganized with blankets on the floors and supplies randomly located. Could use a little TLC thruout but everyone had a great time! Black bears made an appearance in proximity to the house on the beach which gave everyone some excitement. Thanks for letting us borrow your home!

Great House for Multiple Families with Small Children

  • 4 of 5

Our crew consisted of four families, each with at least one child under the age of three. The house offered enough space for each family and the toys available along with the miniature chairs in the living room was a nice touch. One room was listed as not being pack-and-play ready which was true despite the pictures than made it seem it would fit. We were still able to fit the pack-and-play in that room by just extending the pack-and-play into the closet a bit.

The screened-in porch was perfect for dinners and games after the kids went to bed. The 30 foot walk to the beach and its playground was also great for couples with ambulatory kids so they didn't have to pack a car to get there.

The only negative was that the requirements for purchasing badges for beach access was not mentioned in the listing. The owners did not inform us about the potential additional fees until after we booked. Adults need to pay $7/day for beach access (little kids were free) for using any of the Locust Lake amenities.

Otherwise a great trip, thanks!

We found the house to be very neat, clean, & nicely decorated. Each bedroom was roomy & comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans & anything you can could need. Great location near the lake. We would definitely return for another vacation!

Awesome Spot! Convenient for Families/Kids

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this property July 2nd-5th, 2017. The owners were terrific. Matt responded and took care of our issues immediately. Upon our arrival we had an issue with a portable AC unit in 1 of the bedrooms and the ceiling fan in the other and both were fixed/replaced in a matter of hours. The location is perfect for families with little kids. You are literally 10-15 steps from the beach. Little kids need to nap so you can put them to sleep and be back at the beach within a few minutes (an adult was always at the house for precautionary reasons of course). The back deck has a gate so we didn't have to worry about the kids escaping us and could roam freely wherever. The screened porch was awesome keeping the bugs out. The Locust Lake village community was the best one we've stayed at and this is our 4th year going to the Poconos. Access to events, disposing trash and of course the beach couldn't have been easier. The water temperature was great, lifeguards on duty, playgrounds/floats for kids and the folks all were very nice. Weather couldn't have been better, was 80-82 degrees all 3 days. We hope to return to this house next year and make it our annual spot!

perfect area

  • 5 of 5

My family and I had a fantastic time on our vacation at this location. What a convenience having the beach with all activities right outside your yard. The house had plenty of room for extended family. Everyone in the community was friendly and helpful. The kids had a blast with the activities that the lifeguards include them in each day at the beach.

The porch in this house is a homerun, nicely decorated, screened in and large enough for our big families to eat all together. Having it come with sheets, pillows and towels is a home run. We loved it so much we are already talking about booking for next summer.
